  1. What? They can be the same thing if you throw gobs of money at the right guys. How'd that work out for the Mets? How 'bout the Phillies? Or the Reds? How has it worked for the Dodgers?
  2. Maybe not, but it sure can help.
  3. Knowing CC, he would have used the tried and true formula of Williams in the 8th, Hader in the 9th. Nothing that happened all season long tells me anything differently.
  4. I don't think anyone's saying the lack of offense wasn't the main problem/reason the Brewers lost - Having that just whitewash over the other shortcomings the Brewers had in the bullpen that contributed to them losing a pair of games in this series isn't the way to look at it either, though. To me the offense not producing AND the bullpen being thinner than it would've been largely due to Williams' injury combined to produce many of the questionable in-game managerial decisions CC made in games 2-4. yup.
  5. If we had Williams, pretty good chance he pitches the 8th instead of Hader. Would Williams have fared better than Hader? We'll never know.
  6. But then you are also getting rid of an integral piece of your pitching staff, arguably the best reliever in the game, while you are in win-now mode. Yup, and once you take Hader from our bullpen, any strength it once was is gone. Take Hader out of the bullpen and all we have is a bunch of question marks. It will be an interesting off-season for sure.
  7. I agree, it's probably time, but until he is gone, I doubt we will be able to appreciate what he has brought to this team for years now. Lockdown closers aren't as easy to find as some might think. I shudder at the thought of who our new closer would be. Will Williams ever be the guy before the major hand injury? I don't think we can count on him stepping into that role until we know he can throw again. Probably means we'd have to go the FA route to find someone to take the place of Hader. That scares me.
  8. It’s not 2005 anymore. Role players get 10+ million dollars a year in the major leagues now. That they’re going to be paying a former MVP and two former All Stars 52 million in 2022 isn’t really that big of a deal. lol It certainly is if our entire payroll is 115 million... It's a really big deal actually.
  9. I just can't see how. There is nothing coming up the pipeline that's going to do that. The only dream I can cling to is fixing Yelich to the point he's a shell of what he was. Yeah, I'm sure they can move a guy here or a guy there, but this offense badly needs something. And it's not just Yelich. It's JBJ. It's Cain. There's a lot of money in some not very great players. Our entire outfield should be replaced, but can't happen because they are all too expensive to get rid of. Yelich has been beaten to death, Cain is old and plays a max of 80-90 games and is being paid 15 million. JBJ was an absolute train wreck of a signing, and now we are stuck with his 10-12 million dollar contract. Garcia is going to cost way more than we can even begin to afford (18 million?), and to be honest, he went in the tank when we needed hi most anyway. We are in a bad situation with the OF, nothing more to say about it. This OF, unless Yelich comes back strong will be our downfall next season offensively. Without dumping our entire outfield, which will be impossible to do, offensively, I don't see a lot of change for next season. Is Rowdy our answer at 1B? It feels like a risk to go into the season with him as our guy, but what choice do we really have?
  10. Does the guys body look like a guy who is going to get in the gym and get healthy?? Bulk up a bit?? I don't think so. Huh? *Shaking head*
  11. Again, it is the most successful season in the Milwaukee Brewers history, you just need to understand that much... It still ended in a loss, but it is the high water mark because it is the only time we ever got the the World series. I get it though, it gets old hanging our hat on a loss, but until we have a better outcome, it is the furthest we have ever made it in a single season.
  12. Yelich is getting hammered here, and rightfully so, but if you look at him, he is struggling, deeply struggling. Just look at his body language, look in his eyes, dude is hurting, emotionally and physically, and one may hinge on the other... Seriously, I don't doubt he is seeking counseling after his last two seasons. How can he even look at himself in the mirror and feel good about himself? I feel bad for the guy, and hopefully he is going to take the off season and get some help, mentally and physically.
  13. Don't take this wrong but please - we have to stop talking about 1982. This is as bad as Packers fans waxing poetic about the Lombardi all those years before 1989 (and GB actually won). That was a great team but it is ancient history now. It's only ancient history if you were not able to experience it. I understand, all those that were not born yet in 82 would never understand the sheer joy of that season, which ended in the most heartbreak I have ever experienced in my years of fandom. Again, I get why people tire of hearing about it, but sadly, it's the most success this team has ever experienced, so there you have it...
  14. Go back through the GameDay. A few of the ones we were “screwed on” were strikes. People fail to realize ANY sliver of the ball over the plate is a strike. Additionally, we got MANY strike/ball calls in our favors. Umps sucked, but it went both ways. Our hitters just sucked and the end results of ABs never seemed to benefit us. Um, wut. Did you actually watch the game? Dude, the "umps screwed us and only us" line of thinking is tired. It happens here all season and gets terribly old... The umps always suck both ways.
  15. dumb dumb dumb CC continues to do things that make no sense. He deserves every single bit of second guessing he gets from this series, not that our media would ever dream of questioning him...
  16. great, extra innings would then mean that JBJ and Maile get to save the day at the plate. gag
  17. It's not CCs fault that Christian Yelich can't hit. It IS CCs fault that Luke Maile has had more ABs than both Tyrone Taylor and Jace Peterson in the playoffs. Really can't argue with that. Here is another thing, if we bat through the line-up again in extra innings, Maile will have yet another at bat.
  18. It's amazing really. Jace too. This really gets me too - particularly when your other two catchers are actually 2 of your better hitters recently. Just because you have 3 catchers on the roster doesn't mean you've got to burn them all up - and before the 8th inning no less and once again, who is our emergency catcher?
  19. Don't be surprised if we see Box or Cousins in the 8th. I'm not convinced we see Hader for multiple innings to be honest. I haven't heard them talking about who is warming up. Is it possible that Woodruff is going to go out the 8th?
  20. Who is our emergency catcher. What if Maile takes one to the chesnuts and has to exit the game? Risky.
