  1. I guess that is why Hairston is starting. i thought Ryan beat it
  2. Unfortunately, i think Green is all but a Met. My best guess is Melvin is thinking that if we don't call him up, that the Mets suddenly will not see him as an MLB player, and think about passing, but if we do call him up, and he tears the cover off the ball, that it all but guarantees that the Mets will take him as the PTBNL. Melvin probably fears the fans seeing Green as a second coming of Ryan Braun and then fears looking incredibly stupid for trading Green for a 2 month rental relief pitcher. Either way, there is zero reason for us not to have Green on the big league club. If he does well and helps us get to the playoffs and as a result gets taken by the Mets, so be it. The fans are already angry over Melvin's apparent incompetence with his handling of the SS/3B situation. If we're going to lose Green, might as well get some value on the field for him before he leaves in our "all-in" year
  3. Maybe Weeks injury has me digging deep for some optimism, but I am absolutely thrilled with Greinke's performance in his three starts since the All-Star Break His Counting Stats thus far: 1st Half 74.1 IP 77 H 45 ER 16 BB 99 K 5.45 ERA 1.25 WHIP 2nd Half 19.2 IP 13 H 2 ER 5 BB 24 K 0.91 ERA 0.91 WHIP With 57 games left, Zach should get 11 games (66 IP). If we say 2 runs per start (3.00 ERA), Zach has the potential to drop his ERA to 3.88 with a stellar 2.52 ERA in the second half
  4. If Melvin makes this trade, he deserves to be fired. Worst SS/3B in baseball, and we're looking for OF help? Why on earth would we do this?
  5. I think this is an outstanding post and is exactly why i'm so frustrated with Melvin. Doug's calling card has been that he could find "league average players" for cheap, but never could get the blue chips that would lead to a deep playoff run. This year we have 4-5 blue chips (Braun, Prince, Ax, Wolf, Greinke, Morgan), but the bottom half of our offense has been so pathetic that we haven't been able to capitalize. Replace Casey/Yuni with league average players and we're a 95 win team (over a full season)
  6. Yeah, i hope Melvin is putting up a smoke screen. If we stand pat this year, I want Melvin gone. We can't "go for it" and keep 2 of the worst players in MLB, maybe in brewers history in every day starting roles. Yuni + Casey is the worst SS-3B combo in baseball and it isn't close. There is a difference between not throwing your guys under the bus and realizing that your players (Yuni and Casey) are just awful
  7. I'm pretty sure Shields was actively shopped this off-season, (or am I confusing with Scott Kazmir), so the question is: Would our prospect haul sent to Kansas City have been enough to get James Shields? If so, did we make a mistake holding out for Greinke instead? I realize this is monday morning quarterbacking, given that Shields was coming off a poor 2010, but wow has he been on this year while Zack has struggled. I hope Zack's last couple starts are a sign that he's "ready to roll", but man would I love to have Shields right now
  8. I'd be interested in a 3/30, though i wouldn't trade Hart. I'd move Hart to LF, put Swisher in RF, and move Braun to 1B Weeks/Morgan/Swisher/Braun/Hart/Gamel(3B)/Jon-Luc/SS/P
  9. I think its more like that I'll marry Mila Kunis than Betancourt ever having an OBP above .300 again
  10. I would take Hardy on a 3/25 deal in a heartbeat. It really burns me that our biggest hole right now is the hole created by trading Hardy for garbage. Melvin has made some great moves, but this has to be considered his worst move as Brewers GM. I realize he was injured to start the year, but Hardy (through defense and his bat) would easily be a 5 win upgrade for us right now. Being 54-40, versus 49-45 would be enormous right now. I'm seriously thinking the Brewers need to be sellers right now
  11. that is awfully optimistic. after tonight, anything better than 1-10 seems like gravy. I'll take coming home with a record above .500 at this point. When the Twins were 20 games under with M&M on the DL, and the Brewers got to 9-10 games above .500, never thought i'd have see the Twins with a better record than the crew this season. Now, i can almost guarantee it. If Doug doesn't replace Yuni and Casey by July 31st... he shouldn't be our GM next year. This is pathetic
  12. How does Yuni have a spot on our roster while Taylor Green does not?
  13. Yuni's awful approach to start the 9th inning today is a perfect example of why we are money ahead if we simply DFA him. There has got a be a no-hit, defensive whiz that we can get for cheap. I can tolerate a poor bat (Gomez) if he plays elite defense
  14. @ Colorado, @Arizona, @San Fran (i'm going to say a 4-7 trip) **4-7 overall Cubs, Houston, St. Louis (really need to go 7-2 or better) ** 11-9 overall @Houston, @St. Louis (3-3 split because we get Houston) **14-12 overall Pittsburgh, Los Angeles (really need to go 5-2 or better) **19-14 overall @New York, @ Pittsburgh (take 3/4 from Pitt on 4-3 trip) **23-17 overall St. Louis, Chicago (need to go 4-2 or better) **27-19 @Houston, @St. Louis (3-3 split) **30-22 Philadelphia, Colorado (4-2 homestand) **34-24 @Cinci, @Chicago (2-4 roadtrip) **36-28 Florida, Pittsburgh (5-1 homestand) **41-29 25-9 at home (doable at their current pace) 16-20 on the road (might be tough given our struggles against even mediocre teams in the road) Thoughts?
  15. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Way to go Craig! HUGE WIN!
  16. One advantage for Craig... he'll take a walk... ouch 0-28 (for Craig)
  17. Wow... if CoCo wasn't pitching so awful, i'd say he should be ejected for that
  18. I love our manager's logic. Kotsay has one big hit all season, but it was this weekend, therefore he will be awesome every night? Also, YuBet- look at how a walk can be had fairly easily from a clearly wild reliever. DFA AnOutYuBet NOW!
  19. Why is YUNI on this team? Wow am i frustrated. Yuni and Wilson staying on our roster is really starting to get old
