  1. Well after the gift the Dodgers got against the Padres a few days back I am glad we are on the receiving of them getting the balanced out call
  2. Well I think the kid has it better of then maybe you describe (he got a year of school paid for and a ton of coaching to develop as a player) I agree that that athletes are at a disadvantage

  4. I dont like the move, but if kids worried about this type of stuff then recruits would not sign a lot of places. Tom Crean has a history of over-recruiting and then older players "just happen" to transfer. Buzz has had a couple guys who committed to Marquette only to not seem wanted anymore. Read about DJ Newbill. What is my point - kids still love playing for these guys. By all accounts guys love Crean, Buzz and Bo even if they do some things I dont agree with. I dont like the state of college athletics. I think everything favors the coaches and universities. But it is how it is. Up until this Bo had seemed to do most things with players the right way. This is a mistake but I dont think it hurts them long term.

  6. if that is the reason it is short-sighted since as a Sophomore he was penciled in to be a starter. Hmm, I figured he'd be behind Evans at the #3 -- was he slotted in at the #2 spot? Evans and Bruiser are seniors next year and Uthoff would have just been a red shirt freshman next year. So with those guys gone there was a lot of minutes for him at the forward spot opposite Dekker
  7. If recruits dont like what Bo is doing I am guessing they wont like how Tubby trashes his own players to the press - see Sampson and Hoff from the past two years. Or the fact that Tubby restricted Colton Iverson from transferring to any team Minny played the next year
  8. That is what is weird. Every school restricts in conference transfers. MU and UW restrict each other. Tulsa is restricting a kid to all but three schools or something. Last year Tubby Smith restricted a kid from any school they played the next year. This common. The ACC is wrong though

  10. I don't know what more there is to hear, appears to be a clear cut d-bag move. Ryan basically blocked him from transferring to any conference school or any other 'big' school that UW may play. Sounds like sour grapes to me, and this is going to be held against him in recruiting- just another reason for top recruits to avoid a Ryan-coached team. I have a real problem with this sort of thing. If Ryan practiced what he preached, he would still be at UWM (or Platteville). Sam Dekker was just named #15 in the country by Scout. Bronson Koenig is also number 50 or 70 one at rivals the other at Scout. He will be higher by the end of the summer as well because he was injured most of the year and reports are already good from AAU stuff They sure are fleeing Bo and Wisconsin
  11. if that is the reason it is short-sighted since as a Sophomore he was penciled in to be a starter. I am not a fan at all of Bo restricting the ACC. I totally understand the Big 10 and Marquette. Almost every school restricts their own conference and yearly rivals. Buzz restricted Maymon from the BE and Wisconsin. ISU seems like there are a few reasons. The ACC sounds like sour grapes However those who think this hurts recruiting are more than likely wrong. There are tons of coaches who do much worse (this is not meant to justify what Bo is doing), including pulling offers from kids who commit, pulling scholarships once kids get to college, etc. Kids still commit to these schools and they will to Wisconsin as well. Kids dont think of themselves as being the ones who are going to get "cut" or who will need to transfer.
  12. I pick Thornburg just because he has been dominant at a higher level. However, Nelson and Bradley have been great as well. When was the last time a guy starting out as hot as Bradley would be our third best start to a season? On a related note the stud pitcher we traded for Greinke - Odorizzi - is really struggling again in AA. He has three starts and has only pitched 10.2 innings. He has given up 8 runs. He started great but his last two games have been really rough. This is not a knock on Odorizzi (I would love to still have him) but just another reason why we should be really excited right now. Our top prospects have results to match their stuff right now. It is also a reason why I go with Thornburg because I think that jump for high A to AA is the hardest and he has been great
  13. Obviously it is a small sample size but it seems like each night we have a good to great pitching performance. Here is a fun question. Who has been the most impressive pitcher so far? Bradley and his inability to give up runs Nelson and his inability to give up fly balls Thornburg and his ability to miss bats Nice start for our pitchers. Peralta has been really solid but since his strike outs are down he probably does get the consideration of the top 3. Jungmann has been fine but he needs to get strike outs as well.
  14. I was super excited before Nelson exploded. Peralta, Thornburg, Jungmann and Bradley had me excited. Now add Nelson and it is crazy to think a lot of years any of those 5 could have been the best pitcher in our system. We also have some intriguing guys like Scarpetta, Rogers, Bucci, Lopez when he starts pitch, Golforth and Gagnon. Just give us a few bats!
  15. Thornburg doing his best to match Nelson. He is only through 3 IP, but no runs or walks and 5 k's is a solid start
  16. Nelson strikes out the side in the 7th. His numbers are just ridiculous tonight. 7 IP, 2 H, 0BB, 7 K. 11 ground outs, 3 fly outs
  17. Through 5 he has given up 1 hit and no runs. Only two k's but he has 10 ground outs and only 3 fly outs.
  18. I dont know before today he had 10 K's on 11 innings. That isnt too bad at all. Today he only had 3 in 6 IP, but he only walked one guy and got a lot of ground balls so it was a solid start in my mind
  19. I did not see this...wow. He also got caught later in the game stealing second. His average is nice right now and I am sure his power will come around. He had his first extra base hit of the season (home run) today.
  20. He would have been anyway. According to most people Dekker was going to be the number 3 forward behind Evans and Bruiser - although some thought he would end up getting more minutes than Bruiser. The Uthoff loss will only hurt a lot this year if one of those three get injured. It hurts much more two years from now
  21. The more you read quotes from Uthoff's AAU coach the less sense it all makes. Sounds like the kid really liked Wisconsin, the system, the coaches but thinks there is a better fit somewhere. Coaches and players were shocked by his decision. It came right after Spring Break so I am not sure if he hungout with friends back home and just missed being around them or what but it sure is strange. Hopefully can land Sheldon Jeter out of Penn this weekend. He is doing an in home visit. Jeter is ranked 150 on rivals top 150
  22. Interesting line so far from Bradley. 6 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 0 ER but only 2 K's Ends 6.2 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 0 ER, and 4 K's. He left with runners on but no one scored
