  1. That's being completely results oriented. Weeks had a very poor at bat there. If it weren't for Marcum's fluke baserunning we absolutely would have been blaming him. Everyone's getting pitches to crush. The first two strikes to Weeks split the plate in half.
  2. http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/index.php/hitter-babip-laggards/ Decent article on fangraphs. From the looks of it, Weeks is about the only guy not actually getting unlucky. Lowest LD% and 2nd highest IFFB%, behind the great Brendan Ryan.
  3. Yeah, he's been much, much worse than I've ever seen Hall or McG look when those guys stunk for entire seasons. He just cannot hit anything. Inside the zone or outside the zone. Hitters count or pitchers count.
  4. Izturis not bringing the fundamentals tonight. Isn't that usually the justification for a crappy player being on the roster?
  5. Yeah that was a nice pick by rickie. He would have probably booted that a few years ago.
  6. wOBA first 4 years... 2005: .328 2006: .344 2007: .365 2008: .334 This year: .275 It took a BABIP of .350 his second year to produce just a meh .344. Walked at a abnormally high rate in Aug and Sep of 07 against a bunch of callups when rosters expanded in Sep. I sure hope we don't have that kinda production for 4 yr 40 mil.
  7. Real glad this is the year I decide to buy a season ticket package!
  8. Weeks' struggles continue. Same exact ab's night after night. He works himself into a nice count against Marmol in the 7th, a guy he's had no success against whatsoever. 3-1. Takes a fastball right down the middle for strike 2. Eventually k's looking. (On a ball). He's clearly going up there to walk. At what point do we question what effect Svuem had on Weeks? He was a mediocre at best hitter before Svuem took over and now after, he's been straight up awful.
  9. Yep. But his take on 3-1 was even worse. Right down the middle on a hitters count. He is just flat out refusing to even swing. 0 for his last 15 now.
  10. The main reason his BABIP is .219 is because he's popped up 23% of the time and he's not hitting line drives/flyners. Also, his infield hit rate has also been cut in half (it's down from his avg of 10% to 5%). He's been out by a half a step quite a few times, and I think he beats out a lot of those in years past. He looks noticeably slower to me after the ankle injury, so that's something he's probably just gonna have to deal with going forward. I don't think he's gotten unlucky at all.
  11. Really disagree here. I hate him in a run producing spot because he strikes out wayyy too much, he's a poor situational hitter, and imo he's a major liability in clutch situations. A-ram for the most part has sucked, but I shudder to think if Melvin would have penciled Weeks in the cleanup spot like so many fans had done in threads around here. Right now, he belongs in the bottom of the order until he starts hitting again. When he's going good, he belongs #1 or #2. About a week ago I wasn't too worried and thought we'd see a nice rebound because he was facing some weak starting pitching and guys he's had some past success against. But he looks worse with each bat. I wasn't able to watch the last few games so I don't know how long this has been going on, but I was just appalled with his lack of balance tonight. Honest to god, I don't think I've ever seen a guy with such strong, quick hands hit the ball so poorly. He rarely hits the ball hard, which is just absurd given the bat speed he generates. He missed a half dozen mistake pitches tonight that any competent mlb player hits hard somewhere. Roenicke needs to wake the hell up and sit him for a game and then move him down in the order before this really derails the season. IIRC, he's started every game this season. Unbelievable.
  12. He's basically having the same type of season he had in 2008, and that's not a good thing. He's going up there looking to walk. He needs to go back to the mindset Svuem got him into the last few years of ambushing the first fastball he sees, because he can in no way hit a slider or any other decent off speed offering with authority. He's making big money and needs to start producing. Tonight. If he can't get going against Jeff Suppan, he absolutely needs to sit a couple days and the Brewers need to get Green up here to start spelling him. Do I expect him to bat under .200 the whole season? No, probably not. But he's absolutely earned his line so far. He's had a few line drives hit right at somebody, but it's nothing like A-Ram who's getting robbed once a night. He also has lost a lot of speed with the ankle injury so he's not picking up his infield hits. He hit a slow dribbler to second on Sunday against Garcia and I was shocked he couldn't beat it out. He looked like he was running in quick sand. Consider me somewhat worried about Rickie. It's hard to believe, but he's gonna be 30 this year. Consider that along with all the different injuries he's had, this could very well be the beginning of the end.
  13. If we would've drafted Williams over Bogut we probably would've started a complete rebuild by now. Just sayin. Bogut is a good player who can help a team but he's more of a complementary piece and not a centerpiece. He's been just good enough to keep us from being lolbad the last few years. Instead we're mediocre every year which is much worse. If Skiles wakes up and makes the C/PF rotation LRMAM-Ersan-Sanders-Leuer and more importantly benches Gooden while Bogut is out they shouldn't miss a beat. I think Bogut's days of being an elite C are gone. He looks absolutely terrible this year. His offense is so bad he's basically just a one-way player now. If he's on the team the start of the next year I'm gonna lose it.
  14. Tobias looked really bad in the Dallas game, but in the others I have been very impressed with him. He's the youngest player in the league and he just came off a 3 week layoff from dehydration of all things. Rarely does he look overmatched. All that together bodes very well for the future. Outside of Jennings showing some nice improvement and Leuer and Tobias looking like players though, this season is the same song and dance as every other Hammond built team. No backup big to one of the most unreliable athletes in pro sports? Check. Low efficiency offense? Of course. Recycle the overpaid, over-the-hill wing you acquired last season for a new one? You bet. Hammond absolutely needs to go. Bring in Kevin Pritchard and start an actual rebuild. Side note: The Horford for Bogut trade proposal on realGM is genius. That would be a pretty equal compromise for Kohl, who desperately wants to contend every year and rarely wants to tank. We'd be set for next year.
  15. The huge problem with the deal was that the Lakers were getting the best player in the deal and saving 40 mil in luxury taxes. And then you found out they were getting Okafor on top of that to offset some of the damage in getting rid of two bigs. I agree that NO actually got an impressive haul. I thought Houston definitely was taking the worst of it but supposedly they might have had enough money left over to sign Nene too, so I dunno. The thing that bugs me now is what the hell is NOH gonna do? Are they forced to just let Paul expire at the end of the year because Paul will only allow trades to the market he wants to go to and those will basically get vetoed by the league? This is why the lockout was pointless. The owners had all the leverage in the world and we're still facing the same problems. Needed to get a franchise tag and hard. The owners failed miserably. Kudos to Kohl for actually being one of the hardliners.
  16. Yeah, I watched a ton of games last year. Backup pg's are like backup catchers for the most part. They usually suck. Dooling wasn't bad at all though. He can defend, hit the 3 ball at a decent clip, and he's a good locker room guy. There's no way we should have been the one giving up the pick to take him off our hands. He's not a bad contract at all. And when your a small market team you really don't wanna be giving up draft picks. That's the only way we have a chance at landing elite talent. I know, it's just a second rounder. But it's gonna suck when he probably has to give up our first rounder to get rid of Gooden. I swear to god Hammond's entire tenure has been him making mistakes and then "fixing" them. He's the worst.
  17. Delfino is a much better defender, but yeah I think their offensive games are pretty similar. Pretty meh signing. Typical Bucks. So Hammond gave up a 2nd round pick to get the Celtics to take Dooling off our hands? He's an idiot, to put it kindly. Easily one of the worst gm's in pro sports. Dooling is not a bad backup pg at all. One of the teams that has to spend money would have surely took him. IIRC he got Denver to take Malik Allen off our hands after inexplicably giving him a 2 yr deal.
  18. Damn. Anton Chigurh called, he wants his haircut back.
  19. From Community (season 2 I believe): "Well Shirley, since you have clearly failed to grasp the central insipid metaphor of those Twilight books you devour, let me explain it to you! Men are monsters who crave young flesh!" - Jeff Winger
  20. The cold opening was atrocious. Like Bigger Bang Theory bad. Erin is the worst character in the history of the universe. Please just have her get killed by the Scranton Strangler or something. Kevin sucks too, but at least he's funny once in a great while. I thought it sucked overall, and I've kinda liked this season in general. So sick of the writers trying to come up with stupid little problems between Jim and Pam because Pam is pregnant and her hormones are all over the place. Cripes. Seems like they've done that every episode. If I don't like the next episode it's coming off the DVR.
  21. Oshkosh. I do buy most of our cars out of the Milwaukee area though.
