  1. Well...if it worked, couldn't it increase STL's pain even more? That's all I've got.
  2. But Satan is alive and well and was shown applauding and smirking from the STL dugout. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif Will I open a total can of worms if I ponder whether Carlos Gomez could have had that third out?
  3. Reason number 27443 to maintain my fan crush on Jim Powell: https://twitter.com/#%21/search?q=%23mlb Hmph!
  4. Lots of questions spring to mind with this one but why do you take a nude picture of your GF to the library? Would you want to use a book you found a nude picture in that wasn't meant to be in the book? How would Chris Carpenter explain all this to his son?You are correct. Lots of questions do spring to mind with this one. My most benign guess is that dude is maybe in an art class and sketched his sweetie. Had he exhibited a Carpenteresque potty mouth with my employee, I probably would have heard more about it, so at least he's got that going for him. I think if I were the girlfriend, my question would be "$10?"
  5. For the record, here's a link to the Boswell story in the Washington Post.
  6. A visitor to my library Monday night left the following lost-and-found note: "Picture of Nude Female. If found, contact (name/phone/email). $10 reward." My Monday night employee said this guy told him that he was missing a portrait of his nude girlfriend and thought he might have left it in our stacks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif
  7. He heard "Written in the Stars" once. too. often.
  8. So, whose walkup music did you use for the Grand March (which I didn't even know was a term)?
  9. I think I know exactly who you are talking about! Dark hair, In her 30's (?), at the game by herself (no, not front row Amy), sits in or around section 217. I had the "pleasure" of sitting next to her for 3 or 4 games this year. I posted something about her a while ago in the "what's bugging you thread". Oh, sadly (if this means there were two fans like this at MP this year) the woman I observed was blonde. She and the two men with her all had State Farm t-shirts on, which made me think they'd been part of that State Farm "go to bat" promotion. That trio sat in 218, right across the aisle from us in 217, on the night of the division clincher. That woman was tugging on the same post-game streamers I was. I got the streamers, mostly because I was motivated to not let the howler get them.
  10. Game 5 to Texas, 4-2. They now head to STL with two chances to win one. Gulp, says anyone who followed the Brewers in 1982.
  11. Yeah, that unfolded just as I was posting above about Nyjer's cat. Edit: I'd be ever so pleased if a video clip of the classiness were available.
  12. His kitty Slick Willy is going to have a hard time sleeping tonight.
  13. Do any genuine baseball fans actually say "Sa-WING battabatta!" at games nowadays? It sounds way too hackneyed to me to show real interest in the game. Over the last three weeks of the Brewers' 2011 season, I heard this at two games, from two separate fans, neither of whom seemed all that knowledgeable about the game (based on other things they yelled). My favorite was the woman who between sa-WINGbattabattas, kept howling. Howling. It wasn't even a Randy Wolf start.
  14. There was a knock on our front door Sunday evening. That usually means someone trying to sell us something, so we almost didn't answer. But it turned out to be a neighbor from our block telling us how much he has appreciated our "Because it snows in October" yard sign - which I ordered from the bf.net store in 2008 and have brought out every spring-to-fall since. I'd just taken it in for the off-season on Friday, and he was concerned that someone had stolen the sign. It's the only time in four seasons that a neighbor has remarked on the sign, and only the second comment we've had overall (the first being from a Brewers' employee who visited once). It made me feel pretty good, though...like we'd made some small difference.
  15. Game 4: Texas 4, ETGAB 0. Series tied 2-2. Tear.
  16. Fox Launches "We're Not Any Happier About This Than You Are" Campaign Promoting World Series
  17. It's perfectly fine to avoid talking about losses to the media...as long as you've earned that right.
  18. Though we're at best "meh" about this, we can't stop it from happening. Everything That's Good About Baseball won Game 1 Wednesday night (10/19), 3-2, in St. Louis. Texas defeated ETGAB in Game 2 Thursday night (10/20), 2-1, also in St. Louis. Game 3 is in Texas Saturday night (10/22), 7:05 PM CT, on FOX.
  19. That NLDS Game 5 seems like WAY more than two weeks ago.
  20. If I think of a question I'll post it here, but in the meantime congratulations in advance. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. Whizkid posted what I would have posted. May I have the dollar anyway? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. I saw some at the west Madison Kohl's on Monday. $24 for two glasses, which is why I'm hoping for a discount. They were also at the ballpark stores during October, I want to say for $15 each, but they weren't boxed there and no way would I have had faith I could keep them unbroken all the way out of the park (this was in the terrace level store), much less all the way to the car and home.
  23. I'm sure our collective bf.net mind can keep better track of which retailers are discounting Brewers postseason merchandise than I can alone. I had Monday off, so I checked the west Madison Kohl's (no discounts yet on postseason items), Penney's (no discounts on any MLB items, which is bizarre for them), and ShopKo (50% off postseason caps, but they didn't have much Brewers merchandise to begin with). I expect Madison stores to move Brewers stuff faster than Milwaukee stores, if only to make (even) more room for Badgers/Packers merchandise. I'm specifically hoping to score some of the NL Central Champions pint glasses at a discount. Thanks in advance, if you notice anything and contribute here!
  24. A friend of mine is attending his first baseball game of the season...tomorrow night in STL...after chiding me on Facebook about how "people" don't take the Brewers seriously because they don't "respect the game and its traditions." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif
