  1. Sometimes the light just goes on for these guys. He's a month younger than Weeks and we haven't given up on him yet. Obviously the guy has potential. Rock and BA were talking how his bat is lightning fast and that he can wait til the ball is deep in the zone and still drive it. Not a lot of guys can do that
  2. McGehee has appeared at 2nd several times. And he has sounded more than adequate. I am leaving for Maryvale tomorrow so hopefully I can get an up close look at him and post my observations on here
  3. Very true, but to me he fills a need for us so I would rather keep him and get rid of Lamb than trade him. I really like what he has done so far. Not once this spring have I heard the announcers make it sound like he even came close to booting a ball - whether it be at 3rd or 2nd - and I have heard at least part of almost every game
  4. I would think that should be the Bush we see considerings that is when he told Maddux to stick it and went back to pitching the way he feels comfortable. And Parra can only be better this year I would think
  5. I will be quite surprised (and disappointed) if McGehee doesn't make this team
  6. No idea how it will all work out in the end, but in the mean time it sure is nice to picture Hardy to Escobar to Fielder DP's!
  7. I'd be surprised if Nixon agreed to go to AAA, but you never know. I haven't seen McGehee play at 2nd (yet) but from listening he has been more than solid so far in the limited chances he has had. Turned at least 1 DP that I can recall
  8. The one I can't stand is when someone says "the pitcher just beamed that guy in the back." Um, no. It's beaned
  9. I think so and I think they will both make the squad
  10. I was actually being serious about the play - Uecker said at first it was big trouble for the 3rd baseman, but then said he made a terrific play to nab Rickie
  11. What??? Rickie trying to bunt for a hit?! And then of course Sandoval makes a great play to completely deter Rickie from trying that again for the rest of the season
  12. G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG 2007 Brewers 151 592 89 164 30 1 26 80 274 40 73 2 3 .323 .463 .277 2008 Brewers 146 569 78 161 31 4 24 74 272 52 98 2 1 .343 .478 .283 [/pre]I don't think I would call these numbers "pedestrian" for a 3rd baseman. I see your point though. To me it seems like more of a pride thing combined with the fact that Hardy's numbers are pretty dang good for a SS. He knows he is above average defensively and as steady as they come in combination with the fact he is only 26 and coming into his prime make it a pretty tough pill to swallow to be asked to move from the position he loves and has worked so hard to have for a top prospect that has yet to prove his self at the MLB level. I would hate to see them lose either one of them. I hope when push comes to shove that Escobar is as good as advertised and Hardy takes one for the team and moves to 3rd. I think he would be an unbelievable 3rd baseman. (edit: chart prettification --1992 http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif)
  13. Thanks for all the info guys. My tv is a Samsung 50" DLP (HLS 5088W) with 1080P cabability, but obviously that isn't an option until someone starts broadcasting in that resolution. I switched it from 1080i to 720P last night so I will have to see if I notice any difference. I love that tv though!
  14. Yeah, I guess I was just going off the people that are in camp right now. Melvin may very well find the answer we are looking for outside of the organization. McGehee did drive in 92 runs at AAA last year and he has shown decent gap and some HR power and is a good defender so I think we could do worse. I totally agree that we don't want Counsell playing more often than not. But at the same time we have seen what Counsell can contribute with his defense and clutch hitting/good AB's and I don't feel like Lamb offers much in either department. I guess I am just somewhat intrigued by McGehee. He has not seemed overmatched. Ultimately I will just be very disappointed if Lamb makes the team because I think the Brewers can do much better
  15. Thank you Tailgat0r
  16. Leavin on thursday - probably see you there!
  17. I would give my left arm to have Youkilis on the Brewers
  18. Just wondering which is supposed to provide a sharper picture when viewing HD channels on your TV? Thanks
  19. By no means am I a Counsell fan, but I would take him over Lamb platooning with Hall any day - especially defensively. And I don't necessarily think that 3rd base is going to be a platoon. I really think Hall is going to step up and take the reins this year. Plus Counsell looks rejuinated now that he has a normal stance and has his hands down where they should be. So then you have Counsell to back up at 3rd, SS, and 2nd. And if you are of the opinion like I am that Duffy and Nelson are going to be the 2 backup outfielders it would make sense to have another righty on the bench when the predominantly right handed normal starting lineup is out there because your only RH PH option on those days is Rivera if McGehee doesn't make the team. So IMO McGehee making the roster makes a ton of sense; especially seeing he has some pop. And I don't get the sense that Macha has been real impressed with Lamb - I know I sure haven't been. He looks old, stiff and slow.
  20. Thats lame that Braun isn't starting. Thanks for info casey
  21. Anyone know who the starting pitcher is for Venezuela??
  22. Great post JJHardy7!! Another big thing Nellie has going for himself right now is that Macha really seems to like him and Macha said it was his job to come to camp without any preconceived notions about any of the players. So I would so that definitely points to what Nelson has accomplished so far in camp. I really don't see how he can't make the team. I think him and Duffy will both make it. I am soo completely unimpressed with Lamb. He looks stiff in the field, has a marginal arm, and at the plate completely reminds me of Counsell when he is at his worst - playing pepper with the 2nd baseman. I truly hope McGehee makes it over Lamb
