  1. I don't think anyone expected him to maintain that 1.000+ OPS or thought that was even remotely realistic. But he still has an OPS of .850 since joining the team, and given his age I don't think it's unrealistic to expect a .800 OPS from him. They've faced some tough pitching lately, and like most players he will feast on bad pitching and not do as well against good pitching.
  2. Lindor paid $43.3 million this year to hit .224. Baez right there with him at .190/.261/.381 Makes JBJ look like a steal.
  3. Wild bottom of the 9th in the Giants-Mets game. Belt drops a pop foul, the LF and CF collide and drop and easy fly. Mets have runners on 1st and 2nd with one out; Lindor pops up the first pitch and get roundly booed. Nimmo works a 8-9 pitch walk. Now Alonso up with the bases loaded against the LHP McGee.
  4. There aren't many of us calling for Norris to be DFA'd. Bickford was DFA'd because he was out of options and it was early in the season; they hoped to sneak him through. Norris is out of options as well.
  5. And at the plate it seems like he gets a bat on every pitch and has 10-pitch ABs. Would not be shocked if he leads the majors in pitches/AB.
  6. And now the Cubs are getting rolled, 12-4. That's a shame. Make it 14-4. In the bottom of the 3rd.

  8. https://www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2021/08/11/christian-yelichs-huge-extension-hasnt-even-kicked-in-yet-and-he-is-struggling/ I get Yelich is struggling but do we really need so many posts about it in an igt when the team is up 10? There is already a thread for it on the main page. Maybe I am in the minority but the Yelich stinks posts are feeling redundant at this point My comment was much more directed at the "we need to upgrade backup C" contingent.
  9. Levering says he's only thrown 3 changeups all inning. Gameday agrees. Jeff and Lane are on the same page as you, wondering why so few... With the wind gusting as hard as it is, it might be difficult for him to command it.
  10. Hopefully they can pull a few Reggie Gilbert's and Caleb Schlauderaff's and make some trades for some 6th/7th round picks.
  11. He'll will probably be better than some of what we've trotted out the last few days but he's got no place on the team when people are healthy. I don't get the hype either. He's thrown like 20 innings total over the last 2 years, we really have no idea what he is. How is that any different than Cousins? Why does Cousins deserve a spot but Topa doesn't?
  12. 97.8mph average 2-seam fastball in 2020.
  13. Rodriguez held the Reds in check in the top of the 10th. Braves just need one with Freeman, Riley, Swanson up and Adrianza on 2B.
  14. Do we know it's a significant injury? With the lead and Burnes on the mound it could have been precautionary. All they said was "discomfort".
  15. Did the others get them all swinging? All 10 for Burnes were swinging. He may have the record for most consecutive swinging. Both Nola and Seaver had a mixture of swinging and looking. Burnes holds the record for consecutive strikeouts swinging.
