Every single game is HUGE and IMPORTANT in September. How many times has it been posted that "this is the game we will look back on and be mad about if we end up a game short again this year." I'm tired of dismissing every blown game as it's just another game, 1 of 162. If not now, when is it important to win? I'm sure Counsell is a great guy and a great clubhouse presence, but is he the guy you want making line-ups in the play-offs and world series if we ever manage to make it that far? Is he the guy you want to handle the bullpen in crucial situations during the playoffs and world series? I ask that as a serious question, is he the guy? Also, I posted this today in yesterday's game thread but I doubt anyone is still reading that thread and I seriously want the answer to this question: Do any of the bench coaches have any input into how CC manages the bullpen or any other aspect of the game? Do any of them ever say, "Hey Craig, maybe we should consider getting someone up and loose just in case Soria continues to struggle." "Hey Craig, if Jesus gets on base, maybe we should think about an immediate pinch runner." Or does everyone on the coaching staff just sit there mute so as not to step on the manager's toes? I have often wondered what conversations take place and what conversations don't take place when events transpire...
