  1. I just went back and re-read the latest P50. Our system is so, so deep with guys that profile as above average. That is huge when you can combine them with the 3 studs at the top (Lawrie, Odorizzi, Gamel). And twobrewers, I think that is why no draftees crack the top 20. Obviously, Covey would have but that in no way was the organization's fault.
  2. H'Ville knocking around highly thought of prospect Alex Cobb pretty good in the first inning.
  3. I pretty much agree jdoz. I was checking out his numbers this morning actually, and he has kept the obp in .360 range all year, a full 100 points above his avg. He is taking a step forward no doubt. He won't be a star, but he should have a decent career when all is said and done.
  4. Odorizzi said he was able to throw all four of his pitches for strikes, which kept the kernels from keying on any one pitch. Eighty of his 118 pitches were strikes, supporting his claim. That's nice!
  5. So awesome, especially for a college closer converted to starting. With him, Nelson, Miller and Thornburg pitching very well, Idk how anyone can call the 2010 class a disappointment. This could be our best pitching class yet! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. Eric Hosmer had a down year in 2009 (.241/.334/.361). What a difference a year makes. Hosmer is ripping the ball this year. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=hosmer001eri .340/.408/.573 with 18 bombs and a 54:59 BB:K. Nice comeback Eric! I know he had lasik in the offseason and he did struggle through some nagging injuries last year. Still, with Moustakis and Hosmer coming soon, the Royals should have a nice middle of the order. Edit: It's turnarounds like Hosmer's that should give Arnett fans hope. Guys can and do turn it around. Imagine how crappy KCroyalfan.net members felt after they thought they had 'wasted' the #3 overall pick on Hosmer. (I know, HS/College, etc., I didn't say it was a perfect comparison.)
  7. Ok, I want to blame that one on Matt Eddy of BA. Long story. Two very impressive prospects to say the least.
  8. bump-a-dump On 24 year old Amaury Rivas: "He has a tremendous arm," Huntsville pitching coach John Curtis said. "He's got a real good fastball and changeup combination, plus a pretty good slider. He pitches in the low 90s and hits the mid-90s."
  9. "He has a tremendous arm," Huntsville pitching coach John Curtis said. "He's got a real good fastball and changeup combination, plus a pretty good slider. He pitches in the low 90s and hits the mid-90s. Yesssssss!!!!!
  10. Check out Derek Lee clone, and youngest hitter in all of AAA, Freddie Freeman's line: http://www.baseballameric...ayers/cards/?pl_id=32395 he is hitting .371 since the AAA all-star break. Needless to say, the braves will not be after Prince this winter. Atl has a very nice future with the uber-prospect pitchers and Freeman coming up.
  11. Yes, Mat Gamel is, and pretty much always was, a top hitting prospect.
  12. Just a clear case of someone thinking their poo-jols don't stink. Question, and maybe I am way off here, but have these dopes ever dropped the respect hammer on a white boy? Except for the time they chastised the entire brewer team, they always seem to target the black/latino/etc players. I say this realizing their best player is Albert.
  13. Yea, DHonks. Salome with a granny. Merklinger with 12 K's through 8 innings. Very impressive.
  14. Well, I want to defend the 2010 draft class a little. Matt Miller, Jimmy Nelson, and Tyler Thornburg have been outstanding so far. Hunter Morris is holding his own, and it's safe to say his power is translating to pro ball. Cody Hawn has been raking. John Dishon was a steal. Neda, Rivera, and Pierce have all-star upside. Even guys like Mike Walker, Nick Shaw and Greg Holle have some potential. As for the rest of the farm, I like the WI roster the best. Especially since Davis and Morris were added to the lineup. I always check out Cutter and Kentrail's lines. Hecky is a breakout guy. I always have been attached to Scarpetta too. I also want to mention that I miss Rob Wooten.
  15. Last week I predicted he would be MiLB POY. It's basically between him, Lawrie, Gennett, and Khris Davis. The best part is the obp and K:BB. The second best part is he has been very consistent throughout the season.
  16. Unfortunatly, this site has become full of negative nellie's who like to kneejerk react to everything. It's one thing to be negative (realistic?) if you know all the facts, but that hardly seems the case lately. Anyways, I think Arnett will be much better next year. Year 2 of getting comfy with mechanical adjustments will help a lot. So will injury diagnosis (if he is hurt). I am dead serious when I say I am willing to give Eric a half decade to figure things out. A guy with his stuff and pedigree deserves many chances. Seriously people, our own Colbyjack witnessed Arnett's abilities while he was in college. Our scouts are fine. In fact, I think they are very good.
  17. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/100740249.html Covey said it appears most teams are waiting to make their offers until the final day so one signing won’t influence another. Collusion? Commissioner Office forced collusion? Idk, it just doesn't seem right to limit the earning potential of these poor youngsters. I think Darrell is a Dylan fan (duh). "I know I'm Dylan's dad and I'm biased but the Brewers would be lucky to have him. He has a curveball that's out of this world and he can throw in the mid to high 90s (mph) consistently. And he's a great kid. We think they know that."
  18. I think he profiles much better then Katin. Here is what Isom had to say: http://www.postcrescent.com/article/20100815/APC021102/8150550/-1/baseball "He has a pro approach at the plate. He understands the strike zone and gets pitches to hit, and when he squares up balls, there are not many guys with the power that he has. He can hit a ball a long way. He's going to be a guy who hits home runs, an RBI type guy" -Isom
  19. Rivas has done everything I had hoped for him this year. Lawrie with 3 doubles so far. Chris Nowak has been productive for Huntsville. Scarpetta is going good too. Komatsu, of course, with a ht and a walk. Hunter Morris unleashed two bombs today. Kentrail had a triple.
  20. Gamel with two OF assists tonight. Maybe his arm needed to be unleashed, not harnessed?? Dykstra with three doubles from the lead-off spot for WI. Can't get the BC box to work. Hopefully Hecky was decent. I know he left the game w/o a chance at the win, but the damage didn't seem to bad.
  21. He changed his mechanics, much like Odorizzi, except he was thrown into the fire right away because of age. He hasn't performed well, but it doesn't really matter. Along the lines of TLB's comment, does JJ Hardy have it or not have it? What about Corey Hart? Ryan Braun? This isn't MLB 2011 for X-box 360. Real peaople struggle and have bad years. I have heard good velocity reports on Arnett this year as well. Plus, his slider seems to have as much movement as ever. My guess is that the mechanical tweaks and the expectations have gotten to him a little. I'm sure Melvin and Gord will throw in their two cents on the situation at some point in the coming months. Release him? Please.
  22. Chris has been fantastic this year with his blog and everything. That guy is going somewhere.
