  1. I wonder how many of you guys (if any) could outrun Prince in 90 feet? Ever see the gut that hung over the belt of Reggie White? How about Warren Sapp? Those 2 guys, as well as many other big guys, were flat-out great athletes. They were stronger, faster, and had more stamina than their smaller counterparts, and they were all those things for many, many years. Big does not necessarily mean poor health or lack of athleticism.
  2. Yes, Patrick. If not dead-on size and shape, I'd like to at least see some kind of guidelines in place. The cheap homeruns bug me, and I'd love to see more triples. Also, some of the quirks (the Houston flagpole for instance) make me borderline insane. What's next, a ferris wheel in left field?
  3. jeffyscott, It's just another instance of me showing my age. When I say "of late," I mean in the last 10 to 15 years. I often forget that to a lot of members here, 10 or 15 years is almost a lifetime. And there is no disrespect intended in that... I am constantly in awe at the knowledge here. I just try and keep up as best I can. I do, however, think that I should be promoted to "crazy old man."
  4. I own a dog that looks just like my avatar, and everyone swears he looks just like me.
  5. No DH. No artificial turf. ALL stadiums to have retractable roofs. Playing fields to be a regulation size and shape. Worldwide draft.
  6. I tried to watch soccer and like it, really I did. It was a few years ago when the world cup (or whatever it's called) was held in the USA. I turned it on, all ready to get into this thing. Here's how it went: A guy in a blue shirt was running along a big open field, kicking a ball in front of him as he went. A guy in a red shirt ran up and kicked the ball the other way. The crowd went wild. At this point, I turned off the tv and wished I had a baby seal to club.
  7. I just got the notice in today's mail. Starting August 20th, FSN-WI will also be in the HD tier on channel 761.
  8. I'm not a fan of the "every broadcast must have a female" trend of late, as it leads to bad things like the aforementioned Ann Carrol. Conversely, I think that a woman that is as good as (or better than) most male broadcasters should not be slighted in any way due to her gender. That being said, I hope Trenni stays on for a while before going national. She's the best broadcaster we have (outside the booth). Trenni and Cirllo should be the "on field" and "Brewers Live" team. The rest should all go. And while we're on the subject of broadcasters, I hope to God they secure the services of B. A. in the booth for a very long time. I can't even imagine Sutton screaming and salivating all over the place anymore (thank goodness). I've kinda been "anti Rock" for a while, but coupled with B. A. he's been great. I love the chemistry between them.
  9. It looked to me like Manny's jacket swung around and part of it hit Prince in the face while Prince was looking straight ahead. So they're walking along, carping at each other a bit, and Prince gets a (most likely accidental) smack in the face right out of the blue; then he goes off. I'd go off too. I'd probably feel bad about it once I found out the jacket to the face was completely unintentional, but in the heat of the moment I would have gotten all stupid. I'm not proud of it, just somewhat self aware.
  10. What exactly does Prince's weight have to do with it?
  11. Jude Tindall construction here in Twin Lakes. They do great work, and Jude is absolutely fanatical about customer service. They did some work for us last year and we couldn't be happier. If you're planning on coming this far Southeast, you might want to check them out.
  12. Thread title pretty much says it. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we got Durham; and even though I've always liked Jenks, I know he didn't do nearly enough here to warrant retiring his number. But it's going to take a bit to get used to seeing number 5 on someone else.
  13. Best post of all time. Well done, sir. Well done.
  14. I liked the Cameron signing for it's "fallout" (Braun to left, Hall to 3rd base). I still like it, even though Hall has struggled offensively.
  15. It may be time to give up the "small market" mindset. When Mark A. bought this team, it was losing money with a 28 million dollar payroll. The Sabathia signing just pushed payroll to 90 million, which may put the team slightly in the red this year. Attendance is great, and will continue to grow as the team progresses. For years, the Seligs said "If you (the fanbase) will fill the seats and give us the revenue, we'll build you a winner." We (the fanbase) said "No, you build us a winner and we'll fill the seats." Mark A. and company built us a contender, and we're filling the seats. We're also buying merchandise and the fanbase is spreading geographically. I think it can, will, continue to do so. Our Brewers are no longer a bottom-of-the-slag-heap team; on the field, or at the bank.
  16. Yesterday I stopped at a local watering hole for a burger and iced tea, and they had ESPN on the big tv. No sound, but closed captioning was on. Sadly, it looked like a monkey on crack was doing the typing, making it somewhat difficult to follow. Anyways, they had a bunch of stuff on CC, and at one point he appeared to say something like "I'm very excited to be here, and it's important that I be somewhere nice to raise my kids. We'll see what happens in the off-season." As I say, it was really hard to follow. T&^he c losedcapt*#(ion **in4g lo oked some fgdsa thi nglik e thi232s. Did anyone else catch it, and was it anything like I perceived it to be?
  17. I know it now . My apologies. Oh well. It's still fun to watch.
  18. This may be on the wrong board, but it is so amazing I thought everyone would want to see it.
  19. Hart is my favorite Brewer, although Braun's recent signing (and his comments) have raised him to a very close second. I would very much like to see the 2 of them play together as Brewers for many years to come.
  20. I found my way here due to whining at that other site. I'm way out of my league here when it comes to "die-hard-fan-itude" but I enjoy it here. I hope my avatar is up to standard.
  21. Jebus. It's pretty bad when ya get so old and blind ya can't read your own handwriting. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif
  22. Forgive me if this has been discussed already. I just got back from 2 weeks of vacation, and didn't see it as I scrolled back. As of this morning, the NL Central had the highest average winning percentage of all MLB divisions. I got this by adding each teams winning %, then dividing by the number of teams in the division (rounded to 3 decimal places via standard 5/4). Seeing as how each division will always be .500 within itself, these percentages are also "verses the rest of MLB." AL E = .502 AL C = .490 AL W = .501 NL E = .492 NL C = .523 NL W = .448 Maybe the stat gurus have a better way of figuring it. I just thought it could make for some interesting discussion. Thoughts?
  23. If Cameron hadn't been signed, we might very well be watching Braun at third. Anyone care to see that?
  24. She's a doll. Congrats to you and your bride.
  25. Someone said "there are many 20/30 somethings that have never had a domestic car in the driveway" (or words to that effect). There are also plenty of 20/30 somethings that have never had a better job than working at Burger King or Walmart, nor are they ever likely to. That's a very sad reality. The opportunities available to previous generations just aren't there anymore. Most of the good paying manufacturing jobs that were once available are now gone. The few that remain will soon be gone, if we don't change our ways. Where are your kids going to work... ? Please note: I'm not casting aspersions upon the work ethic of the aforementioned 20/30 somethings, I'm merely pointing out the ever dwindling job opportunities afforded them.
