  1. He'll have his good outings, yes, but he'll also have outings like today, when it's a manager's job to realize when the wheels are about to fall off and get him out of there instead of watching the wheels fall off, the car run out of gas, and the metal rust off the car prior to doing anything.
  2. Hopefully Cooper returns the favor and leaves Wolf out there to dry and try to get him a win.... Nope, he actually has some common sense
  3. Watch the crew come back to tie the game, only to completely burn the bullpen out in a 15 inning game
  4. good lord...i think that platoon starter thing may be solved by giving McClung Suppan's spot in the rotation - that inning could've went better had they simply sent a batting tee up to the plate
  5. why? why completely throw a game away Ned?
  6. So, Sabathia and sheets going the next 2 games, and we have to save the bullpen why??? Seriously, he should have been pulled 2-3 batters ago
  7. I still laugh at all the baseball tonight gurus debating whether Santana would win 25 or 30 games in the NL going into this season
  8. Dempster's change is apparently not working then - some loud outs so far by the Marlins
  9. What are the odds of Wood coming off the DL on the 29th and actually being able to close in a game? He's been throwing changeups during some mound sessions, but I don't think he's ramped it up at all since the last time he was in a game. Isn't there probably going to be at least 1 rehab appearance in the minors? I don't see him being able to automatically start pitching like he was prior to developing the blister.
  10. Speaking of Zambrano - he threw 125 pitches last night, and moving Samardja (however it's spelled) to the starting rotation may be pushing Z back a day, too. Last time Zambrano went for 125, he had 2-3 crappy starts followed by a DL stint. That would mean Z would pitch the 3rd game of next week's series instead of matching up against Sheets.
  11. A devil ray can be considered a fish
  12. Anytime the team you're rooting for plays 15-12 over the course of a month, most people would be happy with that. Unless the Brewers decide to lose their last 7 games of July, they'll be better than that. My gosh, winning on the road really enhances the optimism in predictions!
  13. If guys are parading around the bases for a team 12 games out of a playoff spot during the middle innings of a meaningless baseball game, I have a problem with it. These home runs are game deciding blasts...if they were hit at home they're walk offs that are followed by team celebrations at the plate. It always looks worse for a hitter in the top of the inning to pose - it's obvious that the home crowd won't appreciate it. Aaron freaking miles did his own sort of pose just on Sunday. Aram hit a flyball to the warning track a few nights ago and acted like he just cured cancer at the plate - in like the 4th or 5th inning. Pujols and Arod do it all the time. Soriano, etc, etc, etc. The way I see it is if opponents don't like it, maybe they should get guys out instead of letting them hit huge, game-changing home runs. It's not just the Brewers, it's like this throughout the game. Oh, and if a team wants to get involved with the Brewers in a bean ball war, they might want to size up their active roster before comitting to trying to start a brawl....there's some big boys on this team.
  14. I think if Gallardo stays healthy, the Brewers are even more motivated to make the trade for C.C. - they would have still had a big time hitting prospect in their system who was effectively blocked for at least 3 more seasons. If they are serious about being all in, they would make that C.C. trade every time as long as they're in contention. I'm on cloud nine right now with how the Crew are playing, if only Yo hadn't gotten injured I'd be on cloud 10 right now looking at a rotation that had Sheets, CC, Yo, Parra, and maybe Yost's 3 arm platoon based on gametime humidity....honestly, if those four started a rotation, any one of us could be the 5th starter and the Crew probably makes the playoffs.
  15. Isn't this ump somebody's family/buddy on this board? I kind of hope he goes back down to AAA after this game - that outside corner is a big question mark for both teams
  16. Corey Hart is singlehandedly killing Brewer rallies - I'm hoping he finds a way to get hot over the weekend
  17. you go from a diving play away from taking the lead to giving the run right back up after a walk and a crappy play in right field...keep it at 2 runs please
  18. wow - top of the order leading next inning off...hold 'em scoreless here and get into that bullpen. gotta think wellmeyer's maybe got one more inning left
  19. According to multiple sources, Wood is indeed headed to the DL with a "chronic blister problem" trying to figure out how it could be chronic, when he hasn't pitched for close to a month...maybe it has something to do with other activities not related to baseball - possibly incorporating a hot tub again
  20. I would have liked this thread alot more if it read something like: "Turnbow to Arizona for good", or "Turnbow to Arizona for John Rauch"
  21. Wood may not have been officially placed on the DL, but he mightaswell be - Hasn't pitched in a game since July 11, and appears to not be available until later this weekend, if at all. They've been able to avoid moving him to the DL due to their post ASB struggles and lack of save opportunities - the starters have been able to keep the bullpen relatively fresh, even though they're a man short on the active pitching staff with Wood shelved. Howry's been scuffling, and Marmol would have let the tying run come to the plate last night if Paul Tracy would've left his bat in the dugout and taken the walk that Marmol appeared to be trying to give him. Rumors are swirling that the Cubs are looking to add another reliever before the deadline, too. Cubs have to be hoping that the blister heals enough to have him available for the Brewer series - not sure how effective he'd be with not having thrown any fastballs/sliders in 3.5 weeks though.
  22. Dude's 6-7 and probably over 300 lbs - not exactly a frame that can't handle 100+ pitches consistently. And while he's still relatively young, he's not fresh out of highschool. Unless he's throwing 125 pitches per start, there's no concern about him wearing down. Alot is made about all the complete games, but when you can get through 9 innings in less than 110 pitches, what's the big deal? People are looking for fire where there's no smoke regarding this. Ted Lilly threw 115 pitces over 6 innings last night and Braden Looper went over 100 over 5 innings - where's the concern about their workloads? IMO, the two Brewer starters' workloads that really need to be watched are Parra (youth, injury history, previous IP/year) and to a lesser degree Sheets (injury history, limited # of IP over the past 3 seasons). Sabathia's doing just fine.
  23. Chad Tracy should be DFA'd after that AB - you're down 4 runs, the only chance your team has requires you to end up on base, the previous batter just drew a 4 pitch walk, and you proceed to see 3 pitches, all which aren't strikes, and you swing at every one. sometimes I wonder what these guys think - you have to at least take one strike in that situation, with Marmol's stuff and the game situation I'd probably want to see a hitter take two.
  24. Micah Owings is horrible
