  1. WOW! Great job from Jon-Luc to frame that... no way that was a strike. Way to work out of the jam BK!
  2. Did anyone lose the Fox Sports Wisconsin feed? I have other channels, but not FSN for some reason. Stupid TWC!
  3. I think it has the potential to hurt our success though. The past three games are classic examples. Just because we won two games courtesy of two Cardinals meltdowns doesn't mean that we shouldn't look to improve. The reality is that Weeks is arguably the worst position player on a MLB roster right now. He has a great attitude, but his defense is terrible, his offense is terrible, he is a poor pinch hitter, he can't play more than one position, and plays the same position as one of our most durable players.
  4. Our lineup just looks "hollow" to me without Braun in there... but having Segura and A-Ram back in there really helps Time to get it done
  5. After a rough start to the season, and inches away from what could have been a career ending (or certainly impacting) injury, does Segura re-consider an offer the Brewers might have presented? If he regains his 1st half of 2013 form, and keeps it up for 4 more seasons, he could be looking at a Superstar (7/150) deal... but if he doesn't, and he posts a .650 OPS with elite defense, in some ways, he is "just a guy"... One step further... if he gets whacked by a bat/ball/teammate again and it alters his vision, he could end up a street free agent. None of this is likely, but if you... Had a 5% chance at $0 (or minimal salary) (injury risk) Had a 80% chance at $40M (over 8 years) Had a 10% chance at $75M Had a 5% chance at $100+ Would you pass up the $40 million?
  6. I wonder what Pitt would want for him in a trade? Although they probably don't want to help us out... Forcing us to keep a 24 man roster fearing losing a player who might be good that they didn't want...
  7. WTP- I had the same thought. If we "stretch" him out for say 50-60 pitches... and make he feels some "tightness" in the elbow... can we send him to the DL? I know potential is very important... but as bad as our lineup is... we were only down 1 run after 3 today.. Putting in WANG just seems like waving the white flag and saying "we're happy with 2/3" There will be weeks where we will go 2-5 or 3-4, and we need to maximize wins when we're playing well. I really like this team's ability (this year) to finish sweeps. I think good play leads to more good play, and good enough leads to funks
  8. Man, Shelby Miller's pitch count is only at 60! Yikes... I thought it was much higher... A few killer mistakes today - trying to steal 2nd with runners on 1-3 and 2 outs and Overbay ahead in the count - Garza's walks after being ahead 0-2 - LuCroy's passed ball that should have gotten Garza out of the inning at about 55 pitches instead of 75 in the 3rd
  9. No worries... game will be tied in the top of the third inning... We will take the lead for good with 1 out in the 5th innig
  10. Agreed on Brewers Fever.... This site was pretty dead list year, but this year we're rocking... Heck, by the second half of last season, we had one thread per WEEK of the season (about 2 pages of comments) Now if we could only get Brewers CHAT going again during the games. I predict that Reynolds goes yard twice today in a 2-1 Brewers win
  11. I realize we are only 3 games in, and I'm not suggesting we do something now... but if Yo is sitting at a sub 2.75 ERA and sub 1.25 WHIP at the All-Star break, do we try and extend him for say four years (wipe out the option year) If we're in it, no way we trade him, though that would probably bring maximum value with 1.5 years left of control. I really don't want any part of a 5-6 year deal (probably in the $100 million + range) after 2015, and if he had a solid year, I highly doubt he'd sign for anything less. That said, our fast start has gotten me really excited about our pitching, only to realize that 3/5th of our rotation isn't under team control after 2015 (Lohse, Estrada, Gallardo) Time will tell, but Yo, coming off last year, was probably looking at a 3/35 to 4/45 type deal after 2015, and while a strong first half would enhance those prospects for him, it also leaves his subject to repeating a 2012 or 2013 type season. He's 28 now, and would will be entering his Age 30 season (2016) as a FA... would he/we take a chance on a 4/60 deal (2015-2018) maybe with an option year for 2019 ($5M buyout or $20M team option) that would make the deal 4/65 or 5/80?
  12. He'll be 28 this season... (June) but his contract is such a bargain 2014- Age 27-28 $2 million 2015- Age 28-29 $3 million 2016- Age 29-30 $4 million 2017- Age 30-31 $5.25 million (option) I'm not saying give him 5/$75 or anything, but if he'd be open to say 2 more years for $18 million (maybe with an option year) 2018- Age 31-32 $8 million 2019- Age 32-33 $10 million 2020- Age 33-34 $10 million (2 million buyout) He hasn't made "that much money" IIRC, the original deal was for $14-16 million, so adding 2 guaranteed years would double that. I would expect (even if he moves off the catcher position), that he'll be a .275/.350/.450/.800 guy the next 4-5 years. While that bat definitely plays at Catcher, I wouldn't complain that much if we had a steady (OBP heavy) .800 OPS at 1st base at a reasonable price.
  13. I know he's signed through 2017 I believe (two more years + an option year), but if he has another great first half, I'd like to tack 2-3 years onto that extension. I imagine if Gomez has another solid year (signed through 2016), we might want to see what it would cost to add 2-3 years to his contact as well. Team is playing really well right now and seems to have that "X factor" that we were missing the last two seasons. Good pitching really helps
  14. The deals you've offered that you've offered the past four seasons have been GREATLY appreciated!!
  15. Yuni B for Stephen Strassburg and Bryce Harper
  16. And I thought the Cubs were done with giving away awful contracts... No way I would have gone more than 2/16 for Jackson. Simply floored. I would say our young arms are better than anything left on the FA market. (would have liked Greinke or Haren) If we can't trade for a cost controlled arm (don't really want to give up the future), I say we stand pat. Good job Doug on not taking the bite on Dumpster or Jackson
  17. aside from Greinke being 5 years younger... is there a significant difference in Greinke's 2012 numbers compared to Lee? I wouldn't want to offer Lee a 5-6 year contract at this point, but we're talking about 3 years
  18. Before I get laughed out of the room, hear me out... he signed a 5/120 before the 2011 season, so he has roughly 3 years and $72 million left on this deal. That is a BIG chunk of change, but less risky than a 5/110 deal or whatever it would have taken (in a best case scenario) to get Greinke. Lee would be with us for the 2013, 2014, and 2015 seasons. (I believe we have Yovanni during that window?) Is Lee the same type of diffence maker as Greinke? If the answer is yes, would you sign Greinke to a 3/72 deal? Would it be cheaper to aquire Lee (in terms of prospects), than trying to trade for a proven/#1-2 type starter who is pre-arby or early arby? If we could trade Hart and Ramirez for some prospects, could those prospects be enough to net Lee?
