  1. that's the thing, i really don't want to stay in this field. and for contacts, its pretty hard to have any contacts in the field when your chained to a desk all day staring at this stupid computer.
  2. I'm very interested in people's responses to find the best way to do this. I have worked at my job now for the past 8 years. It started out promising and interesting, but after the first couple of years, it has been getting worse and worse, until now when i can't even stand walking in the doors. There is just no room for advancement and is terribly boring. I have a college degree in Geography, so what keeps me from looking for a new job is really when I ask myself, "where the heck am i going to find a job with that type of degree?" I really want to get out of that line of work, but have no idea how to do so. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Thanks for all your replies. They mean a lot. Well, the surgery is set for July 25. I can't imagine what its going to be like, but I know she is scared. I went with her and my dad to the consultation at West Allis Memorial. The doc really seemed to know his stuff, and he seemed pretty confidant he could take care of it. She'll have to go through chemotherapy after, but they made it seem like with all the advances made and with all the drugs for appetite and pain and such, it won't be nearly as bad as say 10 to 15 years ago. It made me feel good just to be there for her, and she told me that I was really helping her in being so positive about it to her and that I was so sure she would be OK. I'm really glad I can put a happy face on in front of her, because when I'm not around her it is not as easy to be positive about it. I can only thank my son for being 18 months old and running around constantly to make me not dwell on this continuously.
  4. had my first one saturday night. on a tortilla with extra salsa. i thought it was very good
  5. thanks for all the kind words and ideas. the hardest part right now is she's very negative about it right now, and i have to find a way somehow to get her to be more positive
  6. Just found out that my mom has it. As one can imagine she is freaking out about it and is thinking of it as a death sentence. I've done a lot of research on it since finding out and am realizing it is somewhat common and the success rates are good. I think she is most scared of the chemo. and what it can do to you. I am trying to gather as much info as possible on this, as I have to be the "strong one" in the family, which is really difficult. Any ideas on what i can do to help get her through this would be great. I know my dad will be there but I can't imagine how helpless he is feeling, so I need to do all i can to help. Thanks.
  7. my job. this place is terrible. i've been doing the same thing for over 7 years with no promotion and no training or career development and nothing new on the horizon. i need a new career. thanks for the opportunity to rant.
  8. Does anyone have a clue how difficult it is or how you would even attempt to get your foot in the door?
  9. That's a good comment that we all like our sports in different ways. Some may like to question or complain about every decision or player, while others love watching the games and want their team to win, while not questioning every move or complaining about every player. Neither one makes you a better or worse fan, just makes the two groups difficult to watch a game with for each other.
  10. i would say both fans on this site, but casual fans are much worse usually. my guess is some people just look at the basic stats in the newspaper and make assumptions based on these. whereas a fan that really watches every game, has played the game in the past, can really look at the season as a whole better than the casual fan and determine who is having a decent year and who isn't.
  11. looks pretty much right on the money. Just shows how little many fans know about the game. case in point a guy i work with came up to me when Bush came ib relief last week just up in arms about it. I quote " Bush has sucked this year, his ERA is over 5, they just lost this game!" I told him that is not true at all. That he had been pitching very well of late, and even though his ERA wasn't that great. a few bad innings ib many of his early games led to this. He walked away with a strange, confused look on his face.
  12. sorry if he was just debating an in game decision, just seems like some people would question or have a problem with every decision ned makes. my bad
  13. quit acting like everything ned does is wrong. he's a decent manager, let's see how all you arm chair manager's would do in his situation. my guess. not great
  14. If you take out April for Spurling when he gave up 8 hits and a bunch of runs in two innings, he's actually been pretty good. Not sure why all the hate for him. Compared to some of the clowns out there last here, I'm looking at you Winklesas, he's darn good.
  15. never really got into phish, although i tried numerous times. there are a couple songs I don't mind of theirs, but i'll take widespread, the dead, or allman brothers any day of the week.
  16. i guess a agree he's a decent prospect, but he would not be held in as high esteem if he wasn't in a a new york farm system. i've seen probably close to a dozen threads in this forum about wanting to trade for him. you'd think he was the best thing since the wheel. plus he seems like a goon, what with his big rap album and perceived attitude problems. plus bill hall has a couple bad weeks and he's worthless, everyone gets in a slump, last year we wanted to make him king of milwaukee
  17. i'm so sick of so many people wanting to trade for milledge. he has not done anything and everyone thinks he's so great. he seems like a clunhouse cancer and someone the new york media builds up but will never be much of anything. i wouldn't trade bill hall for him if i had a gun to my head.
  18. hell, if i could still be in college i would definitely be there. it was way more fun than sitting here staring at a computer all day. i say more power too him, although he is kind of a tool for drawing all this publicity to it.
  19. i need to vent not at the brewers, but at some of the fans at the game on saturday. first of all i have no problem with college kids at all, i used to be one not too long ago. what irritates me are the meathead college kids in section 209 who insisted on switching seats and basically being a nuisance to anyone around them the entire game. do you really need to talk on the phone the entire game. sit down and grow up and watch the game!! also tough guys. the twins basically kicked our butts all over the field that night. if their fans that paid good money to be there, want to stand up in the ninth inning to cheer for their team, they desrve it, let them, without talking smack and flipping them off and trying to get in a fight and basically being @!%hole losers. grow up. i was very disappointed with many brewer fans that night. i drank probably just as much as you losers did that night, but i don't have to act like a tough guy dink about it, why do you?
  20. please let sheets keep pitching, bring in cordero in the ninth. we need this win. Fabio castro is pitching. is he relation to Fidel, or did his mom really like the original Fabio
  21. 8 K's today. good to see the old ben coming back.
  22. i wish we could get runs on anything besides home runs lately. this is getting ridiculous.
  23. i like some of it too, but i tend to listen to it a little longer and don't have to push the next flavor of the month right away. also he never buys any of these cd's he burns them all from some website, which annoys me for some reason.
  24. the hipster doofus in the cube next to me blasting the next new best indie band. what's the deal with hipsters who push there music on everyone as the best music and all others are awful. and whats the deal with these hipster doofuses who find it impossible to like anything from the past. it always has to be brand new music that no body has ever heard of and after a week will never hear of again
