  1. That's exactly what I was thinking.
  2. "I was going to write an article on this, but there is no need, I can’t say it any better than this…" Bravo. The story you deferred to was indeed well written; and sadly, most of the hacks out there today could not have resisted the urge to add their own take or spin to it. This type of humility should serve you well. Seriously. Well done.
  3. I remember that being brought up during a game sometime. They talked about how Yount thought it would produce more triples. Major League rules state that center field can be no shorter than 400 feet. That probably had more to do with it than anything Robin said. Do you happen to know when that rule came to be? I'm just wondering if it were in place when MP was built, or if maybe MP was the catalyst for the rule. If it was already in place, perhaps Yount is the one that brought it to the attention of the team and/or the general contractor. However it went down, I know there was a change.
  4. I remember during the "juiced ball era" seeing on TV (perhaps on "Sports Science") where they showed how the balls were made and the testing criteria for them. The balls were launched at a wall of wood at a certain speed and trajectory and the criteria was that they had to bounce back and travel "x" distance but no more than "y" distance. The balls at that time were travelling at the very high end of the limit and this was reported as being further than they had ever bounced before. So... "juiced", I would have to say no, as they were within the official guidelines but "livelier than ever before" I saw with my own two eyes. Make of that what you will. As for park factor, when MP was under construction, the original plan didn't have the "jutted out" part of CF where it's 400'. It was to be about 380'. When the change was made, the rumor on the job was that Yount (who was working for the team in some consulting capacity) demanded it. I have no idea if Yount brought about the change or not, but the change was indeed made.
  5. I'm with you, 100%.
  6. He's been referred to as Richie before, either in print or on television. I can't remember for sure where, but I think there was a bit of discussion about it on here. Hence the "alive and well" portion of the subject title.
  7. I find this appalling. Rickie's been in the majors for quite a few years now and has been an all-star, yet there are still baseball writers that can't even manage to get his name right. They managed to get "Khris" right, but can't handle "Rickie"? Story accredited to the Associated Press. "Richie Weeks and Carlos Gomez had RBI hits for the Brewers, and Khris Davis hit long home run over the grass berm in left-center in the seventh." http://www.foxsportswisconsin.com/03/05/13/Saunders-Morneau-help-Canada-beat-Brewer/landing_brewers.html?blockID=874223&feedID=5065
  8. [sarcasm]Well, I'm convinced; this entire team is terrible, from the owner right down to guys who may never even be on this team, but if they do end up on this team, they will surely be terrible. The sky isn't falling, it has fallen. We're all doomed.[/sarcasm]
  9. I bought the Linksys/Cisco EA4500 on eBay (from Cisco) and am completely happy with it. I get my full 100mb through it and the range is incredible. Everything works, everywhere in the house as well as the garage, even with the router located at one extreme end of the house.
  10. I've wanted Estrada over Narveson in the rotation since day one. If he ends up on the dirty end of the stick again I may very well lose what's left of my mind.
  11. "For me, the bottom line is as much as I've been skeptical of reports in the past, as sketchy as they might have seemed all of them I can remember ended up with the players accused being eventually found 'guilty'." That's probably because the ones that were not guilty, you (we) never heard about... just like you (we) were never supposed to have heard about Braun's test.
  12. I always hoped that instead of putting a man on base for free, Roenicke would have had whatever fireballing reliever was available at the time throw one into the dugout and bean TLR.
  13. The fact that it's been a year and we haven't heard anything about any litigation, pending or otherwise, is no surprise. I've been involved in litigious situations twice. Both were "slam dunk" cases, both were settled, and even those took between 2 and 3 years each. My lawyer told me right up front: "There will be long periods of time where it will seem like we're not doing anything. This will be because we're not doing anything. We make a move and then we wait; then we make our next move and then we wait some more. This is how it works. The wheels turn at the speed the wheels turn and there's nothing that I or anybody else can do about it." I appreciated his honesty.
  14. This is where I put a lot of blame on MLB. When Braun's appeal was over, they easily could have come out and admitted that improper handling/storage of a sample has been proven to cause false positives in the past (reference Modahl) and that they would change handling/storage criteria to________________ in the future. Instead, they admitted it by changing the criteria but never admitted it in public, fired Das and left Braun swinging in the breeze.
  15. Synthetic T was never found. Molecules of a comparable size were found that could have been Synthetic T or could have been something else, especially considering the irregularities in the storage/handling of the sample. You seem to be okay with the assumption of guilt (which is all there ever was for Synthetic T) but you consider anything less than concrete evidence to the contrary to be only an assumption of innocence and that assumption you are not okay with. I have a hard time grasping that.
  16. If this latest deal is tied to last year's suspension he most likely is indeed prevented from talking about it. I would think that the binding arbitration agreement that Braun legally entered into was, and is, extremely thorough in muzzling him and everyone around him. Forever. I want more information as badly as you do, Jim, but I just don't think that that lack of information says anything one way or another. I hope that some day we get the whole story.
  17. If I've read things correctly, almost any action taken by Braun could, and likely would (at least by MLB), be construed as a violation of the binding arbitration from his appeal. This would render the arbitration null and void and the suspension would go back in place. Braun could of course appeal it, but after the firing of Shyam Das I can't picture a second arbitrator ruling in Braun's favor. Again, that's if I've read things correctly. Perhaps someone else can shed further light on the subject.
  18. Could this also mean that Roenicke has it in his head to use Gonzalez very little at SS? Hopefully? I actually rather like Gonzalez but I want Segura to get every bit of playing time possible. As far as Gonzalez making the transition to 1b goes, how tough can it be to go from the most demanding defensive position on the field to the least demanding? Or am I, as is so often the case, missing something here?
  19. There's an article on the FS WI page about Gallardo stepping up to be the undisputed leader of the rotation. Near the end they talk about how Yo will likely face Braun and/or Lucroy in the WBC. I can only imagine the chess game between Yo and Luc and imagine Yo on the mound thinking something like "He know's, that I know, that he knows...." http://www.foxsportswisconsin.com/01/30/13/Brewers-Gallardo-determined-to-prove-sel/landing_brewers.html?blockID=856381&feedID=5065
  20. I'm with you, Jim. Possibly because I own a psychotic man-eating turtle. On another note, the Bucks are currently third in their division. If they were removed from said division and inserted into any other division, in either conference, they would be in third.
  21. http://www.foxsportswisconsin.com/01/23/13/Report-Morgan-signs-with-Yokohama-BaySta/landing_brewers.html?blockID=853749&feedID=5059
  22. That was a great read.
  23. I'll definitely look into this before purchasing a modem. We've had Charter for quite a while now, so hopefully I'll be able to purchase one and stop giving them the $7 per month.
  24. I ordered a refurbished Cisco/Linksys EA4500. The X2000 seems to have only a DSL modem. I didn't see any that include a cable modem and the EA4500 seems to have enough features so that it won't be obsolete by the time it arrives early in the week. I hope. I guess time will tell.
