  1. Josh Prince is now my favorite prospect from this draft after that interview.
  2. I dont think we need 2B help since McGehee has broken out and helped fill that hole somewhat along with Counsell. I would love to get Dan Haren from the DBacks but that could be just a pipe dream. I also dont want to see Davis back in a Brewers uniform.
  3. Yeah Im hoping to see Braddock, Anundsen and Wooten promoted soon.
  4. Why isnt there A/C or (Im assuming) no heat in Miller Park? If anyone has a reason why I would like to hear it. Just seems odd not having those two.
  5. This "I like how Badger was able to influence this whole thing by adding the word "imminent". Brian has his sources over at brewerfan.net, but I'm not so sure the "imminent" thing was part of the discussion until this thread was made. No doubt people who frequent this site and Brian's flooded Haudricourt and McCalvy's inboxes, but I suspect the fact that the word "imminent" was used was why both of them reacted so boldly in shooting down these rumors." From a thread over on sportsbubbler.com that has the title "Imminent trade?"
  6. What do you guys think it would take to get Haren here?
  7. You know Ive never understood why the UP is part of Michigan in the first place, seems to make more sense if it was a Wisconsin territory since it is fully connected to Wisconsin and not seperated by a lake like it is to Michigan. It just seems odd.
  8. 166th pick - D' Vontrey Richardson RF R/R FSU
  9. 136th pick - Steven Hall - RHP T L Hanna HS
  10. I also am really excited about the two pitchers we got. Also who can go wrong with the bats we got too. Man I LOVE mlb drafts.
  11. So are the Brewers going to use Heckathorn as a reliever or a starter?
  12. Happy to see Schafer with a couple hits and a triple tonight. Im hoping he continues to hit and becomes an option in CF next year. Though I maybe a little to hopeful. Anundsen needs to get that call up to AA, he deserves the shot.
  13. trwi Im just watching it and finding out who they are picking. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2009/draftlive_app.jsp
  14. Yeah mine hasnt gone past 42, I am suprised to see 3 college guys in our first 3 picks.
  15. So Im curious about what are peoples opinions on Davidson. He seems to be more of the pick the Brewers would take with good power and no set defensive placement.
  16. I dont know where to put this so Ill put it here. I was looking at the DSL and it got me thinking about International FAs. I have a couple questions to those who know. When does International FA start and are the Brewers going to be active in the big names this year, I know they usually arnt so Im just curious. Thanks for any information that you can give me.
  17. Well, I'm on-board with you on that one. I think Hardy is pretty overrated offensively, because of his streaky hitting as you said. He'll have some hot streaks, but other times he just seems to be a liability, especially out of the 2 hole. Defensively he is always solid, and that's also something Escobar provides. I don't believe that Escobar would be a better option offensively within the next few years, but I think that he could end up being a better hitter than Hardy in the future, just because of his consistency. He is also a threat on the basepaths, whereas Hardy is one of the slowest players on our team. If we can get a solid, young pitcher for Hardy either now, or in the offseason, I would be really tempted to do it. I do think that the odd man out who will be shopped is Hardy. I don't think he has any plans of attempting to switch his position, and there's no way he'll trade away Escobar. I also don't think he'll move Gamel from third, when he already moved Braun from that same position, it might make him look bad. Hardy will likely be gone before next season, and if Buchholz is on the table right now, I think Melvin has to consider it. I agree with everything you just said here PrinceEatMeat. Gamel hasnt showed anything for them to move him off of 3B yet. He had that one error but everything looks good so far imo, he doesnt need to be moved unless he becomes a huge liablitity (see Braun's rookie year). Listen Hardy is an above average SS that can hit home runs. I believe Escobar can develop into the hitter JJ is, he wont hit as many home runs but he will get more extra base hits and can be a good base stealer for us. People forget that Weeks and Braun had green lights to go if they thought they would get into second base, the rest like Hart, Cameron had to get permission to run mostly because everyone was just getting caught at a high rate. This seemed to just dissapear when Weeks went down, I dont think Macha hates running he just hates giving up outs, so I think that if Escobar comes up he will be given that green light to go if he thinks he will make it.
  18. Im curious, since I didnt really start seriously follow the Brewers around the 2005 season, was JJ Hardy regarded as a home run threat when being picked and coming up through the Minors? I know he has had some decent home run years in the minors but was he considered a player to hit 20 homeruns? Thanks for any insight that is given.
  19. Yeah but I'm talking about the Brewers and the way they have been pitching this year. This is like a completely different team with the good pitching but you can also credit that with the good - great defense the Brewers have had this year. Like I said its just an assumption and I could be wrong about it. Btw Padilla isn't going to be with Texas anymore. I think he has pitched his last pitch for them with the way he was presenting him self in the locker room and hitting players.
  20. Thinking about how good they have been I come back to Maddux not being here as the pitching coach. I personally didnt see how he helped any of the pitchers because most of his "projects" succeeded and then failed miserably. I dont know I could be wrong with my assumption but it just seems that the Brewers have gotten better pitching without Maddux.
  21. I was going to say get him to play some OF and we have ourselves a good Utility player on the cheap if he hits anywhere near the MLE's posted.
  22. Escobar in Huntsville at 22 - .328/.363/.434 8 hrs, 76 rbi, 34 sb, 31/82 BB/SO - 131 games Hardy in Huntsville at 20 - .279/.368/.428 12 hrs, 62 rbi, 6 sb, 58/54 BB/SO - 114 games I think thats the best you can do to try and get a glimsp of how they performed, JJ was up in Milwaukee by 22.
  23. I know this is a bit off topic but looking at the last couple pages with arguments on certain players sides I just sit in awe about how good the Brewers have done with getting young talent and replenishing it. The Brewers graduated Braun, Fielder, Hardy, Weeks, Gallardo, Parra, Hart, Villanueva. Thats quite a bit of prospects so you would assume that the Brewers might be a bit low on up and coming prospects. Well we now have Gamel, Escobar, Salome, Lucroy as some of the top prospects up in the higher minor leagues. Along with some good prospects like Cain, Green, Brantley, Heether, Irribarren and so forth. Its just awesome we have guys to replace the guys though 1B may be a hole soon. Anyways thats my rant. Also I wouldnt mind trading Hardy if we where getting a couple high end pitchers that are close to being ready. That would really help us in a big way imo.
  24. Wow Smith isnt on the 40 man roster, didnt even realize that. I figured that he would be the one to get the call up but if they do move Julio Swindle will probably be the guy.
