  1. Metcalf, Lockett, Wilson, and Pete Carroll are what im worried about. Quite frankly I’d have much rather any of the other 5 in the NFC except SF, and I don’t think they’re what they were last time we met. Hopefully I’m wrong about it and you have to beat em anyway to get where we want to go. In the Divisional round, basically every opponent is going to have a couple great to good players that can give their team a chance to win. This dangerous and worrisome Seahawks team couldn't put away an even more decimated Eagles squad who had a high school football coach playing QB most of the game yesterday. The Packers have it all in front of them with this game - they are the better team and should win at home Sunday night. If they don't we'll all be disappointed, and it will be because they didn't play well. That could obviously occur based on the Packers' body of work of occasionally getting trounced and oftentimes playing down to their opponents' level...but the Seahawks are the exact same way.
  2. Yes, I can see them changing the rule that after a delay of game call, the clock is just stopped and won't wind again until the ball is snapped - regardless of the time left in a quarter/half/game and of the down a delay of game gets called. That would be a pretty simple way to get rid of this. Or give the opposing team the option to both decline presnap penalties or stop the clock before the next down.
  3. I keep thinking about the last divisional round playoff game the pack played seattle in lambeau, hoping it's one if those type of days for the green and gold. The Packers were a doubted #2 seed with an aging star qb, they promptly fell behind 14-0 due to a pair of early Ryan Grant fumbles...then they proceeded to kick the crap out of them. That's the kind of nostalgia I'm working with (forget what happened the week after that game in 2008!). I actually draw a lot of similarities with that 2007-8 squad and this team.
  4. I guess I'm the opposite - of the 3 teams they could have potentially faced next weekend Seattle was the one I was pulling for. Weather forecast doesn't look like anything earth-shattering in terms of gametime temps/playing conditions. However, I like the fact the Seahawks will be bouncing around time zones again having to travel to Green Bay right after flying to/from Philly this past weekend. Seattle is basically Russell Wilson and Metcalf on offense, with a keep 'em honest run game due to its decimated running back and Oline personnel groupings. I think GB's defensive line can pressure Wilson with rushing just 4 and keeping a spy on Wilson at times to limit his big plays scrambling. They do have some other receivers that can make plays, but Metcalf is the matchup problem for the secondary just due to his size. Defensively, the Seahawks would be a much bigger problem to deal with if their edge rushers (Clowney, Ansah) were healthier. They can be had in the play action game, and I think Jones can have a big day running the ball provided Rodgers & the receivers keep their defense honest with the passing game. I'm very interested to see Raven Greene's participation rate in practice this week, along with watching the Bulaga/Lindsley injury situation along the line.
  5. Despite injuries, the eagles' oline and dline are both formidable groups - I'd rather not face them compared to the seahawks just because those lines could wreck a game.
  6. So far, I'm thrilled the packers will be playing either one of these teams next weekend
  7. Now that the seahawks can't play san fran next week, I want them to win this game. Something about philly doesnt make me like the matchup with the packers. I also like the thought of them flying all the way across the country to/from philly and then jumping forward two time zones to play in freezing weather the very next week against a rested packer team.
  8. Taysom Hill will be the Saints starting quarterback next season. And by week 8 people in New Orleans will be clamoring for Trevor Lawrence to be their 2021 starting qb.
  9. I'd have more respect for Riveron if he just stated the rule should have never been made and they dont want to be final judge and jury on anything short of a blatantly obvious play that is as bad or worse than that one in last years nfc title game.
  10. Brutal spot on that thielen catch...that's over a full yard off
  11. Maybe now just sorta sure...
  12. Lol...its not GB either, obviously
  13. Someone better check whether they practiced on new years day...
  14. I'm conflicted watching this game...on the one hand I always enjoy watching the vikings lose, on the other hand watching this saints offense in their home, climate controlled dome struggle against the vikings makes me want the saints at lambeau if its below freezing next weekend. Drew brees has zero arm strength, btw. That will look even worse in cold weather
  15. It is an interesting loophole, if you were up by say 2 TD's with 10 minutes left with 4th down at the opponents 40 couldn't you run the clock all the way down to 5 minutes? At worse you force the opponent to burn a timeout. Yeah you give up field position but considering you are probably playing prevent D to make the other team burn clock why not burn it yourself when you have the ball? I guess the refs could just step in and call unsportsmanlike conduct and put an end to it after a couple of penalties. Always happy to see Belichick's shenanigans thrown back in his face. I believe it’s an unsportsmanlike conduct if a team takes more than one delay of game penalty without running a play. Not sure if the play clock would continue after that penalty or not, but it would move them back 15 yards. If they didn’t care about field position and the clock would continue to run after the penalty, I could see a team doing that. But you would be moving back pretty quickly at 15 yards per clip. Would the coach get ejected then for multiple unsportsmanlike conduct penalties then if they did it a couple times? Interesting... It sure seems like one of those things where they will make up another rule to prevent it from happening. Like after it happens once the penalty winds up stopping the clock or the opposing team has the option of declining the penalty and stopping the clock.
  16. Since they could easily be playing the seahawks or eagles next week, I'll go with the under
  17. I'm pretty sure Smith has no options remaining, which is why he is likely to be dealt this offseason.
  18. ....I'm not following at all. Yea... Neither of these teams belong in playoff discussions. As pac 12 champ, oregon would be one of the 5 power conference champ reps...as of halftime in the big ten title game, WI had an outside shot at creeping into the top 5-6 ranked teams in the country, too. My point is that expanding the playoff would definitely have included these teams in a 6 team cfp discussion, and their play most certainly proved they wouldn't have deserved it.
  19. I know it's a bowl and there are seniors who will never play again leaving the team and all that, but I'm hoping Chryst or Alvarez gets into that locker room and blows the roof off it slamming the team's play. That was an embarrassment that just can't be swept under the rug as having a bad day in a bowl game. If performing well in a bowl is a spring board to recruiting and program development, this sure as hell sets things back 10× worse.
  20. Yep. 70% completion rating, but there's nothing about that that feels exciting or compelling or like it should keep Mertz on the bench if he's the real deal. Heck, Alabama benched Jalen Hurts for Tua, we can surely bench Jack Coan, right? I'm hoping coan is entering the transfer portal this spring
  21. That blown timeout from earlier this half to convert after one of those horrific spots looks pretty big now, yes?
  22. Just putrid officiating, but the badgers deserve to lose and will after that 1st down
  23. This game will be pointed to for years as reason #1 not to expand the CFP to 6 teams
  24. On that Davis fumble, maybe next time the two WI blockers in front of him actually decide to touch that safety instead of letting make an explosive hit there. Davis has to protect the ball, but the badgers had guys in position to block that play for big yardage and they just whiffed.
