  1. Hate is a strong word, I don't hate the guy, in fact, he seems like a really nice, genuine dude. I just cringe at the thought of him being anything more than a reserve player.
  2. Tailgating isn't cheap either, still have to buy all the fixins...Tickets, parking and gas money are still things that have to be paid for. Not saying anything other than it isn't cheap to go to a game.
  3. If Sogard starts two games a week, that is 2 games too many...
  4. As a back up/reserve IF only, I'm not upset with this (but the cost was ridiculous) but we all know that CC will play him more than a back-up/reserve type guy. CC can't not play him, he sees himself in Sogard, and plays him far more innings than should be the case. Lots of people in this very thread have "lauded" this move. If anyone criticizes any move the Brewers make, they are treated like fools. That attitude is getting old. As fans, we are allowed to not like moves, and when that is the case, no one should be made to feel like idiots because they disagree with something. As I have said before, people who constantly make negative posts are just as bad as those that think every move is brilliant.
  5. Umm, most of us peasants do not consider major league baseball as affordable at all lol you beat me to it. Far from affordable, in fact, it is down right expensive to go to a game at all. Tickets and parking alone are ridiculous. Add in gas money, food, drinks, etc and going to one game with 4 people traveling from Appleton will cost at least $200-$250, and that is with 400 level crappy seats.
  6. I'm not sure that statement is accurate at all. It's like the people saying the Reds will be bad again, and not challenge for the Central. I think both teams have greatly improved. I never said the Reds will be bad again. I said the Reds are bad until they prove they aren't. The White Sox are in the same boat. "Winning" the offseason doesn't amount to a hill of beans. Here we go again... I wasn't just talking about you, others have acted like the Reds will not have a say in the division this year as well. The Reds have gotten better, even if they don't win the Central, or even come close, they are better, and will win more games, probably against the other Central teams, which will have a bearing on the final standings. Same with the White Sox. If they don't win the division, they sure as heck will make it tougher on the other teams... We just have to agree to disagree.
  7. Thinking about the little nerd guy having any kind of a large role on this team makes me violently ill. I thought this page was turned a long time ago, yet here we are, starting a new novel. He was just so bad the last time he played here, and it seems people have forgotten just how terrible he was when we released him. Let that sink in, we cut him, released him, and now we are paying him 4.5 million to return. Baseball is strange sometimes.
  8. Probably not even close. Add Small, Lutz, and Turang, and they would probably still say no. we don't have the guns to get both, and more than likely, not even one of them.

  11. Healy goes to AAA, or Arcia is dealt. Maybe both. yup, it is appearing more and more like Arcia is a goner.
  12. Right now, it appears as though we have 13 pitchers and 13 offensive players on the 26 man roster. If we grab a 3B somehow, who gets the ax from the 26 man roster? My guess is that Healy goes to AAA, where he should be anyway. https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/depth-charts/brewers
  13. The thought of going into the season with our 3B options being Eric Freaking Sogard and Healy sickens me. No way this is what we settle with, there has to be a BIG move on the horizon.
  14. This, completely this. Some seem to forget just how bad he was for us outside of his first hot few weeks. We waived him, cut him loose, severed ties and it was more of a plus for the team to have him gone than continue to roster him. There was a stretch when CC was playing him, and playing him, and playing him to the point of craziness. He was out and out awful. I have nothing against Eric Sogard, but we have been down this road, and it ended terribly. Shocking that we decided to take it again.
  15. I'm going to go the opposite, I see no way we are keeping him this season. His value is at his highest it might ever be. If we plan to trade him for a haul, this is the time to do it, however, it has to be a haul that will help us big time! We can't settle for the best package offered, we have to dig in and get exactly what we want.

  17. McNeil and Thor for Hader. Get it done!
  18. I think the opposite seems to be true around here. Everyone seems to say "let's see... how can I find a way to convince myself that this is a really, brilliant move?" There is some merit to this... There are just as many here praising every move as there are ripping every move...
  19. Sorry, but I don't believe anyone here who claims that they think this move is good. In the big picture, maybe so, since we don't know what moves are around the corner, but I don't believe that anyone, not even our falsely manufactured sunshine spreaders are happy with this move. Sorry, my fandom doesn't allow me to see this kind of move, and be giddy with delight. When we are obviously pinching pennies, does forking out 4.5 million to Eric Sogard make people happy with our off-season? If so, you are a much better fan than myself. I'm not angry, upset, or mad, but this does nothing to move our needle, just a guy to add to our roster. Arcia has to be on the block, it's the only thing that can explain this.
  20. Sogard is exactly the kind of guy that CC can't not play... He will be inserted into our line-up far more than he should. We've seen it all before.
  21. Isn't this the same Sogard we waived a couple years ago because he was just that horrible? He is probably a great guy for the clubhouse, I'll give you that.
  22. Wait, you are telling me that you can't sign a guy like Sogard for 2 million or less? Ridiculous. that is way too much to spend on him, WAY too much.
  23. I think counting on Thames still being there once we exhaust all of our other options is risky. Everyday I log on expecting to see him signing elsewhere. At some point, it is going to happen, and by waiting, we will miss out.
  24. Who is griping? Seriously, since the main griper got a week ban, who is still griping about how Stearns is doing things?
  25. The most interesting thing about this signing is that this thread is now 5 pages long.
