  1. Felipe Lopez now pitching for the Cardinals. I find it funny that the late local news is supposed to be on, and instead a game that started at 3 in the afternoon is delaying it.
  2. I was at the game today, and I had a fantastic time. I was a little worried with the pitching match-up that I'd be driving three hours each way to see the Brewers get shelled, but Suppan was better than expected with the wind blowing out, not good mind you, but kept us in it, and luckily Zambrano was off his game as well. Wrigley gets ragged on a lot here, but I loved it. I took my dad for his birthday, neither one of us had ever been to Wrigley before. The atmosphere in and around the stadium and surrounding neighborhood was so different than a game at Miller Park. Not that I'm ragging on Miller Park, I love our stadium, I think each are great in their own ways. We had lunch at a bar across the street from Wrigley, and every single Cub fan that talked to us in and out of the stadium was as nice as could be. We had excellent seats right behind home plate, and with that, the weather, and the Brewer victory, it was as perfect a day as I could have hoped for. If you've never been to Wrigley, I highly recommend it, it's someplace you have to visit at least once if you're a baseball fan, it just has a different feel of other ballparks.
  3. Conan initially refused to go to TBS because he wouldn't bump anyone out of his show. Lopez called Conan personally to assure him he was ok with it. Fox wanted Conan, but all the legalities surrounding the affiliates and getting time slots cleared made the TBS deal more attractive for Conan, where he'd get full national coverage at 11. This works well for everyone, Lopez is smart, he knows Conan will be a fantastic lead in for him, so he graciously agrees to move to midnight. Lopez already had the youngest late night audience in television, which works well for Conan, who also skews younger, and now suddenly TBS is a big player in late night, and they're going to be getting the young audience, which all the advertisers desire.
  4. Wasting Coffey and Hawkins on one batter each suddenly doesn't look so good. Vargas is the only righty left in the pen.
  5. Trevor hasn't looked so great this year. He's allowed runs in three of his four appearances.
  6. Man, even Jon Miller seems irritated by Morgan's stupidity.
  7. With Carpenter pitching and national TV again tomorrow night, I don't like our chances of avoiding a sweep.
  8. Going to head out to Milwaukee soon. According to the Brewers Facebook status, for the first time in Miller Park history, the roof will be open on Opening Day! Can't wait!
  9. Couldn't it just be covered in plexiglass, or whatever the left field wall uses?
  10. These look great, much better then the Packer plates, IMO. I was hoping they would have the blue background, because I have a blue Eclipse. I just have to figure out which style goes better with my car.
  11. I'm guessing the skit will be tonight. The new Hall of Famers always get a segment at Wrestlemania.
  12. Man, Ueck killed as usual. Plus we got some new wrestling related stories instead of his usual shtick, although he did open with the signing bonus joke. A very nice and hilarious speech.
  13. Oppo shot by Prince against a lefty, beautiful.
  14. I have tickets to the April 15 game at Wrigley, the debut game for the #5 starter, so I selfishly want Narveson or Parra in the rotation, because I really don't want to drive 3+ hours to watch Suppan get knocked around. I'm really pulling for Narveson, the guy was a big time prospect for the Cardinals before injuries, and did great as a starter in September, I'd love to see what he does with a chance in the rotation, I think he is a real candidate to have a breakout season.
  15. It was pretty good, it's going to be rerun a bunch of times tomorrow. Some nice interviews with Wolf, Zaun, Hoffman, Braun, and Melvin. Plesac predicted the Brewers would win the wild card. Jon Hart predicted us tied for third. Their list of top 9 moments in franchise history: 1. Cooper's 2 RBI single in game 5 of the ALCS 2. Team Streak going 13-0 3. Clinching the wild card 4. Molitor's 5 hit game in game 1 of the World Series 5. Higuera winning 20 games 6. Molitor's 39 game hitting streak 7. Nieves no hitter 8. Yount's 3000th hit 9. Prince hitting 50 HR This is going totally on memory, so I might have flipped one or two around. I don't think Higuera winning 20 should be so high up, and I'd have put the wild card at #2, but otherwise it's a decent list.
  16. Game is not blacked out on MLB Network, and it's in beautiful HD.
  17. So I'm watching the Yankees/Pirates on MLB Network, and it's the Pirates broadcast. It's basically a three-hour commercial for Pirates season tickets packages, to the point where the announcers are reading off names of people that ordered a ticket package today and thanking them on air. It's not bugging me that the Brewers don't have to resort to that stuff anymore.
  18. Haha, that's fantastic. My avatar is a picture of him and Andre the Giant at Wrestlemania 4, one of the most classic Mania moments ever. With Wrestlemania being in Phoenix this year, I suppose it's easy for Uecker to make the trip to the Hall of Fame ceremony.
  19. I was trying for tickets this morning and all three Brewer games were sold out by 9:15. Disappointing, I was hoping to see the new stadium. Looks like tickets are going fast, the entire first week of games in April is sold out too.
  20. With zero options left, I don't think there's anyway he makes it through waivers unclaimed, and I'll be very upset if we lose him for nothing while Suppan is on the team solely because of his contract. Narveson is exactly the kind of pitcher the Brewers should be coveting. Young, huge upside, and under our control for years. Remember, he was a top prospect for the Cardinals who only fell out of favor because of injuries. I'd much rather take a chance on Narveson and eat Suppan's contract if it comes to that. If he pitches at all like he did last September he would be more than serviceable as a #5 starter.
  21. I just edited my original post to say that it's letting me listen now, so it looks like all the webcasts are free, and asking to subscribe was just a mistake. Also, is it wrong of me to want Suppan to get hammered in spring so he possibly wouldn't start the season in the rotation?
  22. So are the webcasts free or not? I was able to log in and listen with no problem on Friday, and the Brewers home page specifically says it's a free webcast, but when I try to log in today it keeps prompting me to subscribe to MLB Audio. Edit: Just tried again, and it's letting me listen no problem, so apparently the having to subscribe thing was a snafu.
  23. Vasgersian did play-by-play for ski jumping in the 2006 Olympics as well.
  24. It used to be the choice of the player, but after the controversy around Boggs and Winfield, the HOF took over choosing which cap the player wears.
