  1. Cant wait, as many others have already stated, for curling. What a great event to watch......I would love to try it some time. Anyone ever gone out to Utah and paid to ride the bobsled track? I heard its like $40, but you have to sign a waiver because of the dangers involved. I may be in the minority, but I could care less about Shaun White. I cant stand the fact that we have athletes who are stone broke and paying their own ways to get to the olympics, and then we have guys like White who make millions. That makes me kind of sad. The ice hockey tourney looks to be pretty awesome as well.
  2. Saw something tonight I had never seen, after Mankato took their second or third late or cheap penalty in a row...... Our seats are directly behind the opponent's bench, a pair of rows up, and half-way through the 3rd period, Geffrion skated in front of the Mankato Bench and was yelling at their coach to, in not very good language, knock the cheap head-hunting penalties off. Their coach said nothing, but you could tell it fired MSU up. The last ten minutes of the game were very physical, and really, dominated by MSU. UW did hold them off, which although scary, was good to see. After the game, both teams captains exchanged some not so good language, followed by both teams coaches standing and swearing at each other. Saturday is looking to be a great big battle!
  3. Awesome! It will be great to not have a ton of snow
  4. Mike Lucas has an article bashing the UW student section today, for empty seats last night. Many friends and former alumni of UW (along with myself) have discussed this issue in the past.....in FB, students show up late and are more worried about the wave than the game. In hoops, they show up late and only get excited for "big games" such as Duke and Michigan State. Hockey seems to be the only sport where student fans are nuts all of the time. The article also argues about the validity of moving the student section from one end to the side of the court......It starts an interesting debate. The article is quite interesting. I am a huge Badger fan, and a season ticket holder, so please dont take this as me bashing them! I thought it would start a nice little discussion here. And to change topics, I agree that ESPN disses the Big Ten all the time!
  5. This is sad news....I love deadliest catch, and I dont think his kids are cut from the same mold. Good luck to them and the rest of the crew. It will be interesting to see how the show goes about telling this story
  6. Agree with you guys.....ugly night for Bucky. Well I guess they were due for one. Get well Leuer!
  7. Which Madison team played the Milwaukee team? Because the bf.net Madison team (we used to have a page on bf.net) never played the Milwaukee team. We tried but no weekends worked. If there is another Madison team, you should play our team (Echo Tap) this spring. Top division, Tuesday nights. We have a good group of guys. We definately would be up for a scrimmige and a tailgate, no doubt. We have three division titles and would love to set this thing up. Please contact myself or needmorefans (manager) to play this spring.
  8. Where were you planning the wedding? My wedding last summer doubled in cost because of the location......
  9. I will be there, as will needmorefans. It should be a good time, and the weather looks pretty good. Have fun and dont tailgate too hard!
  10. Does ESPN name those 6 teams from the ACC, or the 5 from the A-10 or SEC? I cannot figure how this can be.......although I did see today that Steve Lavin said that the Pac 10 could only get one, which made me laugh a bit. The Big 12 actually falls off fast after you get by Kansas, Texas, and Kansas St. TLB, we may need some of your research here!
  11. A great win, no doubt. I am impressed by how much our "role players" have improved, such as Taylor, Nankivil, Evans, Wilson, etc. They are all improving and there is no reason this team cannot make some march madness noise. Great detective work by Hawing has me believing that Leuer will be back soon......I cant wait!
  12. Great Game tonight, complete domination. 5-2 win.......Outshoot UMD 52-19......just awesome! I like the fact that the Badgers score an empty netter with just over a minute remaining to make it 4-2, then get another one a few seconds later for good measure. I had the same audio problems, and was frustrated that the video was so far behind the radio. But it was fun none the less. Charter extra channel 87, I guess we cannot complain. I thought it was interesting that the audio sounded like the UMD radio broadcast.....those guys were pretty funny. Calling the act of Davies taking a stick to the face "He should be ashamed" (They thought he was acting, and maybe he was a bit, but still, it was a clean stick blade to the head) was pretty funny. But even the announcers sounded pretty deflated by the Badgers. Same time and channel tomorrow night, hopefully the same results. Props to the State Journal running an article about Gardiner doing other things, and that the scoring will come. He lights up the boards tonight! Great timing! A great night and it could turn into a huge weekend for the Badgers!
  13. Well....a loss is a loss.....but to be in the game with a chance to win with 6 seconds to go, no Leuer......I take it as a positive! Even though I thought the officials were horrible, and Travon had a pretty poor game..... TLB, how do you feel about Nankivil now? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif What a game for the big guy! If Leuer can come back strong, this team could be pretty great.
  14. Tonight's game at Purdue will be very difficult without Leuer. It would be nice if the boys could play them tough, but I heard on the radio today that the badgers have only won twice in like 35 tries at Mackey arena.... ouch! A win tonight would be huge
  15. This week's national poll is out. Badgers move up to #2! They are headed in the right direction
  16. Great weekend for Bucky! Only 2 points out of first in the WCHA, and now will move into the top two in the national polls..... This team can score, thats for sure!
  17. Rob Wilson has got to be Smoove B from the onion, good call Hawing Ugly win is still a good win without Leuer!
  18. Anyone ever been to Rosendale WI? I know of 2 people who recieved tickets on the main street for less than 5mph over the 25mph speed limit. (on hwy 26) One was one of my grandparents visiting me in college (ticket read 28 in a 25) and the other was my college roomate's father. (29 in a 25) I think that is the only town I ever make sure to do the exact posted speed. That bothers me a lot......
  19. Agree with the Brian Elliott comment. He was a very good college goalie. Our two right now are not that good. Some stats to chew on this week.... According to USCHO.com, in the national statistics for all D-1 goaltenders, Bennet currently ranks # 13 ( 2.16 goals per game) and Gudmanson ranks #15 (2.17 goals per game). So from that standpoint, they are pretty darn good, since there are roughly 200 goalies in the nation. I know that the radio guys have been pretty harsh on our defenders, who tend to take major risks and leave our goalie hanging a lot....We have a lot of offensive minded defensmen.......i.e. Goody gave up a goal where he was behind the net, gave it to a defender who immidiatly tried to pass in front, where it was stolen and knocked into an open net....mistakes happen a lot this season. But they do have their flaws too.....Bennett comes out of the net a ton, both are really bad when they are bad. Goody can be beat by quicker teams who pepper the net with shots. These are things that can be fixed, and luckily, the Badgers are the top scoring team in the nation at over 4 goals per game. So we can bail our guys out in a high scoring game. A little more perspective on how our goalies stack up in the WCHA, Goody is #1 in conference games (2.03 gpg) while Bennett is #4 (2.21 gpg). They are both pretty good in the WCHA! Go Bucky!
  20. A vets min contract......that sounds better. This team is in for a long season, so I hope Bucks fans can keep an open mind and enjoy a scrappy team.
  21. I agree 100%......its not a cheap move and when people wonder what Redd had left in the tank, what are they going to say about Stackhouse?
  22. 10 mins to go.... 4-0 UW. Dominating performance so far.
  23. Game is not on any TV tonight....sorry! By the way, make sure you get a chance to see Derek Stepan, because he is really, really, good!
  24. And yes......this thread is about hockey, and hockey fans are much nicer http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  25. If you live in Madison and have Charter, channel 87 tends to pick up a lot of the away games lately. Not really sure what that station is normally, but they always have WCHA hockey on......Last weekend they had the st. cloud student broadcast. #3 in the nation.....now we get tested over the next two weeks. Go Bucky!
