  1. Sure did - sliders out of the zone are tough to hit...glad rockies are being overagressive. It's the ABs where hitters are forcing him to throw strikes where he's getting hit hard...
  2. yeah, he's not fooling decent hitters at all, aside from that bad Story 3-2 strikeout
  3. To be fair, his last start at Miller Park is practically responsible for 1 run of that ERA...and he was pretty darn good this past month
  4. And apparently Brewer hitting has decided they want to get Anderson a CG today based on their ABs thus far
  5. It sure does seem like a theme this postseason... also, Chacin has got to start batters off with strikes to keep his pitch count in a range where he can go 5-6 innings today.
  6. I am only listening to Uek so I can't see front row Amy You're missing the loons next to her, who thought it would be clever to show up wearing John Elway and Brett Favre jerseys. lol, I know - john elway doppleganger and what looks like liza manelli's blond cousin
  7. I mean, it has to be HighHeat19, doesn't it? Coach Cooper
  8. I think Yelich is going to get the Bonds treatment to start this series, and it will be up to the rest of the Brewers' middle of the order to make CO pay for taking the bat out of his hands. Key to the series from a Brewers' perspective is how productive the #3-5 spots in the order are. I'm very interested in hearing the Brewers' starting pitcher options for games 1-3 of this series. Maybe I'm nuts, but I think Anderson needs to be on the postseason roster if he isn't injured, particularly with the Rockies' biggest bats being right handed (Arenado, Story). I get that he's given up alot of HR and I'm not sure if I'd pencil Chase in for a start, but I think he'd be a solid long relief option in games started by Miley or Gio. I also feel like one of the Brewers' biggest strengths down the stretch is about to be significantly handcuffed - their ability to have quality depth of 35-36 guys on the expanded September rosters. Moving back to a 25 man playoff roster is really going to lead to some tough decisions and guys are going to be left off that have really contributed the past few weeks - I think I'd prefer they prioritize an extra spot or two for pitchers and live with the risk of being a bit shorthanded for a backup IF or OF spot - I think a guy like Perez is valuable to serve as a reserve IF/OF, even if there may be better options as a pinch runner or late inning OF defensive replacement. The quality RH bullpen options the Rockies have will make it important to carry as many LH bats as possible.
  9. The other thing I'll add for many of the comments made about the Cubs "grind" from late-August through September due to limited off days and heavy travel - that's true, but it misses the point about the advantage they had early in the season with getting alot of unscheduled days off to keep a thin bullpen fresh and not have relievers and position players burn out earlier in the season. The Brewers had their tough stretch of games without an off day mid-season, which happened to be roughly the same time they fell in the standings. They were able to take advantage of a pile of days off from August-September to keep key arms and players fresh without having to sit them on game days.
  10. Throwing money at perceived problems is how they got that Heyward contract. I have no doubt that Harper will be a Cub in 2019, though. I'd say Machado is 50/50 to be one as well. Think I read they are already on the hook for $136 million next year. That's without big arby raises to baez, schwarber, hendricks, edwards, montgomery, probably a small hike to Bryant despite injuries this year, and taking off a bunch of soon to be fa's from this year's roster that leave holes to fill unless they are resigned (Hamels, Murphy, Wilson, Chavez). That's also without excercising the likely options for Quintana and Strop to remain with the team. They also have the Addison Russell issue to deal with - he would have been due arbitration, but given his performance and off the field issues he is probably done as a cub. For a team that boasted seemingly unlimited quality MIF options as recently as the start of 2018, they will be down to baez at SS and a late 30s zobrist at 2nd with very little mlb-ready depth behind it should Happ stay an OF. Without adding any significant fa's, their payroll commitment for 2019 is easily pushing 175 million after some team options and arbitration raises are factored in - that's without resigning Hamels and doesn't include filling out the full 40 man roster.
  11. Throwing money at perceived problems is how they got that Heyward contract. I have no doubt that Harper will be a Cub in 2019, though. I'd say Machado is 50/50 to be one as well. No way it's both, that would be probably close to 70M per year in added payroll to a team that's about to start seeing alot of arby raises, and is already tied to alot of bad pitching money the next few years. I know they have their own network starting soon and will have alot more fun money for theo to throw around, but it's not like every dollar in revenue from it can go straight to payroll.
  12. The better move for their roster is to trade either schwarber or happ to try and pick up a decent pitching prospect or two and keep heyward.
  13. They've actually got a TON to sort out with their roster this offseason - assumption is that either Machado or Harper will be a Cub making crazy $$, but their young position player core underperformed this year due to a combo of injuries (Bryant) and just not being consistently good. Plus, their pitching is an expensive mess overall, and the cupboard down on the farm is bare. Barring other teams letting them off the hook by taking on players with bad contracts, they're going to struggle to dramatically improve as a team.
  14. that visitor's clubhouse is getting a workout at Wrigley!
  15. Now would be a good inning to plate a few runs, Rox...
  16. Hamels went only 29 pitches and two innings tonight...He may actually be available to still go Thursday but for sure could pitch Friday.
  17. I mean, is there really one we wouldn't hate to see? LaStella, maybe? Ha. I know Zobrist a little bit back from playing days in college - so there's at least one that wouldn't force me to drive off a cliff, lol...
