  1. On the MLBTradeRumors website, it mentions the Mets might be interested in Turnbow. They are also down on Aaron Heilman. The fans are letting him have it, and there is talk of sending him down. I've liked this guy for years now and I'd love to see DM get him in the fold. I'm sure they wouldn't do Turnbow for Heilman straight up, but maybe if we added in TGJ they'd bite?
  2. It would be awesome to have a full stadium rooting against them for one of their home games.
  3. Hopefully Arizona runs away with that division so Derek Lowe could maybe be put on the block, like someone proposed in the other thread. He's a FA at the end of the year, and is a guy we could maybe keep around.
  4. I'm all for taking a risk on a close play. But I have never saw the ball beat the runner by that much at home with regards to both plays at the plate. Sveum handed the Cubs 2 outs yesterday. When BA said Weeks was coming home I thought he turned around because he wasn't even on the screen yet when Soto was just waiting there.
  5. Just got the news after driving from Milwaukee to Oshkosh. Looks like everything I feel has already been said. Just terrible.
  6. Yeah I remember Bill Simmons hating on Sveum that '04 season for the Red Sox. Levya was a really good 3rd base coach. You never heard his name from the announcers, which is about the best compliment a 3rd base coach can have.
  7. I just went through the schedule and noticed that we have faced the team's ace in every series. You have to count the Giants series since Zito pitched. That definitely should even out somewhat over the course of the season.
  8. Like others have said, the strike zone is bad, but at the very least consistent. Still it makes it facing Zambrano.
  9. That dude had such a punchable face. God I hated him and he was only screen for about 5 seconds.
  10. I hate how the Brewers pitchers always do Zambrano a favor by throwing him curveballs. He had a couple of hits off of Sheets last year on curves and he just goes the other way.
  11. Let's hope Zambrano isn't as sharp as he was opening day.
  12. They could certainly call up Joe Dillon or Branyan instead. It would be nice to have another bat on the bench.
  13. You really can't get mad when you lose that bad. But what are the odds Turnbow is gone tonight? I'd have to say pretty strong. Is Joe D on his way back up right now?
  14. Just thought I'd pass this along, Karl Malone's son was drafted this past weekend by the Bills. But that's not the story, allegedly Malone impregenated the then 12 year old girl while he was a sophomore at Louisiana Tech. With this and the recent Clemens news, what in the world is going on? Why weren't these guys prosecuted? I've never really like Malone for no apparent reason, but this article now gives me reason. Link: http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/columns/story/334471.html
  15. The two pitches that I've noticed Weeks having problems with so far are the breaking pitch down and away. Braun has the same problems as well. When they're going well they're taking this pitch a lot. The other, which surprises me, is the fastball in. He's struck out looking quite a few times this year on that pitch.

  17. I didn't see the FSN gun all night. MLB Gameday had Sheets consistently at 91 out of the gate, and a few 92 and 93 heaters scattered in. I stopped looking at Gameday in the 3rd though. So definitely not as good as the Giants CG velocity, but not all that bad.
  18. It was an odd start from Sheets. His velocity was fine, and his curveball was good. But just no control whatsoever. I'm just shocked he didn't come out early last night. That quote from tosabrewfan doesn't sound all that optimistic.
  19. Well there's the statistical evidence (like we needed any) that Braun is swinging a ton. He sees the 2nd fewest strikes on the team but it hasn't halted his propensity to swing. Hopefully he'll improve on that as the season rolls on. With Weeks only seeing 51.3 % of pitches in the zone, yes it wouldn't hurt to swing at the first pitch fastball. Especially when he has troubles poking a pitch off the plate into right for a hit like Corey or Ryan do. He swung at the first pitch fb last night with the bases loaded and it resulted in a centered lineout right at Theriot unfortunately. Prince took advantage of his strikes last night in his first two at-bats. He knows he's not seeing a lot of pitches to hit, so in run-producing positions he jumped on the first hittable pitch he saw. Last night, I started my month long documenting of Brewer hitters taking the first pitch. Hopefully I'll be able to tell if the approach changes somewhat this month, and document the results from that.

  21. I'd expect Counsell to get a start against Zambrano tomorrow, probably for either JJ or Rickie.
  22. It is frustrating, no doubt. But like Stevo said, it should even out. His career BABIP is .303, so it should revert somewhere around that. Counsell is a very fine option off the bench, but he's not gonna out hit any of our regulars over the course of the season. I mean look at Bill Hall last week compared to this week. Everyone considers him to not be struggling anymore because of a few sawed-off singles. Weeks has exactly 100 at-bats, and could easily have 10 more hits if it weren't for bad luck. He'd then be batting .290 and everyone would be ecstatic.
  23. But he also plays CF and figures to improve with age. He was rushed through the minors for some reason. His defense is good, and his arm is phenomenal. He's a pretty valuable player/trading chip. Why a guy like Ellsbury is rated so much higher is beyond me.
  24. Wow does Mota look identical to Juvenile.
  25. Yes that is a good point. Roberts is gonna do two things better than weeks, defend and make contact. I still don't do this trade though. Weeks hasn't looked bad at the plate this year. He's seeing the ball pretty damn good but just doesn't have much to show for it. Yost said it best in the article on the Brewer website; he's hit into bad luck this year. He has something like a .213 BABIP. The average will rise this month.
