  1. Vikes oline sucks without Cook...and the Packers D really came to play!
  2. It really is amazing these two teams will both be in the playoffs after having won double digit games
  3. That's exactly what I thought could happen, and their online can't pass protect without play action. 1st possession after the half is big for the d to keep points off the board. O needs to get in the end zone.
  4. This looks like Rodgers has money on them to cover but not win tonight. Jesus - hold onto the ball! Kendricks out so TEs need to step up
  5. This looks like weeks 1 and 2 for this defense again If only the offense weren't blowing their own legs off every other play...
  6. Lucky that wasn't another pick... Average rodgers and the packers are two scores better than the Vikings...this is not anywhere close to average Arod, though
  7. So make a play for your qb...
  8. Like who? Donaldson is the only significant guy left. Unless you are talking about a significant trade. Lots of guys available via trade that would be needle movers...let's see how the Lindor sweepstakes shakes out, if he winds up with the right club there will be a guy or two available that arent really being mentioned currently
  9. The lack of signing a big ticket starter has me even more convinced they are adding something significant at 3rd. That being said - it wouldn't surprise me for the Brewers to also try bringing in a guy like Homer Bailey on a 1 year deal with an option to solidify their rotation depth...he was falling off a cliff as a Red but had a pretty good bounceback year with KC/Oak in 2019.
  10. Ray - #5 overall in AAA after a very uneven minor league career due to injuries and surprising issues with his hit tool - which was one of the reasons he was considered the draft's best collegiate player the year he was drafted in what is shaping up to be a relatively poor draft class from a starpower standpoint. The talent is still there, the consistency sure isn't - which might force him into the "bust" status. Hiura - #9 overall - made it to the majors less than two years from the date he was drafted. Defensive questions or not, his bat will be in the center of the Brewers' lineup for the forseeable future. Turang - #21 overall - One of the Brewers top prospects after just 1 full season in the minors, they did very well to nab him when they did in the first round. Small - #28 overall - this year will be a big indicator of just how high Small's ceiling can climb. If his velo returns a bit more a few years removed from Tommy John he's a legit top of the rotation starting pitcher prospect. If not his ceiling is still that of a mid-rotation lefthanded starter, which is gold to get at #28. They've done just fine in the first round, IMO.
  11. The seahawks actually have looked bad the past three weeks, some of it is definitely injury related but that's what happens in football. 49ers defense has been average at best since october aside from the Packers game. I dont see GB beating the saints in new Orleans, but a cold or sloppy weather game at Lambeau in January makes it interesting if they match up in the playoffs. A win tonight in any way, shape, or form is enormous in terms of playoff positioning.
  12. The 49ers or Seahawks gotta actually lose first. Check - too bad the rams blew it last night, too.
  13. I'd bet my life savings that you are wrong on jimenez...dude hit 30+ bombs as a rookie in 122 games, played through extended stretches with nagging hip and shoulder ailments when he wasn't on the DL. There are surely overrated pieces to the white sox roster, but Jimenez is not one of them. If he's healthy he's already a 40hr, 900+ OPS player. Even with below average defense that's 4-5 WAR player. His defense is literally some of the worst in the league, it’s going to kill his value. He also doesn’t really walk and is injury prone. He pretty much has to hit .280+ and hit 40+ HRs to carry value because he does nothing else. His ceiling is probably something like the year Soler just had and that wasn’t even 4 WAR and with a BB rate Eloy hasn’t put up since A ball. Plus if the ball stays juiced the power isn’t all that valuable. Lol, Jimenez is all of 23 and you act like he's Pujols running around out there...basing Jimenez's ceiling off 3/4 of his rookie year in MLB is pretty shortsighted. Ask every mlb GM if they could replace one of their starting corner OF's or DH with jimenez, and you may be able to count the teams who dont instantly say yes on one hand.
  14. I think they’re ridiculously overrated. Eloy is capped at a 2-3 win player at best with the defense and doesn’t really walk, Robert is more likely Brinson 2.0 than the player he’s hyped to be, Tim Anderson has as many years at .1 WAR as he does over 2.1, Abreu and Grandal are aging and Abreu just isn’t that good, ownership doesn’t really spend as the Grandal and Keuchel deals are like the largest contracts they’ve ever given out, more times than not young pitchers break and don’t pan out as prospects and it’s rare to sequence them all out being good at the same time, etc. There’s a path to being plenty good and have optimism, I just don’t buy it. I'd bet my life savings that you are wrong on jimenez...dude hit 30+ bombs as a rookie in 122 games, played through extended stretches with nagging hip and shoulder ailments when he wasn't on the DL. 15. Kinda looks like the 49ers peaked a bit too early this season....the #1 seed is most definitely still in play if the packers win monday night.

  17. So what does the Brewers signing Smoak have to do with tailgating affordability again? The last 1.5 pages of this thread appears to have gone off the rails so far it actually got back on different set and kept right on chugging along... If Smoak were a tailgater, I bet he'd have BBQ!

  19. If the Rockies do decide to become sellers, I think they would opt to try and deal trevor story, not arenado...mainly because they can essentially afford trying to keep just one of those two studs around longterm. Story also has two years left of arbitration control at a pretty high price, but nowhere near Arenado's deal. I think. One of the Rockies top prospects is a SS, and he may be ready to play more at the mlb level. Story would also be a 3b fit for milwaukee, or he sticks at SS and the brewer shift the other players over to man 3rd - either way it would be a huge offensive upgrade to the left side of the infield....but it would cost alot in terms of prospect capital and young mlb pitching.
  20. So give us a list of these 3B. Who are the most likely candidates? I said earlier in a different thread that I won't be surprised if it is someone like Matt Chapman, Carlos Correa or Corey Seager. Someone with some clout in their name that no one really had the Brewers pegged as going after. I wish Kris Bryant wasn't a Cub because he would be an ideal target as he could play 3B or 1B. Another Dodger that could become available is Justin Turner - owed roughly 40M over the next two seasons, if the Dodgers wind up acquiring Lindor they could opt to move Seager to 3rd and try offloading Turner and his contract elsewhere. When healthy he's still an elite 3B, and his numbers would spike playing home games in Milwaukee instead of Chavez Ravine. Or the Rockies could decide to use 2020 as a rebuilding year, and if so they may see what's available on the trading block for Trevor Story if they want to try and build around Arenado - they will essentially need to pick one or the other in a couple year. Story's trade value will only drop after opening day 2020. Story would cost a ton of what the Brewers have left of a farm system even though he only has 2 yrs before FA, but who knows? And there's also Kyle Seager from the M's, who probably wouldn't cost much more than Arcia + very low level prospect if the Brewers agree to take on a big chunk of his remaining salary.
  21. I'm convinced there will be a significant addition to play 3B - and it will come via trade - Donaldson's price tag is just going to be too steep
  22. Also add the Cubs are still pretty loaded with LHP, and despite their payroll issues still have a lot of untapped potential on their MLB roster. Curious as to where this untapped potential lies given they have an aging roster and group of supposed can't miss studs who really have amounted to a collection of league averageish players with significant warts, who are all approaching the more expensive arbitration stages of team control. Plus they are still sparring with that Bryant grievance that might make him a FA after this year - unlikely that happens, but it sure as heck seems like it's quashed any immediate trade moves/acquisitions with their offseason until its sorted out. The Cubs are bumped up against the luxury tax threshold and have alot of holes that need to be filled on their MLB roster - they are actually having a horrible offseason.
