  1. What a crazy first round. The Astros, Cubs, and Giants are hopeless imo. I think the Blue Jays, Red Sox, and Rays were the obvious big winners. The Nats too. The Jays got three really quality arms. The long break between rounds will give teams a chance to re-gauge Allie. If he looks remotely signable, the Brewers won't have a chance.
  2. Ranaudo would be sweet. I'm still hoping Cox slips like I have seen in a few mocks. Tomorrow will be the most interesting though. Will they go over slot a few times? They better.
  3. Yesssssssssssssssssss! I love this time of year. Nothing like a fresh infusion of guys to follow on the Link Report.
  4. Law has Mock 4.0 up. Anyone have insider?
  5. Yea, even with the low-ish K rate, Heck has been spectactular. In 50+ innings, he has given up 1 homer and 9 walks (+\- 1). he has been unhittable for the last month. He is having a Porcello-esque season. Just like Rick, Kyle has great stuff, but seems to have decided that efficiency is the name of the game. Hopefully, he ramps it up a bit when he needs a K. That ability could make him really good.
  6. Lorenzo Cain is ready and Gindl is very close. If we trade Hart, I def. want Cain in the OF somewhere.
  7. Khris Davis is having a fantastic year. I say move him AND Gennett up and put Dykstra back at second. The offense would be putrid, but we need to start rewarding guys for consistently great play. What do I know though. I guess we just gotta trust the system and the plan.
  8. Colby, what's your take on Matt Harvey? Could he be a guy, similar to Kentrail Davis last year, that Seid snags despite his falling stock? I know he is rising slightly since the year started, so it's not quite the same situation. His stuff is pretty unquestioned at this point I would think (i.e. it's pretty great). I would love a Cox/Machado/J. Sale type if they end up falling slightly. Choice is also very intriguing in a poor-man's Mike Trout sort of way. The hitter I am starting to zero in on is Austin Wilson. he is by far the closest thing to a Heyward/Mike Stanton guy in this draft. It will take a lot to sign him away from Stanford, but at 14, I'm pretty sure he would sign. Colon/Castellanos/Grandal would make a lot of sense at 14 too, I guess. The ceiling on those guys is not what I'm looking for though. No H.S. pitcher really excites me after Taillon. Whitson/Cole/Covey/Sanchez/etc. are all very projectable, no doubt, so it's not like I would be all that upset. I'd rather take one of Chris Sale/Ranaudo/McGuire/Harvey. That reminds me, if you were the Brewers, would you even consider drafting Ranaudo in the first? That's another Kentrail Davis situation. The guy was a consensus top 3 just a few short months ago. Now I have seen him falling all the way out of the first round. Top 5 Hitters you reasonably expect to be there at 14: 1. Cox (would have to slip a bit) 2. Wilson 3. Josh Sale 4. Choice 5. Colon Top 5 Pitchers: 1. Chris Sale (would have to slip a bit) 2. McGuire 3. Harvey 4. Ranaudo 5. Whitson Taillon, if he falls, has to be the pick though. Pay him. Just do it, and forget about it. He is Jeffress with polish and poise. Jenkins/Allie/Workman/Covey just missed my top 5. If guys go about where they should, I would take Austin Wilson or Matt Harvey with Josh Sale, Chris Sale, Cox, and Ranaudo as my backup plan(s). Tyrell Jenkins is my super ultra sleeper pick. I know, he is a first round arm, so it's not that much of sleeper http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif. I've been hearing the Stetson Allie buzz too. I find it incredibly hard to believe anyone can hit low 90's with a slider. So Colby, should Allie be a SP or a hitter at the next level? Does he have a track record for success?
  9. Well, that made me feel great......not. Prove him wrong T-Rats! Especially Cutter. I don't really care what Arnett does this year numbers-wise. Stay healthy, show consistent velocity, and work hard. That's all I ask. He seems to be doing that. No one will jump on the Gennett bandwagon. There were many who were very late to the Pedroia bandwagon as well.
  10. Ok, let's take a closer look, shall we? As I expected, Morrow's time as a reliever makes his ERA look respectable. Let's take a look at what he has done as a starter. 23 career starts, 120.1 IP (5.23 IP/Start), 110 hits, 125 K's, 76 BB's, 16 HR's allowed, 5.01 ERA, .756 OPS against, tOPS+ 111, 1.54 WHIP. All that with a .303 BAbip. How about 2010 thus far? 8 Starts, 41.0 IP (5.125 IP/Start), 42 Hits, 54 K's, 27 BB's, 4 HR's allowed, 6.15 ERA, .787 OPS against, tOPS+ 100, sOPS+ 116, 1.68 WHIP. Now, he has been a bit unlucky with a .388 BAbip. How exactly are these numbers 'way to optimistic' for Jeffress? And if I remember correctly, Jeffress wasn't getting AA hitters out because he was working primarily on his off speed stuff that year. He is a true one pitch guy right now, just like Morrow (they both flash plus off speed stuff at times). He walks a ton of guys, just like Morrow. He strikes out a ton of guys, just like Morrow. Idk, do you have a better comparison?
  11. Way to optimistic at this point. I wish him all the success in the world, but I'd be happy if he turned into a Major League pitcher a la Morrow at this point. At worst he's out of baseball. Morrow is an established Major League pitcher. Not sure how Morrow is established. He is a 1 pitch guy with zero control. Jeffress could reasonably match what Morrow has done throughout his brief career. To me, they are the same guy. The only difference is the philosophies of the organizations they came up with. Worst case for any player is out of baseball. Jeffress' floor, if and when he makes it to the majors, is Brandon Morrow. Is that better?
  12. Hopefully that means Gennett is the SS for good now.
  13. Very pumped! Whatever happened to Freddy Adu? Has he had any success in the euro leagues?
  14. Very pumped! Whatever happened to Freddy Adu? Has he had any success in the euro leagues?
  15. Gulp, Endaround might just be right. The D has been pretty terrible.
  16. I am loving the TRats coverage. And Isom's comments are fantastic. Any chance he could breakdown the rest of the affiliates for us, haha???
  17. Haha, Paul. If JJ can still sling it, there is zero reason to give up on him. I am concerned about this forearm stiffness though. Isn't that typically a indication that TJ surgery is needed? I am really pulling for the guy though. His upside truly is Doc Gooden. At worst, he is Brandon Morrow. Can't wait to see his name in the box scores again.
  18. What is the max amount of money and years he can get from another team? Just curious.
  19. I bet this happens more often then we think. Don't hold me to that.
  20. Very true MH. Thanks to unheralded back end of the rotation!
  21. Who are you Maas Haas??? And how do you do it? Thank you for all you do here. Great pitching today. I think I would wet myself if Rogers threw a gem today. Haven't heard much about Kentrail Davis' D? No news, is good news regarding defense. Gindl and Green need to get it going. Haydel has been great, as mentioned yesterday. Also, after reading that Gennet article, I cannot believe how small he is. 5'7'' 165 or something? He must be impossible to pitch to.
  22. Agreed twobrewers, I would love to see the Crew play a scrimmage using their best milb'ers. Do it over the Allstar break at MP. Have Braun and Yo (with help from DM, KM, Seid, etc.) each draft a 20-25 man roster of our best and brightest, and make a game out of it. Shoot, you could even have a HR Derby too. I'd be there in a second. I'm trying to think how much I'd be willing to pay, and I think I would pay a lot, haha. For a market like Milwaukee, this would work great. Soften the blow of trading Prince by introducing the fans to Dennis, Cain, Lawrie, etc. Give them a chance to meet these guys and see what they can do.
  23. MJLiverock, Gamel put up that line as a rookie. He easily has .900+ OPS upside. And the comment about Lawrie not being 'star' quality is pretty conflicting with most reports we have on his bat.
  24. Wow, twobrewers, I could not disagree with your take more. Not every ML star is obvious to spot in the minors. If it was easy to determine who the stars are, then, well, I think you know what I mean. Regarding Lawrie, you have to remember his age. Regarding non-top 10 guys and replacement players, you're trying to tell me Scooter Gennett looks like a replacement level player? Kentrail Davis? Amaury Rivas? Your general negativity towards our guys (Arnett, Gamel, Salome, etc.) is getting tired. No one is saying we are Tampa Bay loaded, but depleted? That's a stretch.
