I'm sure many pitchers feel this way, but there are also some pitchers who enjoy batting. And there are even more pitchers who enjoy money and will play for who ever offers them the most regardless of which league they are in. Of course, but if given equal offers, are there possibly pitchers that would choose the AL over the NL team based on hitting? I'd have to think yes, but maybe not in every case. On the flipside, there may be pitchers who would rather face other pitchers rather than the DH, so maybe in that case, the NL gets the nod.

Years ago, I heard some talking head mention that there are some pitchers who would not sign with a NL team because they would have to hit. How often that happens, I don't know, but just another reason to even up both leagues...

Exactly. It's overblown. Players spend half the season on the road, and spend Spring Training in either Florida or Arizona. I think most players care most about some combination of money and winning. Unless a guy has roots in a certain area where they want to play and stay (like a Derek Jeter in New York), I think team location is mostly irrelevant. Unless that place is in Canada, eh?

I'm not interested in the politics of a player. I'm interested in what he does on the field and in the clubhouse. 100% agree. Politics has no business on the athletic field.

I looked down through pages of his tweets too, and I found nothing worth mentioning. Nothing at all.

I would love signing him, having him pitch for 3 years, then him opting out. That is a dream scenario if you ask me. Odds are though, if his decline starts before then (a likely situation), we would be stuck with that contract. I have such mixed feelings on signing this guy, they change daily.

As few as there are, there are precious fewer who continue to do it after they're 30. This would be extremely short-sighted. I'm confident that they're not even considering it for what TB is asking. ...and I hope and pray that you are correct.

Maybe you should have a look around the forums and see how we basically treat each other... Seems most of your posts are combative in some way. Just relax, and maybe think about how you phrase your comments. Your time here has been short, but not very positive.

Archer for 4 years doesn't seem to be enough in my eyes. That is a major haul, we trade all those pieces, where are we in a couple years with no arms on the farm ready to step in. This is all pretty risky, and compounded by the fact I am not high on Archer at all, this worries me.

Especially since we already got rid of Isan Diaz... I assumed that once Diaz was gone, Hiura would not be going anyplace.

To be honest, I'm getting sick of the Darvish show... I thought we might be in the running even recently, but the longer it takes, the more it seems that one of the big markets is going to get him.
