  1. Explosions in the Sky- "The Only Moment We Were Alone"
  2. I think Wisconsin's biggest deficit was 20, MU was already down 33. Pretty big difference. I'm just happy they're finally playing better the last few minutes.
  3. Well, Gardner has looked pretty good.
  4. They switched SO much on the perimeter on defense this game, it was just making me sick. It wasn't even just this game, they do it all the time. I can't think of how many times it's one of those, "Well, point guard on Nankivil, he's going to burn him and we'll have to hope Keaton gets one of his blocks pinned against the rim, otherwise it's an easy layup." As much as I love Bo, his stubbornness can really bug me at times. If you have a 5 on 4, or 2 on 1, or hell Taylor 1 on 1, take it to the damn rim! They decide to fast break about once every two games, it's sick.
  5. Ohmygod...
  6. TWO points in the paint. I'm willing to bet that's the fewest points in the paint in the history of the NCAA tournament.
  7. Very well? They're 1/16. Sure a few have been in and out, but you don't start 1 of 16 by playing very well.
  8. Nankivil is the softest 6'8" player ever. Loses every 50/50 ball he's involved with, doesn't box out well, doesn't even attempt to post up. So frustrating.
  9. Nothing like making predictions based on incorrect stereotypes. Or cause you only remember the Penn State game in the B10 tourney. I've heard a number of analysts talk about Wisconsin's "great" defense this season. Aside from the year they got smoked by Arizona in the first round, this is their worst defense under Bo. It's the same thing with Butler. It's being billed like it's two tough-nosed defensive teams and the first team to 50 will win.
  10. If Wisconsin wins tonight: "But they haven't beat a team that's seeded higher than them! Just like the last time they made the Elite 8!" If Wisconsin loses tonight: "They lose to a mid-major team AGAIN!"
  11. If you think Gonzaga can knock off St. John's (I think they will), they might be a good pick for your office pool. They'd then (most likely) get BYU in the second round, and they're obviously not playing nearly as well as they were a couple weeks ago.
  12. http://awfulannouncing.com/ Announcing schedule for the first two rounds. Wisconsin will have Kevin Harlan, Reggie Miller, Dan Bonner and Sam Ryan. Marquette will have Gus.
  13. Obviously they don't have the best SOS, but they also lead the country in scoring margin. Just cause they haven't played anyone of Wisconsin's "caliber" doesn't mean they can't beat them. If I had to bet I'd pick Wisconsin, but it's more like a 60/40 chance. Edit: Apparently Belmont fouls a ton cause they press a ton. It'll be interesting to see how UW handles the press, Taylor won't be able to rest much. Good news is UW should be able to get to the line a lot. Funnily enough their region has the weakest 2 and 3 seeds, and possible the weakest 1 seed, but the 12/13 teams are super tough.
  14. Guess I was wrong about Marquette. There's about 4 or 5 times seeded ahead of them that shouldn't be. I hate the Belmont matchup for Wisconsin.
  15. Marquette isn't really that close to being one of the last few teams in, they have nothing to worry about. Also, they split against UConn.
  16. UWM made the second round of the NCAA's Jeter's first year, eventually getting crushed by soon to be National Champion Florida.
  17. Missouri State now joins the bubble teams. Will be interesting to see if they sneak in with the bubble being weak. Their best non-conference win was against Saint Louis, and the Missouri Valley Conference was a pretty big joke this year. If literally every other bubble team loses in the first round of their conference tourney, I still don't see how Missouri State should make it. I'm assuming OSU set a national record today for 3 point percentage with at least 15 attempts? It's hard to believe a team has ever gone 15/15 or better. Obviously OSU would've lit up any team today, especially Diebler, but UW better start playing better defense if they want to avoid an early upset in the tournament.
  18. Taking my homerism out of it, I don't see how Jordan Taylor isn't the best PG in the country. Obviously leads in A/T ratio, but 39 points in 55(!!) possessions is unheard of. Just goes to show when he's not distributing he can take over a game completely with his scoring, just like against OSU. The numbers he's putting up on a team that's literally the second slowest team in the country tempo-wise is ridiculous. Of course Nolan Smith will probably get the All American nod cause people will be all "He averages 20-5-5!" or whatever it is. Then again Taylor's pretty much doing that on a much slower team. I want to believe this so bad. Every year I believe that UW will make it further than everyone else seems to think. If the consensus is knocked out in the second round, I think they'll get to the Sweet 16. If people pick them to the Sweet 16, I think they're making the Elite 8. I'm just so sick of them overachieving in the regular season and then underachieving in the postseason, that I'm going to try very hard to temper my expectations this year. It will probably be impossible cause I honestly believe this team might be better than their '07 team that won 30 some odd games. Then again they had Jason 'J-Cheezy' Chappel so that gives that team the slight edge. All kidding aside, matchups are obviously the key. Has Wisconsin been unlucky in their matchups all these years they've lost to lower-seeded teams? Or do they just not perform as well in the tourney? Probably more of the former. I just know that whatever 13/14/15 seeded team they draw, I'll be paranoid of a Cornell-like 3 point barrage.
  19. If Marquette gets to 11-7 in conference, I don't see any way they're not a single-digit seed. Sure their non-conference SOS is pretty poor, but they'd have 5 wins against the top 30 or so teams in the country. That would be more than a lot of teams who are ranked highly. Then again, seeding is usually pretty overrated in general, but when it comes to MU it really doesn't even matter. I wouldn't be surprised to see them knock off a top team to go to the Sweet 16, and I also wouldn't be surprised to see them lose their next 3 games and possibly head to the NIT.
  20. I went to a White Sox-Royals game in Chicago two years ago where the White Sox hit four consecutive home runs (Konerko-Thome-Uribe-Ramirez). Also saw a Braves-Cubs game at Wrigley in '06 where the Braves hit 8 home runs. Definitely the best baseball game I've been to that didn't involve the Brewers. The Cubs are something like 0-6 in games I've been to at Wrigley.
  21. I hadn't been to the Rave in about 4 years and remembered the sound as being pretty crappy most of the time. I went last Friday to see Band of Horses and actually thought the sound was pretty good. I'm not a gigantic fan of their most recent album (or second for that matter) but I enjoyed them a ton, a lot of energy and whatnot. I'm going to Lollapalooza the last day. I'm most excited about The National and Arcade Fire, but of course The National lead right into Arcade Fire and are on a different stage. I'll be lucky to see 1/3 of The National's set if I want any sort of decent view for AF.
  22. It very well may have been the theater where I saw it, but there were certain parts of the movie where the dialogue was drowned out by the music, a couple times at pretty key points. Did you have that problem too? I'm planning on seeing it again anyway, but hopefully another theater will have better sound. Otherwise, I also thought it was pretty great. It really didn't seem like a 140+ minute movie at all.
  23. The NBA should rescind the Coach of the Year award from Scott Brooks and hand it over to Skiles.
  24. "St. Mary's stuns Villanova for berth in Sweet 16" Headline on ESPN. If you have watched any basketball this year, how the hell is this "stunning"? Villanova plays four guards. Saint Mary's has a dominating 7 footer who is one of two D1 players to average a 20-10, and Nova has no one to guard him. Villanova hadn't played well in over a month. Saint Mary's had been. This should be stunning to no one.
  25. Good to see JBo show up in potentially his last game. Nankivil non-existent as well.
