  1. This exactly. Looking at our roster, non Brewers fans would be penciling us in as a non-playoff contender. Step outside of your fandom and have a look at this roster. We are signing depth guys as starters and everyday guys. I just don't see us competing with the Cards and even the Reds.
  2. I feel like that is letting them off the hook with a convenient excuse. "hey, we tried." I don't think they went in intending to "slash" payroll, but I do think they intended to spend less than most want them to spend.
  3. top = shirt/jersey?
  4. You think our starting rotation is worse now than what we ended with last year? Come on. Hmmmm We added a bunch of question marks, but nothing that we can say for certain is better than Chase Anderson, Davies, Gio, and Lyles. Chacin, yes, but he was an absolute train wreck and pretty easy to replace.
  5. As negative as this sounds, this is where I'm at. Damn it...
  6. Might as well lock this thread down, we have our man...
  7. To be honest, I'd rather have just resigned Shaw to a one year prove it deal, than to go the route we have chosen. I like those chances better than what we have done so far.
  8. Another signing to add to our growing trash heap of mediocrity. Going into the season with Sogard and Gyorko as our primary third basemen really kind of makes me unexcited for the season. Add them to the mess we have at 1B and I just don't see any improvement offensively to the 2020 team. If Sogard plays for us like he did when we flat out waived him from the team a couple years ago, then what? Healy, Gyorko, and some other scrap heap guy plays the position? I have zero faith in Sogard. You just can't convince me that what has been thrown against the wall in hopes of something sticking, is going to be a playoff contending type team. As the team sits today, I just don't see it. Please, someone convince me otherwise. I'm open to listen.
  9. Judging by what has gone down so far, Todd Frazier or Jed Lowrie might be the best we can expect (yuk), unless a serious trade goes down. I know a lot of people are high on what we've done so far, but I just don't see the team, as it sits today, being better than last year's squad.
  10. That would be more valid if the players planned to stick around in the near future.
  11. I've never tried it either, not one single time. I know others, who like me, have also never tried it. Not that weird to us... Cool. I am happy for you and others like you. The issue was someone saying they didn't like something they had never tried. Uh huh, but if that is the issue, then why say it's weird to not try it? Doesn't really matter, and I really don't care one way or the other, but I don't think it's that weird to not try coffee.
  12. I hated it when we traded him, I admit it, and I'm hoping they pick him back up. Why eat crow? Is his career over? Is he a complete and total bust because he was cut? I'm not following...

  14. Interesting since the world knows that Gene Simmons is not, and has never been a partier himself. His party has always been women. He doesn't drink or do drugs, and never has.
  15. I have never even taken a sip of the stuff... 54 years and doing fine without it.
  16. Moose definitely had some nice moments as a Brewer, but they aren't going to do a bobble of the current Cincinnati Reds' 2B. They did a CC Sabathia in 2010 when he was a Yankee...
  17. According to Jorge Castillo of the L.A. Times, the Dodgers and Jimmy Nelson have agreed to a one-year deal with a mutual option for 2021. The deal guarantees Nelson barely more than $1 million, but he can earn more this year and a total of $13 million over two years if the option is exercised. Nelson was one of the NL's best pitchers in 2017 before tearing up his shoulder diving back into first base. He missed 2018 and didn't show the same stuff in three starts and seven relief appearances for the Brewers last season. He could compete with Ross Stripling, Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin for the fifth spot in the Dodgers' rotation. RELATED: Los Angeles Dodgers SOURCE: Jorge Castillo on Twitter Jan 7, 2020, 10:53 AM ET
  18. I seriously hope that we don't settle for a guy like Frazier. That would make me sad.
  19. I kind of feel like a Cain Gold Glove is a given. Yelich (Hank Aaron) & Hader (Trevor Hoffman) also could get bobble-ized for their respective awards. Also wouldn't be surprised by a Simmons HOF. & can we please get a Teddy Higuera? Seems a lil strange that arguably the best pitcher in franchise history hasn't gotten the bobble treatment by now. If they do sort of a franchise greatest hits for the 50th I would guess Selig, Uecker, Aaron, Fingers, Molitor, Yount, Fielder, Braun & Yelich as the line up. Already did a Selig so I doubt he warrants another. Did a Fielder last year, for what reason, God only knows, so I doubt they do back to back Fielders. All that you mentioned have had bobbles, most multiple, so I am really hoping they get more creative this time around.
  20. Based on what? Gut feeling? I have faith in Stearns, and he obviously felt he would not help us this year, or possibly ever. I wanted him back, and sucks that he is just gone after that promising 2017, but it is what it is.

I want, and have always wanted a Juan Nieves No Hittrer bobble. The perfect compliment would be a diving Yount to save the no hitter...

  23. Agreed! I am hoping that the tardiness means they are working on some good ones... I think it's a safe bet that most of the 9 bobbles will be in commemoration of the 50 year anniversary. Who knows what they plan for the special event bobbles, only the Cain Star Wars has been released. SSH bobble is Woodruff. That is all I know about.
  24. I think that Jimmy Nelson is the only guy that we let go from last year that has yet to sign on with a different team. I am still hoping we bring him in and see what he can do, even if as a bullpen guy.
