  1. This is going to end very soon here... #hoping4FreezingColdTake
  2. it'll be a murderer's row of Cub hitters I'd hate watch hit a HR, too - Murphy, Contreras, and probably Schwarber.
  3. I fully expect Davis to give up a walkoff bomb this inning - will be shocked if the game sees the 10th
  4. There's your duck out at 2nd...knock him in
  5. Who do the cubs have left on the bench that can hit? Schwarber?
  6. wow...going with Strop here - heart of the order for a guy pitching in a game for the first time in a month since pulling a hammy
  7. here comes a bloop double to score 3
  8. They won 3 of 4 earlier this year...I actually like the though of our offense getting to hit in that thin air, too.
  9. thus far, there doesn't appear to be a team on this field that I'd prefer the Brewers play - they both look kinda bad...
  10. Twins got a new GM and director of baseball ops during the 2016 offseason - who were told by the Twins owner that Molitor will be the manager for at least one more season - the Twins then drastically overperformed in 2017 and got a wild card berth, earning Molitor sort of a contract extension that still had a reasonable buy-out. Took a big step backwards this year through no fault of Molitor, so now it's time for the Twins' baseball people to go out and bring in "their guy" to be manager.
  11. I'm rooting for the Rockies, because I think they aren't as good of a team as the Cubs - even though the Cubs are on fumes. For whatever reason the Brewers struggle with LH starters, and the Cubs could run out 3 good ones for an entire NLDS and handcuff the Brewers' left-handed hitting lineups. Brewers are 5-2 against the Rockies this year, and the Brewers would maintain a significant homefield advantage over them compared to the circus that Cub-Brewer afternoon games at Miller Park would bring.
  12. I'm with you. I have a feeling they might be reeling from yesterday. If they had a couple of days to "recover" then their chances of winning are much better. The Rox can hit homers. Will the wind be blowing out? Winds are supposed to be out of the north during most of the day, but switching to east and even ESE - less than 10mph and either blowing in from left or from right depending on the time. Wrigley will play big tonight, but it's not like the weather conditions will turn this into a college softball game. Temps are supposed to be hovering around 60 - great night for fall baseball, actually. To me it's all on Lester - CO has a huge bullpen advantage just because they have better late inning options who aren't completely burned out, they can cope with a relatively short start from Freeland. If Lester isn't dominant, the Cubs are in big trouble because their late inning pen is in shambles due to both overuse and injury - I'd actually expect a regular starter or two to be the 1st arms out of their pen tonight (Hamels, Hendricks...).
  13. To me it is their fans who are insufferable and not the players - save that one clown (a pitcher?) who said this isn't a rivalry. I have an older couple who are neighbors and Big Cub Fans. They have a W flag on their porch. Long story short, I have been grilling steaks and drinking some Miller Lites out back for hours this evening. They are out back as well. No “Hi” no nothing. Petty as hell. Any thoughts on how to approach this?? Look forward to creative responses. Tell them they need to change their flag for one... I'd probably walk over and congratulate the Cubs for earning a Wildcard berth while sipping said Miller Lite, then remind them they should change their W flag or at least take it down because "it's bad luck to assume victory in tomorrow's wild card game"
  14. I think my play/sequence of the game was that awesome strike 2 call on Heyward by the ump on a 3-1 pitch when he obviously had the count wrong in his head, followed by Heyward hitting a flyball to right that Wrigley thought was hit 500 feet. I laughed for the entire commercial break after that.
  15. I like both clubs' chances - both have been hot as of late and have dynamic lineups. With the Cubs' current bullpen situation anything short of a dominating start by Lester and they're in trouble. Lester found a way to get through 5 or 6 scoreless innings against the Pirates in his last start, but he was shaky at best. Regardless of who the Brewers get in the NLDS, they're going to have their hands full. It's just great winning the division and getting 2 full days to rest up the pen and have a series to prep for, not another winner take all WC game the day after using everyone but Jeffress of note from the bullpen knowing your starter won't be expected to go much past 4-5 innings no matter who it is.
  16. I think they're basically letting Hader have this inning, and if it winds up tied, Woodruff comes in...save JJ either way
  17. He came in as a defensive replacement for Aguilar last half inning after CC let him face a righty - I would've PH Shaw in that spot against Kintzler in the 8th.
