  1. Kaplan covered a ton of ground on that. Very nice.
  2. If Johnny Estrada is catching for the Mets, sure run on that. But Schneider, one of the best, is throwing Braun out a majority of the time.
  3. I'm pretty sure that this fill in camera guy is fascinated by the way Weeks waggles his bat. He always focuses on it.
  4. Was that a change-up to finish him off? I'd take him out though. He really gutted this one out. He didn't have the same great stuff he did the first two starts but he still pitched a hell of a game.
  5. I wouldn't be complaining if he was called safe. Results aside, that still doesn't make it a smart decision.
  6. Cmon Sheets. Quick inning so you can go 7.
  7. We've been getting screwed by these calls so much I've pretty much come to the conclusion that they make the call on whether or not the throw beats the runner.
  8. Yep. First career HR was off of Santana. He pwns him; 4- 5 on his career haha.
  9. According to Gameday, that ball 4 pitch to Castillo was more of a strike than the called strike 3 to Weeks
  10. Actually his 84 mph fastball and 62 mph curve make me believe something isn't right. I felt like I was watching Livan Hernandez pitch on Wednesday. As for the self-labeled interent expert, I'm not afraid at looking at things a different way. Why should I believe the scouts who said that Mark Prior had the perfect pitching mechanics? I mean the guy only had the most damaged arm Dr. Andrews had ever seen. The same exact thing you just said about this "different scout" were the same things people said about the Sabremetric guys up until a few years ago. Scouts that are going against conventional pitching wisdom are gonna be looked at as outsiders until they are proven right over and over again. Because someone hasn't played since grade school means absolutely nothing.
  11. Busting him inside because he couldn't turn on the ball was a very good reason he was struggling with OBP when he was injured. With a wrist injury your BA is gonna go down. I'll give you his approach was pretty screwed up in June and July last year. A healthy wrist wouldn't have made a huge difference. No doubt the Brewers botched the situation last year. He should have never been on the team opening day. Starting on the DL and then rehabbing in the minors would have been much more beneficial to him and the team. In actuality, they have made just about every wrong decision with Rickie's career. Rushed him to the majors, had him play thru a thumb injury his rookie year, and pushed him too hard last year.
  12. There is a very good chance Bush is gonna be heading to the DL. Something isn't right. He's got a mini inverted W that Prior and Wood had: http://www.chrisoleary.com/projects/Baseball/Pitching/RethinkingPitching/Essays/DeathToTheInvertedW.html http://www.rightfieldbleachers.com/uploaded_images/DaveBush-798250.jpghttp://www.chrisoleary.com/projects/Baseball/Pitching/Images/Examples/Example_InvertedW_MarkPrior_002.jpg
  13. Weeks was rushed up. Crabbe wasn't. The minor league is learning tool as much as a competitive league. He was learning how to become a good base stealer. When he got to the organization he was fast. That's it. There is no way that Crabbe is a better base stealer than Weeks.
  14. I'd be down with that lineup. I would switch Weeks and Cameron though. I'd like to see what he could do with Braun and Fielder behind him. Edit: sorry casey, feel free to move.
  15. Weeks, while dissapointing to the casual fan, is far from a bust. A bust is out of the league during his mid to upper twenties (prime years). Over those 1200 at-bats, Weeks has shown that he can get on base when he's healthy. He can play 10 more years if he wants to because of that. When a guy can get on base and steal a base at the best rate in the league (He's the best base stealer in the league imo), he should be plently valuable at a weak offensive position. The funny thing is we are not even having this conversation if the 3 balls that he destroyed in Cincy weren't outs. A month from now two of those are easy homeruns and the other was robbed by Phillips because he was shaded up the middle for a steal. Would have been an easy double/triple otherwise. If those hits had fell in his OPS is the highest on the team and someone is making a thread asking why the whole team can't hit besides Rickie. I've seen every Weeks at-bat since he came up in 05, (outside of yesterday, which I'll go thru on Monday once I'm back in Milwaukee.) I can say with full confidence that he's never gonna be a high average guy. He might have already hit his career high in 2006. When he came up he tended to hit the ball a lot harder than he does now, which is disheartening to say the least. I know the original poster says he swings at a lot of junk. I disagree. He only swings at junk when he's behind against good pitchers like Zambrano, Cueto, and Wagner. Every hitter in the league does that. He's easily got the best eye on the team and if he could center the ball like Braun and Fielder do he'd be a top 5 hitter in the league. I don't know if the wrist injury took away his ability to hit the ball hard consistently, or if he's just pulling off the ball. As for his defense, he goes thru streaks of really good D and then a horrid stretch. Its very odd.
  16. I have a Real Estate class but I'd gladly skip it for a game. I'm in. Thanks Pedro.
  17. To compare to baseball, this is very similar to the Dodgers hiring Paul Depodesta. Learned from one of the best GMs in the game and should be a good one. This is a really solid pickup. Now hopefully we can find a coach.
  18. Yeah no kidding. He had three very loud outs in the Cincy series that are almost always gonna be hits/extra base hits. It's kind of weird that he's making as much contact as he is.
  19. I think Charter is screwing something up with their regular cable package. My parents live in Oshkosh and have the same regular cable you mention Invader3K. We get all the local HD channels outside of FOX. It seems like at night, especially on the weekends, we get On Demand Movies, HBO, and Cinemax all in HD. It's nice to be the one actually taking advantage of that crappy company for a change, rather than the other way around
  20. Not to nitpick, but you also forgot Phillips. It seems like the guy has been around forever but he's only 26.
  21. Wise man once told me anything over $500 is negotiable. Like others have said Sears, American, and Van Vredees are the way to go. Pretty sure they all run on commission.
  22. Yeah, it's impossible to decipher anything from the small samples right now. From the look of Braun's line you'd think he's had a pretty solid start to the year. But it's pretty much the opposite. He has shown no patience whatsoever. Hell, a majority, if not all, of his hits in Chicago were of the bloop variety. You'd never know looking at the box scores that Hardy or Weeks have strung together more quality at bats. Yost said in an interview yesterday that we don't have a 'hot' hitter yet. For the most part, he's right. (Except for Kendall, who's hitting the ball as well as he ever will). But if you looked and saw the NL leaderboard for team OPS you'd see the Brewers 2nd in the league.
  23. I said it in the IGT but this team scares me just as much as the Cubs. Their team matches up against ours in a bad way for the Brewers. The 3 -7 spots in the lineup, mostly lefty, is pretty tough for the Crew. Pretty much the only part of the team that the Cubs have a clear cut edge over the Reds on is their bullpen, which can mostly be attributed to Carlos Marmol. IMO this is probably a 3 headed race as long as Dusty doesn't do something stupid like benching Dunn for clogging up the bases and starting Norris Hopper.
