  1. Maybe the 2018 Texas ranger version of hamels is still in there somewhere....just in time for the playoffs.
  2. Might not be the easiest of routes, but as a Brewers' fan how sweet would it potentially be for this playoff run to the WS - exactly how it is currently set up? Brewers eliminate the Cards at Miller Park in the WC game Brewers take on the Cubs and beat them in the NLDS 3 games to 1, clinching it at Miller Park in game 4 Brewers find a way to win a series against the Dodgers (I have my doubts on the Braves being up to the postseason task against LA) Believe me I get how much it would stink to lose to either the Cards or Cubs, but I almost feel like the upside of beating them in the playoffs is too good to pass up.
  3. Didn't the Brewers open the season by winning the first 7 or 8 games head to head against the Reds? c'mon... To me it's the 5 game sweep at the hands of the Pirates right before the AS break, when the Brewers should have won at least 2 of those games. That and that fluky early season 4 game sweep at Wrigley where all the games finished like 1-0 or 3-1 due to the wind/weather dramatically impacting offense. That's why they likely won't win the division.
  4. Dbacks haven't been interested for weeks - although I think Montgomery is pitching...I had this one pegged for a lot of runs for both teams. Not sure which is actually worse after what is shaping up to be a Brewer loss unless they wake up - falling another game behind the Cubs or, should they also lose, missing an opportunity to make up ground on them while playing the Reds at home.
  5. Perez has really been struggling - would have much rather preferred Arcia entering the game to play SS after Shaw's removal, actually.
  6. I would imagine Santana should be grabbing a bat next inning. Sure would be nice to find a way to win this one tonight - get a few guys on and make it interesting, at least.
  7. It would be nice to see the Dbacks win the last two against the Cubs and win the series, but they seem to have their bags packed on this season. I feel like the one game the Cubs need to make up on the schedule to be even with the Brewers in terms of # of games played needs to be a loss in order for the Brewers to have a puncher's chance of catching or surpassing them for the division. Assuming that, finishing with 2 or more wins than the Cubs over the other 11 games is realistic considering the remaining competition.
  8. Football is quickly becoming a very difficult to watch sport and walk away with any sense of being entertained - after each pass play I spend more time looking at the live score line to see if a 'Flag' symbol shows up indicating at least one penalty on the play. Every incomplete or intercepted pass I'm looking on the field more for yellow than what the down and distance is, because the rules are so ridiculously slanted towards the offense that you just assume a defender did something wrong to cause a bad pass from a qb. If the NFL wants to stick with these insane rules that basically prevent a defender from putting a good hit on a quarterback, just do us all a favor and get rid of the O and D lines and play 7 on 7. Here's a thought - if you don't want the QBs getting hit so much, maybe do a better job at developing and putting a premium financially on quality offensive linemen who can block somebody instead of always having around 2 starting positions manned by guys just off the practice squad or 5th round rookies in order to afford paying your QB, WRs, and pass rushers most of your cap room. That's not a Packer-specific issue, it's league-wide. I also think the NFL should adopt collegiate rules for secondary play if they are going to be so ticky tack at times on PI calls yet still let crazy amounts of contact go. Get rid of the 5 yard chucking rule and allow cornerbacks to maintain contact with receivers anywhere on the field until the ball is in the air - provided they aren't holding them. Otherwise, defense is basically just something preventing a team from scoring on every play - not a unit that can actually dictate the outcome of games.
  9. I believe he threw 1 or 2 unofficial innings in that Friday night game against the Cubs that was rained out.
  10. the only reason it's probably a 1:20 start time to begin with is the stupid wrigleyville ordinance allowing for only so many night games. The Cubs probably requested a waiver due to these unusual circumstances and were either granted it or had to pay a fine of some sort to have another friday night game. this is a non-issue to me, even from a competitive advantage standpoint.
  11. I wonder what cool team themed dress up resident hipster Maddon will come up with for the flight to 'keep 'em loose'...can't wait to see twitter pics!
  12. I actually wonder whether that would be better for them down the stretch than having to get on a red eye tonight to play the makeup game. Assuming they actually could formally forfeit the game. Take the 1/2 game loss in the standings to get a flipping offday, stay home, and avoid flirting with hurricane precip. It would be so crazy if they get all the way out there only to be rained out again
  13. keeping my fingers crossed that bad, erratic Strop decides to take the mound in the 9th and we get a couple guys on to at least have a shot...
  14. What is Jennings doing in this game against the top of their order?
  15. We still have 6 more outs against their bullpen, right? long way to go if they can get to the 8th down only 2... Edit - nevermind
  16. gameday really sucks when a review overturn extends an inning...still telling me mid 7th at 2-0 right now
  17. Cubs can say the same thing...Chacin's been solid. Just need to find a couple holes and then blast one...
  18. My guess is that also has alot to do with where the money is coming in from and their relative market size.
  19. Neither will happen. I hope so, but I just saw the quote from Theo in this Article... Cubs president Theo Epstein said he’s counting on the likelihood that ‘‘common sense will prevail’’ when it comes to Major League Baseball’s final call on whether the Cubs and Nationals must return Thursday to Washington with a hurricane bearing down on the region to make up the game that was rained out Sunday. They'll play in DC on Thursday - if not some teams should file a formal protest. There are a ton of east coast games in more doubt due to that incoming hurricane than the cubs/nats game that are going to royally screw MLB's schedule of the last couple weeks. MLB is lucky to have the Cubs and Nats share an offday to schedule the makeup game. Pound sand Theo - this is karma for that BS rainout the Cubs pulled last year when their bullpen was fried and they simply didn't want to play.
  20. 24 pitches with time off before tonight means Hader is probably available Wednesday night - this is the right move.
  21. I honestly don't know whether it makes a difference. They have the meat of their order coming up, I doubt CC would've automatically pulled Hader for a PH even with the bases loaded. I agree that a PH for Arcia would've been my move to make in that spot - force the issue to see if Maddon would let Cishek face a lefty.
  22. La Stella is always a tough out as a PH, too. Caratini. They still have some options, but assuming Jeffress pitches the 9th Schwarber would've looked alot better with a bat later this game...
  23. Gameday tends to be wrong about these sort of things, but if Schwarber was burned for a Bote AB in the 7th inning of this game, that's just horrible managing right there. Can anyone watching live confirm that actually just happened?
