  1. So we were going to win the World Series with Prince and zero pitching? We had Prince and Braun together for years but it wasnt until we got pitching that we had a chance. But in our market we CANNOT afford Prince and a guy like Greinke. I am not a proponent of completely gutting our team as some are, but Fielder and Braun without pitching wasnt going to win us anything. We down have the farm system to make another Greinke trade. Only to lose that player in FA in another year or two after acquiring him. I LOVED the Greinke trade, and if the Brewers consistently do things like that on a yearly basis, I could live with it. But I betcha they won't. That was supposed to say we DONT have the farm system. The Brewers cant do something like that on a yearly basis because they dont have the farm system and very few teams do. Yes they lost Greinke but they also replaced him with 3 prospects. We get that you dont like prospects.
  2. The minor league link reports are going to be fun for the next couple months. I am excited to see what the new guys can do!
  3. 07 - They tried to sign Fielder and he said no. What are they supposed to do when a guy wants to hit the open market? The same thing with Greinke. You do realize Melvin offered Prince a contract for a couple years right?

  5. If you are going to make a run at Greinke in the off-season you keep Hart until you see where Greinke goes. You can always trade Hart in the off-season
  6. You realize many players want to hit FA so they can get the largest contract possible. Prince was NEVER going to sign long-term here unless we offered him something larger than he even ended up getting - which would have been terrible for us.
  7. Segura will be better than Ransom or Izturis and cheaper than trying to sign a FA SS. So he will help. The two young arms give us a lot of talent in AA and AAA or in the majors next year. Next year we will have Nelson, Jungmann, Peralta Rogers, Thornburg, Burgos and Fiers and now the two arms from the Angels. That is a lot of young talent and we have guys like Bucci and Scarpetta coming off injuries Every single one of them unproven, and could be total busts. I guess so but you realize that sometimes minor league players do pan out right?
  8. Looks like Mark Rogers is not starting in Nashville as he was slated to. Wonder if he is taking Greinke's spot since Thornburg had arm fatigue I posted this hear because it kind of has to do with Greinke leaving
  9. Greinke gets traded and Rogers is skipped in his start. Will he get called up?
  10. I am really interested to see how our young pitching shakes out next year. Between AA to the majors we will have Fiers, Thornburg, Rogers, Peralta, Burgos, Nelson, Jungmann, Hellweg, Pena, Bucci, Scarpetta, and Bradley.

  12. I thought he was a done deal to the Rangers yesterday Someone is going to end up with Johnson and someone will end up with Greinke. If Johnson goes to the Rangers the Angels will almost be forced to get Greinke
  13. No then it gets its own transaction thread since it isnt a rumor anymore.
  14. I think Melvin just wants to see this thread hit 100 pages
  15. I actually do remember the 90's even though I would like to forget. We will have Yo, and I think there is a good chance Marcum is back for one year. If we have those two with Estrada, Fiers, Thornburg, Rogers, and Peralta I think there is a chance we have a solid rotation.
  16. If we are not going to compete for 4-5 years it is time to trade Braun then too, right? Why leave him around in his prime, getting paid like he does? I think people over-estimate what type of team it takes to be competitive. Look Oakland, Pittsburgh, SF (considering Lincecum is pretty much hurting them this year), Baltimore, the White Sox, etc and tell me we could be on that talent level really soon. Sure Pitt has some nice guys in the minors but they have a rotation that was scrapped together but has worked out.
  17. i think tampa bay has the model people kind of look at when talking about this. but for them it was much more of a "finally build" than "rebuild". But they were able to do that in part because they were so bad for so long. They had a top 8 pick in the draft for 10 straight years! 6 years were top 4 and 4 years were the number 1 pick. Are we ready to be that bad for that long to "rebuild" like Tampa did?
  18. The White Sox/Blue Jays rumored deal was really underwhelming. With the guys Melvin is reportedly asking for (Machado for example) makes me think he is asking for something big. I dont remember what the White Sox and Blue Jays offered but it wasnt good
  19. It is very GM's and Owner's MO to completely rebuild. What teams have really done this? The Astros are currently doing it and Oakland has kind of done it. Have we seen the complete rebuild work well? I am asking because I just dont know. If I were Braun there is no way I would want to waste my prime on a team that doesnt have any hope at all. The prospects for Gallardo would have to be really close to the majors not A ball guys
  20. If we trade Gallardo at what point does Braun start demanding a trade? I can see one of the best players in baseball wanting to be on the worst team in baseball for the next few years
  21. So far it is has been the Wily Peralta of last year. 4 IP 2 H, 0 ER, O BB, and 7 K's. In his last 32 innings pitched he has given up 5 ER, with 33 K's, 9 walks, and 32 hits.
  22. Really bad? His numbers are very similar to every other year. He had a terrible April and has been very, very good since then. His ERA is probably in the high 2's since April. If that is really bad your standards are pretty high. He is striking out a guy per inning still. His walks are high but everything else is good.
  23. Exactly. Who would we give them? Hart is one of the few guys with a lot of value but where does he fit in Texas?
  24. Andrus and a SP prospect! Sign me up but I wont believe until I hear more.
