  1. Talk about having everything go right for you. Go look at the Cubs lineup and all of their hitting stats. I've been without cable and interent for the last two weeks so I had no idea that they were 24-16. Yikes! Ryan Dempster has a WHIP under 1. I agree with your assessment Glennron. Although I would argue no one is hitting above projections except Kendall. Hall and Weeks have stunk. So has Hardy; his avg. is inflated by a large amount of dribblers finding holes. Cameron has been worse than Kapler given about the same amount of playing time. The only bright spots imo, are the Braun signing, Sheets rebounding from a somewhat off year last year, and Mitch Stetter becoming a good bullpen arm.
  2. Didn't LaRussa just kind of experiment with it? I think the Brewers were the first to commit to it, and then he followed suit.
  3. It did say in the article that he'll be batting 9th. Looks like the Brewers started a trend.
  4. What's a realistic offer he would get? I have a feeling he's not a Brewer come July 31st. His career is at a crossroads right now and I can envision him packaged with Gamel or LaPorta for a #2/3 starter. I don't think it's in either sides best interest to do an extension right now. Of course, great news on Braun. I'd wait a til the beginning of next season for Gallardo and start talking with Corey now.
  5. Pie is getting a raw deal again in Chicago. I'd say he's done there, and his trade value has gotta be rock bottom right now. The Cubs can spend money with the best of them, but they really have trouble developing players.
  6. Nope. The offense will turn it around but the loss of Gallardo is too much to overcome imo.
  7. Damn. If Dillon hits that a little further he's got a double. Let's go Torres.
  8. Thank you Duncan/Cardinals coaching staff.
  9. Haha. Torres is up. I'd make him the closer so we can limit his innings a bit. This Parisi guy has got pretty good stuff.
  10. It's nice to see JJ hit a ball hard today. Good sign.
  11. Lidge was my off-season target for closer as well. He looked really good late in the year, and it was pretty obvious he got his confidence back. We could have but together an offer just like the Phillies did. Also, Troy Percival would be looking good as the Brewer closer right now: 13:1 K/BB. 0.53 WHIP. 8 saves. Ouch.
  12. I know his line drive rate is down, but he hasn't had one bloop hit all year. He's certainly not hitting good by any means, but he should be in the .240-.250 range. I probably sound like a broken record as I've said this a lot on here, but he's been very unlucky this year.
  13. Remember last year when we were told that Hardy has a slump free swing. The splits that Ender showed reveal that he's wildly inconsistent.
  14. Even with Bush's horrible start to the year, if I'm forced to predict who's gonna give me a better start tomorrow, him or Weaver, I'm going with Bush every time.
  15. I wanna be mad about how dumb he sounds but that is too funny. I can imagine the exchange between Yost and the reporters and it makes me laugh for some reason.
  16. This is about the best week to have your cable and internet down. I havent had to suffer thru any of these games. On another note, I guess the way to get out of an offensive funk is to bench 2 of your 3 best hitters. Really Ned?
  17. I believe he's starting caliber, but just average. I don't think he excels at any one part of the game. I really have no reason to believe he'll ever match his homerun total of last year again. Whatn really scares me is he just flat out isn't get the barrel on the ball. He's had so many "texas leaguers" up the middle this year. IMO it could be a lot uglier stats wise for him. I'm not sure I'm ready to trade him yet. So many on here are raving about Escobar, but man are his offense numbers ugly. Out of all the struggling players, he's the most I'm unsure about.
  18. It's an interesting thought. Though stuff like this never happens, it's still fun to play around with. If Melvin was offered that trade, I'm not really sure if he'd laugh it off or accept it in a second. I'm sure that the Blue Jays would much rather have CV or Parra though. Halladay is such a horse. He'd be an awesome addition to any team.
  19. I know it's A LOT easier said than done, but it's just so frustrating to see probably the best two fastball hitters on the team (Hardy and Weeks) take the first pitch fastball right down the middle with such regularity. When they work the count in their favor, say 2-0, the bat is quite often glued to their shoulder as the fastball is taken for a strike.
  20. Interesting stuff Brawndo. I just find it funny that Hardy has publicly came out and said he doesn't like hitting in the 7 hole, but last year he publicly announced he preferred hitting in the 8 hole. You'd hope he understands that it's essentially the same exact thing. Up until my cable went out on Friday (Screw you Time Warner Milwaukee) I have been charting first pitch strikes/balls, swinging/taking along with the results of the at-bat. Hardy is seeing plenty of pitches to hit, a majority being fastballs early in the count. I can count the number of hard hit balls he's had this year on one hand, and it has nothing to do with not seeing good pitches to hit.
  21. Didn't they say it would probably add about 20 - 25 runs by the end of the year? And we are what, 20% into the season? It seems like it's pretty pointless to argue whether or not it's "working" when you're probably gonna have to reserve that judgement for a whole season sample size.
  22. I remember seeing that. I'd be for that as well, though Fielder makes a lot more sense 2nd if Hart or Weeks is leading off, as he's a lot more patient; allowing either to steal.
  23. Looks like it pretty much doesn't make a difference. Weeks is watching a lot of fastballs go by, so it's not like it really matters. A majority of his extra base hits have come off of off-speed pitches this year. If they switched things up, I'd like to see: Corey Hart Prince Fielder Rickie Weeks Ryan Braun Mike Cameron Bill Hall JJ Hardy Pitcher Jason Kendall Yost would never do this though. He would never put his two best hitters anywhere other than the 3 and 4 hole.
