  1. Has anyone ever been on the Leinenkugel's brewery tour? Me and some friends were considering road-tripping up, but I kind of want to know if it's worth it to drive the 6 hours from suburban Chicago to get there. Also, if we go for an afternoon tour, is there anything else to do in Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls, or would it be better off to just drive back.
  2. I was looking at futures odds for the Brewers and it looks like the Brewers are going off as 30/1 odds to win the World Series. They're giving the Brewers the same odds as the Braves and Blue Jays, slightly worse than the Dodgers, Rockies, White Sox, Mariners, and Padres at 25/1 and slightly better than the Twins and Cardinals at 40/1. Just for kicks, the Cubs are 12/1, and the favorites are the Red Sox at 7/2. The Brewers are 10/1 to win the NL Pennant and 9/5 to win the NL Central. It's strange that anyone would give the White Sox a better chance to win the World Series than the Brewers would, especially considering how they finished last year and the respective records. But when I go out to Las Vegas next month, I'll be sticking a futures bet on the Brewers. And one on the Royals, because hey, at 200/1, miracles might happen. All the line according to Bodog.
  3. Hilarious. Perfect. I sent it to one of my co-workers who loves Journey and the Cubs.
  4. I just got Era Vulgaris by Queens of the Stone Age. It's a great album, but, like all Queens of the Stone Age albums, if you listen to it in the wrong state of mind you start to feel like a serial killer and you have to turn it off.
  5. I don't think anyone knows all the rules in Baseball. That's why there's 4 umpires, they only have to know 25% of what's going on. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/tongue.gif
  6. Man, that's a kick between the wickets for Cappy. I hope he's able to get his head straight and turn it back around. To be fair to him though, the Brewers should have won on Sunday. Does this mean he's not a guaranteed starter for next year?
  7. Yeah, that makes no sense. ESPN has him credited with a save.
  8. Every White Sox fan I know is baffled by this one. Maybe they're thinking that if they have the money they can unload him next year and be on the hook for the salary. It would make him an easier trade if other teams didn't have to pay for him.
  9. I voted for Prince, and I think it's a good thing that Prince is having the year he is. You have to figure in years past, the Sausages would have been first or second. I doubt the casual baseball fan knows any Brewers players besides Prince or maybe CoCo. But you ask anyone from Kansas City, Tampa, Detroit, Seattle, or some other team that really never plays the Brewers, the first thing they'll think of is the Sausages. Edit: I mean look at the ESPN Magazine article. What was in there besides Prince? The Sausages. The face of your franchise, at least to me, is the most recognizable player/thing.
  10. Yeah, I guess the sobering reality now of being in last place with no hope of getting out sets in now for Giants fans.
  11. Awwwww..... It is a shame what happened to their relationship. Maybe we can bring Cecil to Miller Park, Prince can strike him out, then they can go to McDonalds for a double cheeseburger and everything will be ok. But something tells me if Prince throws to Cecil now, it's going to be a little bit of chin music. Mickey Tettelton.
  12. If Hardy doesn't hit 2, who does hit 2? Graffy? To be honest, I'd kind of forgotten about J.J. Hardy. Maybe just because he hasn't been horrible, and he hasn't been lights out.
  13. I work for a company that makes sensors for factory automation doing order entry/inside sales/etc. and it bugs the crap out of me when people call in and don't get to the point as to why they're calling. It'll go like this: Me: Thank you for calling, how can I help you. Them: Yeah <2 second pause> I've got a sensor here. <5 second pause> It's black. (note: all of our sensors are black) Me: Ok... Them: I think it's a, uh, er, umm, my part number is AX-4245. Me: Do you know what my part number would be? Them: Well, yeah it's a 94832. Me: Ok...and what were you looking for with this part? Them: I need to know how many you have. Me: Looks like we have 10 in stock This goes on and on for like 10 minutes where they ask about 15 questions before I realize they actually wanted to place an order, and if they just would have said, "Hi, I'm calling from whatever company and I want to place an order, but I need to make sure you have the part in stock." it's a 2 minute call. So if you're calling in, just say what you want.
  14. I hope Rickie Weeks has a spare bedroom for Matt Wise.
  15. At least you know they're not happy about the way things have been going. Will we see Damian Miller back to #1 catcher next year?
  16. Congrats to whoever it is. Go to Buffalo Joe's, then drive into Skokie to the Ubaa. Good times.
  17. He needs to be done sometime soon. It'll be just silly to have a 50 year old major leaguer.
  18. I ran 4 miles, watched some Big Brother, now I'm playing The Bigs for the XBox. But I paused that to do something I wasn't supposed to.
  19. Maybe Gabe Gross or Tony Gwynn Jr. in Left Field? Both have played games this year in left, and it doesn't strike me as being to hard of a switch.

  21. This is exciting baseball. It's not fun to run away with the division. Then you get complacent as a fan. I love this living and dying with every box score.
  22. I've done this before and if it's a real Cubs fan they say, "Oh, thanks. Yeah it is exciting." and if it's not, you'll get stammering, awkward silence and a "Well, the Brewers suck!" I've taken to killing Cubs idiot cubs fans with politeness and they don't know what to do.
  23. I highly doubt there's any player in any professional sport that doesn't want to win. Seeing as being a professional baseball player is way more of a life commitment than many other jobs, if you truly didn't care how you played, you wouldn't ever make it to the highest level.
  24. The one I wonder about is why the Orioles are in the top 10. They've been bad for a while and every time I've gone to a game in Baltimore, the stadium has been half empty.
  25. Barry Bonds is about the only player I truly dislike. I have mild loathing for Gary Sheffield, David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez.
