  1. This Narveson speculation has to stop. He will not be in our rotation next year, and if for some reason he is, he will not be effective. I see his name come up constantly in these threads, but the kind of surgeries he had, the best you can hope for is 2014, and then, why would we need him? Lots of youngsters will be ready to go at that time. I am seeing a lot of love for the guy, but including him in our rotation plans for next year has to stop. We will have FAR better options than a guy his age coming off major surgeries. The best we can hope for from him in 2013 is a long relief guy in the 2nd half. You can quote me on this.
  2. Would have made a lot more sense to pay Fielder 25 million per year than Hamilton, who has been pathetic most of this season. If he doesn't right the ship, no way I want to invest anything near those numbers in an aging, risky OF...
  3. How cool would it be to be an Angel fan this season. Adding Pujols and Greinke to your rosters has to be pretty fun as a fan.
  4. Well, he was the Angels back-up SS on their roster right now, you'd think that he would be as good as anything we have right now wouldn't you?
  5. I saw Pena pitch vs the T-Rats in 2010 I think... I have no memory of it, but I just looked at all my starting line-up sheets when the t-rats played the Cedar Rapids Kernals, and he was listed as the starting pitcher for one game.
  6. Way easier than starting-caliber SS. Check free agency any given year, lots of above-average 1B/3B/LF/RF. I am not arguing that finding a SS is harder than finding a slugger. Whatever, I'm done with this. We just got a SS, and I like it!
  7. I'm just saying that slugger talent isn't as easy to find, or buy as you say...
  8. Ummmmm, well, ok, forget it... Corner IF/OF with power? Not saying Mike Olt couldn't turn into a superstar, but in general his skillset is easier to buy through free agency. Assuming you have the inclination to be buyers, or have the money to spend on a slugger like that. We couldn't keep Prince...
  9. Well, then I guess Texas didn't want Greinke as bad as I thought... Bet it really frosts them that the Angels are getting him, they will now probably offer the fricking moon for Johnson or Dempster just to keep up to the Angels new aquisition.
  10. Segura's about to be "devastated." Yeah, going from a team with World Series possibilities to a team that is selling off their best players...
  11. If he pitches very little the rest of the year, I bet we get him back on a 1 year deal, possibly 2. If he heals properly, him getting hurt may just in fact be the best thing that could have happend for us,.
  12. http://www.yardbarker.com/mlb/articles/2011_angels_prospects_countdown_2_jean_segura/8736418 Says injury prone, but the rest of the book on this kid looks amazing, I'm guessing he starts right out of the gate in 2013!!!! Glad this is over...
  13. Was really hoping it was going to be to the Rangers... Can't feel too good about it since our ACE is now gone, but it was going to happen, so I hope this is the ebst package offered.
  14. Looks like we need a minimum of 10-15 more orders before this can happen...
  15. Adam McCalvy of MLB.com writes that Shaun Marcum's bullpen session Friday "did not go well." Uh-oh. There was optimism after Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Marcum's bullpen session on Tuesday went "really good," but he didn't feel so great Friday. It's not clear how they'll proceed, but Marco Estrada figures to keep his rotation spot for a while. Marcum hasn't pitched since June 14 due to right elbow tightness. Source: Adam McCalvy on Twitter
  16. Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports reports that the Angels "remain very much involved" in talks for a trade with the Brewers for right-hander Zack Greinke. Danny Knobler of CBS Sports reported earlier in the day Friday that the Angels might prefer Greinke over Rays right-hander James Shields and Marlins right-hander Josh Johnson. Likewise, Morosi notes that Greinke holds the Angels in high regard and would likely be amenable to signing a contract extension with the club if the price is right. The Braves, White Sox and Rangers are also hot on the trail for the impending free agent, though ESPN's Jayson Stark reported Friday that Atlanta is now prioritizing bullpen and bench help over adding another starter. 17. If Marcum comes back and finishes the year strong, there is no way he signs a one year deal with us. If he is injured off and on for the remainder of this season, or just can't pitch effectively from here on out, then I can see a one year deal.
  18. You guys are forgetting something very important. Aramis has a bobblehead scheduled to be given out in September. There are 45,000+ bobbles produced for his bobble day, no way he gets traded with that event on the horizon...
  19. How can anyone say the Reds won't make any drastic moves in the off season? I agree with RockCoCougars above. Once he walks away from the Brewers, and the offers start rolling in adding millions upon millions to what the Brewers can offer, I think he will be long gone.
  20. Lucroy to 2nd base? Why don't we just move him to SS, that would solve all our problems.
