  1. Nope, still thinking May 19th.
  2. I can understand people liking Gwynn over Gross, even though I don't agree. But I'm not real sure the jury is still out about Gwynn v. Cameron. I don't recall when the jury was ever out about that.
  3. I'm not sure how acknowledging this helps anything, though. You can accept his honesty and figure out something to help him get his confidence back, or you can plea with 30,000-40,000 fans every night not to boo him. I'll take option A.
  4. Yeah, there's not a chance in the world that I'm gonna start complaining about Mark as an owner. The fact that we're even discussing things like extending Fielder and Braun and Sheets, whether it happens or not, means I like our owner. And I agree with brewmann, Mark knows exactly what's going on right now, and I imagine he already has an idea what to do about it. As far as calling people's fandom into question, I don't think that's necessary in this situation, from either side. No one is sitting there rooting for the Brewers to lose. I understand the frustration, because it feels like a win like last night gets everyone psyched up again and gives Ned another chance, but how many of those chances does he get? Everytime the team does something good, Ned gets another vote of confidence. Then he continues to fail...but then he does something good again, gets another vote of confidence...and fails. That story is getting old. I don't want the Brewers to lose, I just want them to admit that not every win, even in dramatic fashion, is Ned turning a corner. Just get rid of this moron.
  5. Not sure if this has been posted yet, but this might help some people. Specifically: If the preparation fee was automatically taken out of your refund, then your stimulus return will come as a paper check.
  6. Baseball players have conditioning regimens? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. I wouldn't mind swapping McClung and Bush just to give it a try. But I agree that it shouldn't come at the expense of Parra or Villy. I know previously I had hoped that Parra would see some time in AAA yet this year to figure some things out, but hopefully he turned a corner last night with a semi-decent outing. For some reason, Bush just can't get stretched out enough to be successful after 5 or 6 innings. I would trust him more as a reliever than McClung, so maybe he'll be a good guy to have in the pen while Parra and Villy figure things out and sometimes have early high pitch counts.
  8. 1. I'll skip this one since my position is probably well-known. 2. I think McClung can be okay in the position that he's in right now, which is mop-up. If he starts getting thrown into tight spots, the pressure seems to take over his control. But his stuff is good enough that he'll be fine, assuming we have more mop-up games and quit it with this 1 run game crap. 3. I like the idea of bringing up Branyan, but the thought just annoys me because we had Gross and traded him, and I personally would rather have Gross than Branyan (don't kill me!). 4. I agree that bringing up Weaver might be a little premature, but it depends on how we plan to use him. If the idea is just to use him for a month to give our regular starters a break, then now might not be a bad time. But if the idea is that he'll be a solid contributor for the long stretch (please no) and possibly playoffs (crossing fingers), then we might as well wait and just bring him up right before the June 1st deadline on his contract. That is, unless it seems like he'll stay no matter what. 5. Not so sure I like the idea of bringing up LaPorta either. I'm not completely sure of the rules on this, but is there any way to bring him up for a few interleague series and NOT start his arby clock? I don't like the idea of possibly sacrificing future prospects and the amount of time they can spend here just for that one win-now season, especially since we don't even have a winning record right now.
  9. Wouldn't logic tell you to wait until he flips it to 2nd before you run? Maybe I'm wrong, but the only result of the contact play seems to be that there is only one guy thrown out instead of two. But then you sacrifice the run, and a very important one.
  10. All statistics aside, it was just really cool to see SOME emotion from those guys last night, and even more cool to see it from Weeks.
  11. Sadly enough, I agree...but ouch http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif This is completely unfair. I thought Ned did a decent job last night, but by no means do I think that makes him a good manager. If he has turned a corner and starts changing things around, I will take notice. But I'm not gonna say he's suddenly great because of one game.
  12. "For the moment, the jazz is playing; there is no melody, just notes, a myriad tiny tremors. The notes know no rest, an inflexible order gives birth to them then destroys them, without ever leaving them the chance to recuperate and exist for themselves.... I would like to hole them back, but I know that, if I succeeded in stooping one, there would only remain in may hand a corrupt and languishing sound. I must accept their death; I must even want that death: I know of few more bitter or intense impressions." -Jean-Paul Sartre And to show that Sartre actually knew a thing or two about jazz.... I'm very glad to have met you. I like your playing very much. ~ Charlie Parker to Jean-Paul Sartre
  13. Man, with all the managers on here, I'm starting to feel less special about being a manager. Thanks for ruining my Friday everyone http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. I would be fine with this as an answer from Ned if he would just say it and tell us why. But his way of telling us why is to say that he's a run-scorer and that we don't understand that concept. If we don't understand that concept, perhaps he could explain it a little better. But unfortunately, I don't think he can. I wouldn't be terribly disappointed if Weeks got dropped to #6 or #7 for a little while until he starts hitting better. That's not to say that I think the switch will specifically do him any good, but that at his current clip, he's not the kind of hitter I would want getting the most PAs. I would definitely like him to be the leadoff guy for the future though, and I think he'll eventually get there. So yeah, my vent is that I'm a little tired of hearing from Ned how little we all know about baseball. I think that runs scored can be a useful statistic, but it's not the be-all end-all.
  15. Branch manager for a small credit union.
  16. Fair enough.
  17. This is probably the most accurate post I've read on this site in quite awhile. Define "soon". Ned Yost thinks "soon" is quite awhile from now. Ryan Braun thinks "soon" has passed.
  18. We aren't the Cubs from last year. Not even close. If we're not the '82 Brewers, then we're also not the '07 Cubs, or the '07 Phillies, or the '07 Rockies. It's getting tiring to be compared to other teams all the time. Was anyone watching the way Piniella was reacting when his team was playing like crap last year? There was tension all around that team and Piniella was leading the charge. Ned, on the other hand, says that everything will be all right. We're not the '07 Cubs. If there's not tension surrounding this team right now, then there should be. I'm overreacting because I think the entire team should be overreacting the way Braun did on Tuesday night. Now we need our manager to say stuff like that, rather than talk about how we're battling and things will come around.
  19. The veteran leader Graffanino stepped up last season, and his main gripe was about Yost.
  20. If one or two guys aren't listening and are doing this kind of stuff, then yeah, I think you point to the player. But when the entire team is doing it, you have to wonder if there's a reason that NONE OF THEM are listening to Yost. If one or two people don't listen to him, it's their problem. If an entire team stops listening, there has to be a reason.
  21. 7-2, 1 out and 2 runners on. Starting to feel like a bit of a rally after a couple hits. Fielder and Hart both on the bench. Bring on Gwynn, Ned. Bring on Gwynn.
  22. What does it mean that we don't have any concept? Concept of what? That getting on base leads to runs?
  23. Now he changed it to 82. Yeah, he must have been reading the comments section cause those guys were ripping him apart, and that was one of the comments by an observant reader.
  24. It could also be argued that Yost was good for this team for those first several years, but at the point they're at now, he's not of any further use. He was good for a young team trying to rebuild, but it seems like we're there now and Yost hasn't adapted. I think because of that, Melvin gets a little extra time. But I agree, if Melvin keeps hanging on to him while the team suffers, the fingers will start getting pointed at Melvin. Melvin may have been good at acquiring talented ballplayers, but that's not his only job.
