  1. Analytics says they made the right call based on the percentage of converting a 4th and short alone...not that I agree with analytics at that stage of the game
  2. Seahawks can't stop the run either
  3. More like playing this Giants team helps. The nfc east is soooo bad
  4. 49ers getting housed at the half at home
  5. Bold added by me for emphasis. The State of Wisconsin has had more cases than the COUNTRY OF JAPAN, and the COUNTRY OF AUSTRALIA. The difference? Enacting proper policies to contain the virus, and a populace willing to adhere to them. How many tests did Japan run overall during the 9-10 months COVID was known to be in their country? About 500k more than the state of WI has done during roughly 7 months. Japan has roughly 25x as many people as Wisconsin does. Japan's confirmed case count total is about as meaningful to compare elsewhere as Mexico's. Despite limited testing, Japan did have a notable spike in cases this summer and did nothing in terms of additional lockdowns or limitations - and it dipped back down again on its own. They simply didnt care to try and track asymptomatic or mile symptomatic case spread because they never tested enough to do so, and their population never truly had the threat of widespread hospitalizations/deaths. Japan's population in general is probably 25x healthier than Wisconsin's in terms of diet and comorbidities - thats the major difference with how they were able to navigate this year and be in a much better position. If what you mean by proper policy dates back to eating better and generally being healthier as a country much earlier than when covid showed up in fall 2020 on this planet, then we agree.
  6. Oddly, the way Rodgers' contract is currently structured, they'd only free up ~$4-5 million next year if they trade him. That's right - I got a season ahead of myself remembering when Clark's deal really jumps and makes it almost impossible for the Packers to have both him and Rodgers on the roster with their current deals. On a non salary cap related but still bad note for the Packers - the Vikings look like they got a really good WR in Jefferson - impressive the last couple weeks with how he is torching press man coverage as a rookie WR
  7. There is always dealing Rodgers next offseason to create cap room...99 percent of me is kidding with things all roses and butterflies so far this season, but stranger things have happened. The thing is, if the salary cap stays flat or declines due to reduced league revenues, a very likely scenario, then a LOT of teams will be in salary cap hell. Most big contracts are set up under the assumption there's no way league revenues will ever drop - thats likely to change across the board. For the NFL, it wouldn't surprise me if they figure out a way to have an emergency 1-2 uncapped seasons until league revenues stabilize. If they don't, there are going to be a ton of players cut or forced to restructure deals that wind up costing them alot of $.
  8. Grady Jarrett is a pretty damn good Dlineman - don't think he lined up in front of Jenkins exclusively last night but I'm sure some of those mishaps by Jenkins were related to Jarrett either beating him or disrupting a play where it put Jenkins a little out of position when he was blocking someone else. Plus, there was at least one very questionable holding call on Jenkins where it was more like he just flat out dominated whoever he was blocking.
  9. I think TV viewership is up this season...for obvious reasons. I would imagine TV viewership in general for any program is up quite a bit in this climate. I don't think they will find any negative effects because of COVID. It's not so much where TV ratings are at in the midst of a pandemic that is preventing fans' butts in arenas/stadiums (from what I can tell ratings in general are down across the board for sports broadcasts), it's the uncertain long term revenue outlook for sports leagues right now that is going to lead to individual TV rights deals needing to be negotiated to be handcuffed. Specific to baseball, the potential for a work stoppage after next season also looms large for any service provider looking to broadcast 2022 games. If I'm the Brewers or any team needing to re-up a TV deal this offseason, I try to find a way to negotiate a very short term deal for game broadcast rights, perhaps even via a streaming service, until both revenue uncertainty due to COVID and the coming fight between the players' union and ownership are addressed and resolved.
  10. I'm with you. That's the best test of the offense. Even their best teams have had big issues as soon as a good defense gets overly physical. I would never describe a McCarthy offense as tough. This one might have the running game to offset it. The good news is that the defenses in the NFC are not particularly tough. At this point the Packers are my clear lead horse in the NFC. I think they would be tested by Seattle but are a more well-rounded team. Their next opponent should be a good one though. I believe it's Tampa, a team with great defensive speed and one that for whatever reason Rodgers has had a lot of trouble with in his career, probably coincidentally. The differences this Packers offense hopefully has compared to recent years is a solid running game, obvious willingness to use motion/misdirection that can help free up receivers from jams to get the ball out on time, and a group of TEs that are looking like they can finally stress the middle of a coverage defense. Looking forward to the Tampa game, hopefully with Clark and Adams back on the field and after hearing all the other defensive injuries last night are of the minor variety - lots of guys knicked up last night
  11. Honestly, teams trying to renegotiate an improved TV/media deal for game broadcast rights in this current climate couldn't ask for worse timing. Stinks for the Brewers. This offseason is going to be very quiet across the league in terms of large free agent signings - wouldn't surprise me to see a pile of salary dump trades that actually include some good veteran players currently on teams that got hammered more financially than others, especially if Opening Day 2021 isn't looking like it will include full stadiums of fans.
  12. ho hum, 4-0 headed to the bye...could definitely be in worse straits! The creativity of this offense is insanely good thus far
  13. lol at the announcers "Ryan just doesn't have the supporting cast around him" At the start of the game they made a big deal about their Oline being all 1st rounders, then they have Julio Jones and Calvin freaking Ridley... Defensively sure, they stink - but they are maddeningly inconsistent offensively despite having some studs all over that side of the ball. Ryan just is past his prime and isn't nearly as dynamic as other QB's in the league right now.
  14. Nope. If you don't know it by now, MLF is not MM. You might also note that Rodgers wasn't gimpy... yeah that roll out and run was great to see after the end of the last series
  15. They need one of these turnover opportunities to dagger them
  16. yeah that looked hyperextended a bit too much for my liking...hope he's good
  17. This SHOULD be a good game to get Dillon lathered up in quarter 4...hopefully the defense can get off the field a time or two to prevent the score from getting interesting. Then again, the Falcon secondary is getting turnstyled all game long and it'd be just as easy to do that another drive or two
  18. Yeah, I'm perplexed - they started the drive at midfield
  19. Is Greene in for Sullivan due to concussion protocol more or less? If so, they need to figure out how to get both Greene and Sullivan on the field at the same time
  20. I thought that was worth reviewing, actually They showed the pylon cam view and I couldn’t see anything that looked like he got in. I think it wound up being alot closer than it appeared by the time he was actually touched - even if it was a slim chance of being ruled a TD, I thought that would have been a good spot to "waste" a timeout and give more time for a better 4th down playcall
  21. I thought that was worth reviewing, actually
  22. Yep...get Dillon in the game in those spots and run some power
  23. that is really close....and then they run into a wall again at the goal line
