  1. Yeah football is a little outta hand but that's partly because there's already so many commercial breaks and a limited amount of action to begin with (was reading something and there's only like 10 actual minutes of pure action in a 3 hr football game, the rest is huddling, challenges, commercials etc.) I think something like the play tonight is just a no brainer to be reviewed because it literally decides if the game is over or not.
  2. Yup. That's the one I was thinking of. Of course he'd be hitting .196 on May 9th.
  3. Yup it mattered so much. But youre right the entire review would have only paused the game for 20-30 seconds are you seriously arguing they shouldn't review plays like that?
  4. I think you are mixing up "clutch" with his general struggling at the present time. It's not that he isn't coming up short in late game situations only. No but someone posted his career stats in the clutch and they were pretty bad. Something like a 715 OPS, 215 BA. Can anyone remember a big walkoff hit Weeks has ever had? I vaguely remember something against Isringhausen years back.
  5. I think cherry picking stats after a major, career altering injury is a lot less arbitrary than a random day in July 2012 when he started to actually hit again. Weeks was a very good player from 2007-2011. I just think with all the injuries he's had there's a pretty decent chance that player isn't coming back.
  6. I have no interest in cherry picking stats from such and such date. As a whole, he's been a bad hitter with terrible defense since the injury. That's all I really care about. I would love to see him bounce back to his career norms and help the team/build his trade value. But we're well over 700 PA's where his ops is in the low 700s.
  7. No doubt Luc should be moved to 4, but I think Weeks is actually a really nice number 2 hitter if he could just perform to his career numbers. The problem is, he might not be that kind of hitter anymore. He's been about a 700 ops guy since his injury, and it's not like we're just talking about 200 plate appearances anymore.
  8. Results aside, I'm gonna go on record and say I actually like the way Roenicke has handled the pen today.
  9. Gahhhh, Aoki has perfect bat control. There's little doubt he could of lofted a ball to one of the corner OF's.
  10. 0 for his last 19 with 10 k's. Not to worry though, he finished last year strong!
  11. Crap. Yeaaaaa, if you could finally do something here Weeks, that'd be great.
  12. Jesus, this Miller guy is very impressive, but he's throwing a lot of hittable fastballs. Embarrassing they've only mustered 1 hit. Brian Anderson is a good pbp guy, but he still has no idea how to judge a flyball.
  13. He made a nice recovery but he still had a bad year overall. Especially factoring in he's not making peanuts anymore. Weeks doesn't exactly get unwarranted criticism. In one week of play, he has tried stretching a ROUTINE single into a double and was thrown out by 10 feet, swung at a 3-0 pitch when the team was down by 2 late, and kept the bat on his shoulder for an entire ab when down by 1 with a runner on 3rd, 1 out and everyone in the park knew a pitcher was due up next. Every single one of them more boneheaded then the last. Add that to the fact that his D seems to be regressing and he's 0 for 9 with 4 k's with risp and I think it's easy to see why people aren't exactly thrilled with his production so far. The funny thing is he isn't even in the top 10 or 20 of problems this team faces this year. So I'm not gonna get too worked up about it. I'm more ticked off about the bullpen situation, the injury situation, the 1b situation, etc.
  14. Wow. I'm speechless. It was practically in the dirt. I just made the mistake of clicking on ESPN's scoreboard and a video blog came up with Buster Olney. Not only does it not show the play; instead relying on Olney describing it, it leads off with him saying "give homeplate Marty Foster credit for admitting he made a mistake..." Yup. That's the first thing I'm gonna do. Give the idiot who made the call credit. Moron.
  15. I'm not too worried about Weeks yet. If he can come back from last year he can come back from anything imo. Unfortunately he has these nasty slumps every year where you would swear that the guy batting isn't even a pro baseball player (kinda like how Jenkins was). The question is how long does it last? 50% of the season like last year? Or just a series or two? But vegasbrewcrew does bring up a good point. Weeks is terrible in clutch situations. He has no business batting 4th. How many runners has he left on base the last few games since moving down...20? 30? I'm pretty sure the guy still has one RBI on the year. That's unacceptable.
  16. Yeah the only questionable strike call was either the 1st or 2nd. Can't remember which. The called 3rd strike wasn't even debatable. Wasn't even on the corner.
  17. Haven't visited Rambling Al's site in months, so I figured I'd log on to it to see what that brilliant mind thought of the game. Did not disappoint. http://gifrific.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Jerry-Seinfeld-No-Thanks-and-Leave.gif
  18. Can Axford be sent down? He has no business being on a major league roster right now. I do not like Rickie Weeks. I'll just leave it at that.
  19. Dude, he's not a bad defender. He's a lot closer to being a stud defender than a terrible one. Have you even watched him since the trade? I think the Magic could easily trade him for a pick in the 4-7 range if they so choose this offseason.
