  1. That could be the end of any chance we have of landing Darvish. Too perfect that the freaking Cubs will be the ones to end that dream. Seriously? Because they signed a backup catcher? Um ... no. That's jumping to a pretty big conclusion. Back up catcher who catches all his (Darvish) games... Why else would the Cubs sign him? I think it is to bolster their chances of signing Darvish. Seems obvious to me.

  3. If it's true there are dominoes involved and it's a one time deal, I won't get my hopes up for anything to happen. We're the Brewers, we're destined for disappointment. the sky is falling? this is an exciting time, I don't know how those kind of negative thoughts can even be floating around in your head today!
  4. The thought of losing certain players that I have grown fond of over the years causes me anxiety, I will admit to that.
  5. Darvish is a FA so yes, could be both in theory. Yes, I get that, but what happens if Nelson comes back all guns blazing? I just didn't figure they would be adding 2 starters to the mix, but I guess you can never have enough starting pitching. I also do not put a lot of weight in Nelson being the same pitcher he was last year.
  6. Would Salazar mean the Darvish deal isn't happening? Could we be adding both? Still hate the idea of trading Santana, one of our only offensive weapons...
  7. Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports that the Brewers are getting close to a trade. The club has been shopping dynamic outfielder Domingo Santana this offseason, but have yet to find a potential match in any deal. The Brewers have a logjam of outfielders, so making a move prior to the start of spring training seems like an inevitability. Source: Jerry Crasnick on TwitterJan 21 - 5:44 PM
  8. Our offense is already a question mark, remove Domingo, and I don't like where we are headed offensively in 2018. Kapris is an injury risk. Don't like the idea of adding him and subtracting Santana one bit.
  9. By signing Darvish, does it take us out of the running financially for the crop of FA pitchers next year?
  10. Someone, please explain what trading Braun for Ellsbury would do for either team involved, thanks.
  11. I truly hope Broxton is that OF, but there is probably no way that will be the case. I have a sneaky suspicion that Santana is gone, and that makes me very sad.
  12. If it is Ellsbury, they would have to pay a large part of his contract. Why would we want to pay 20+ mil a year for the guy, when we could stick that $ into our own ACE? (Darvish this year, or a TOR next off season)
  13. not for what it will cost us in prospects, he is soooo over rated on this site, I truly hope it is not him.
  14. If only AZ would consider it, I'd take this deal in a heartbeat.
  15. I collect the 5x7 free cards that the players have at their tables, but I like them signed. If anyone comes away with extras, I'd be interested in them. I probably have some doubles from year's past to trade...
  16. Why is it that people get angry about owners making tons of money? I have seen this before, but I don't understand. It's their business, profit is what makes business either successful or unsuccessful. If owners aren't allowed to make money, who would be owning the teams? Should professional sports teams be non-profit organizations? I have no issues what so ever with owners getting filthy rich, I do have an issue with the un even playing field based on a number of things, I know some don't agree, but a salary cap is, and always has been needed in MLB.
  17. I think we miss Monroe more than anyone thought we would.
  18. Christian Yelich's agent told Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com on Tuesday that his client's relationship with the Marlins is "irretrievably broken." Yelich expressed surprise and disappointment last month when the Marlins moved Giancarlo Stanton and Marcell Ozuna, and now his trade request has become more of a trade demand. "The relationship between player and team is irretrievably broken," the agent, Joe Longo, said Tuesday. "It's soured. He's part of the old ownership regime. The new ownership regime needs to get new parts into this plan and move forward, and he needs to get on with his career where he's got a chance to win. The big issue is him winning and winning now." Yelich, 26, has drawn interest from the Nationals, Blue Jays, Giants, Phillies, Braves, and Rangers, but Miami's asking price is said to be sky high. Source: ESPN.comJan 16 - 7:22 PM
  19. *cough*cough*speak for yourself*cough*cough
  20. Andrew McCutchen has been told that he'll play a corner outfield spot with the Giants this season, per Buster Olney of ESPN. That was the expectation following the trade and it's now confirmed. Advanced metrics haven't been kind to McCutchen in recent years, so it would be a lot to ask him to play center field in AT&T Park. The Giants have Gorkys Hernandez and Steven Duggar in-house for center field, but the club continues to be linked to Lorenzo Cain, Jarrod Dyson, Jon Jay, and Cameron Maybin in the free agent market. It might not be the big splash with Cain, but it's reasonable to expect them to sign one of them. Source: Buster Olney on TwitterJan 16 - 2:20 PM Broxton not mentioned on possible CF targets...
