  1. How exactly did it backfire? How did it not backfire, it was a joke. The guy is done, we have no need for that kind of shenanigans at this point in the season.
  2. I'm going to stand by my statement. It was a stunt, and it could have been costly. Yup, we won the game, but now isn't the time to pull stunts like bringing an ex closer out of retirement during a playoff push. I think it was reckless and ridiculous.
  3. This felt like some kind of feel good stunt when it came out, and still does. Hind sight is 20/20, blah blah blah, but this was just plain dumb, and it backfired. I'm not wishing ill will on the guy as far as his injury goes, but I really hope we are now done with this kind of crap, and start focusing on winning games.
  4. What would we do with Buxton when he isn't hurt (which is practically never)? We still have JBJ taking up space and salary, Cain for another season after this one, Yelich (who knows what's going on with him) and Garcia the rest of this year. If we pick up Buxton somehow, and send Taylor down, this will anger me greatly. Probably won't matter, Buxton, Yelich, and Cain will be hurt before Taylor even moved back in to Nashville... Stop messing with Taylor and let the kid play out the rest of the season. I'd only be up for Buxton if some way, some how, Cain or JBJ went to the Twins.
  5. lets get both Sure would be a crowded bench... Although, Donaldson would surely do some IL time at some point, and Buxton the same... I find it extremly risky to get one of them, much less both of them.
  6. I'm actually pretty shocked that the Cubs and White Sox have made two trades... I don't remember that happening before, much less twice within a couple of days. I could be wrong though.
  7. We don't need no stinking Luke Voit.......WE HAVE ROWDY!
  8. Wow, the teardown continues. I'm guessing they get a HAUL for Baez, the best "tagger" in MLB...
  9. The question is, is Kimbrel the closer for the Sox, or does Hendriks remain the closer? I am wondering for purely selfish reasons as I have Hendriks on 2 fantasy teams. *nervous laugh*
  10. It's a meh move, but I'm not really happy about giving up Olson for him... To me, this is a "thumbs down" move based on what we gave up.
  11. That would kill our outfield. No thanks at this time...
  12. CC says: "Hold my beer."
  13. Fully agree. A good breakout season at 27. Like to think he’s a fixture as at least the #4 outfielder for the next several seasons. Why #4? He's currently batter than Yelich, Cain, JBJ and Garcia. Kid has earned a starting spot, plain and simple.
  14. Imagine being a Padres fan, thinking you have Scherzer, then all of a sudden, you don't, and he goes to LA. That's not bad enough, then they get Turner too... UGH! Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post reports that a deal to send Max Scherzer and Trea Turner to the Dodgers is "close." Dougherty reports that Scherzer has approved a deal to Los Angeles, which is a big step since the right-hander has 10-5 rights. The Dodgers will reportedly send their two top prospects in Keibert Ruiz and Josiah Gray in the deal along with Donovan Casey and right-hander Gerardo Carrillo. There's likely to be a lot of paperwork in this trade that make it a slow burn, but it sounds like this is one that is going to get done. Incredible. 15. Was a huge prospect years ago. Yeah, and a bit over-rated now. You can only lean on your prospect status for so long...
  16. Does Luke Voit become available now? Hurt a lot this year.
  17. NO to Hosmer, we have Rowdy, I'd rather give the at bats to Rowdy that take on Hosmer's salary.
  18. NO to Hosmer, we have Rowdy, I'd rather give the at bats to Rowdy that take on Hosmer's salary.
  19. Go "another team"! Unless it's the Reds or Cards...
  20. If they intend to trade him, that would be pretty stupid...
  21. Is Peralta going to be piggybacked tonight, or will he be allowed to go as long as he can effectively? I read someplace that he might be piggybacked his next few starts to save his arm.
  22. They are going to keep riding Yelich, simply because they have to. This team likely goes nowhere if he doesn't pick things up. They aren't going to start platooning him. Well, now they have options. And no, they do not have to play Yelich just because he is Yelich. And yes, we have been winning without him being great. Lefty starters come by, what, 20% of the time. He could/should have those days to rest his back. I agree, they don't HAVE to play him just because he is Yelich, but sadly, I think that is what CC will do. He should get more days off, against lefties for certain.
  23. You think we got Escobar to start half the games, and PH the rest? I beg to differ. This guy is going to start every day for the rest of the year barring injury.
