  1. CIN is 0-1 with Diego on the roster.
  2. Oh, you know that all it takes is one link in the right part of cyberspace and Classy Nation will be allll over it. I didn't much care for the comment that the Reds are now running their mouths "just like the Brewers." That has a major STL vibe to it. Also, jjkoestler, I agree that the comments would be great signature fodder...just on another message board.
  3. I found myself appreciating Brandon Phillips' performance in the All-Star Game this year. I find myself liking these comments he made about STL too.
  4. I suggest McSchellvy for the "Brew Beat" platoon name. Adam gets more syllables, but Jordan gets more letters. Also, way to help your cause, Narv-dog.
  5. To give credit where it is due, that was actually Oh, nuts. I knew Jordan does a lot of what McCalvy does, but I didn't realize he was posting on McCalvy's blog. Sorry, Jordan, if you read Brewerfan.
  6. Adam McCalvy's explanation/interpretation of the lineup. Not that it's any less bizarre as a result. It's like Ken put the roster in one of those pop-o-matic dice shaking things like the old Trouble board game had, and used the results to make his lineup. And here I'd just emailed my mom to assure her that if Corey had left Sunday's game due to injury, it would have been announced by now. She's going to doubt me now! /shaking fist at Ken/
  7. We were in Milwaukee Friday evening, in Darlington Saturday and back in Milwaukee Sunday. All three trips were fun, but I really feel like I could use a day to recover/catch up from our uncommonly active weekend.
  8. He had Sunday off? or did you meet him before or after Sunday's game?
  9. Fair enough on the nickname thing. I would like to emphasize the "began to" part of my softening statement above. I appreciated that pinch-hit home run he had like two weeks ago, and what appeared to be his enthusiasm to play despite his struggles to run. But I'm certain I'll be back to derisively saying "Diego" when the Reds play Milwaukee next (assuming his Achilles tendons haven't ruptured by then), and back to shaking my fist at the radio, TV or field when he resumes his Brewer killer status. Edit: Also, I never, ever warmed up to seeing him wear #15. #15 jerseys and shirts, in the 2000+ Brewers logo, should only say SHEETS.
  10. I am moderately surprised that it took until reply #32 in the thread for the word "Diego" to come up. I agree with crewcrazy's comparison to Jack Parkman - to me, Edmonds gave off something of a mercenary vibe in joining the Brewers and muscling his way onto the roster. However, even my attitude on him began to soften the last couple of weeks. So thanks for playing. I appreciate your contributions. Go Diego, go.
  11. I'd say this is my minimum hope for the rest of the year. We've already attended (and stayed to the end of, because that's how the hawing household operates) at least three games that were utter stinkers, and while I realize no team is immune to the occasional stinker, I think we've seen our share in 2010. Competitive play is easier to take, even when your team falls short. Otherwise, every year I selfishly hope for a winning record in games we attend. We are currently 13-10 (12-8 in MP, 1-2 elsewhere). Also, a .500 or better record overall would be nice.
  12. Casey, I emailed a copy of the photo directly to you. The sentence might have been better if the writer had just said "rose like a Hurricane."
  13. bigredrobbo's link indicates that 1984-1986 Brewer Ray Searage is taking "Kerwin's" place, at least for the rest of the season.
  14. What bugs me tonight is writing like this, from the Brewers' gameday program for the Houston/Arizona homestand: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs129.ash2/39766_1535378150107_1404434242_1397179_3101448_n.jpg Presumably the word they wanted was "meteorically." The Gameday programs have been in sore need of a copy editor for some time. I would be happy to offer my services, gratis. I'm not kidding.
  15. I was pleasantly surprised to find the ballpark much more comfortable than I'd expected this morning (when it was still raining). Plus a sweep, which is nice even if it comes about as close to as "should sweep" situation as the 2010 Brewers can probably get. I didn't object to seeing Hawkins and Riske used in a low-leverage setting. I was dismayed by the multiple doubles and warning track power fly outs the 'Stros got off Riske. As our usher asked me, "This is his last year, right?" In the middle of the game appeared a pleasant reminder that our Brewers are more than just ballplayers: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs249.snc4/39766_1535378190108_1404434242_1397180_286989_n.jpg Awww! The S.O. asked if Yo had to pay for that. I pointed out that he should be able to afford it. So - keep up the improvements, Brewers. It'd be nice if you could make some hay this next series.
  16. And that would only be a four-man rotation! (sadly)
  17. The Brewers are listening to thablingster, at least on today's lineup. Cain and Lucroy both. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. Dear Yo and teammates: Those of us who make the trip today will be broiling in a sauna, possibly whether the roof is open or closed. Please make it worth our while, and not just for the Italian bobbles. Thanks a bunch, hawing
  19. "human people"...that hurts, man. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I think there's something to your Trevor observation, though. His early-season struggles certainly contributed (I'd say a lot) to the Brewers' woes this year.
  20. It looks like you can only buy them as a group. Also, sometime "soon" there will be pricing and availability information for 2010. (oops)
  21. The Brewers' website includes a seating chart which is less detailed than you are looking for. I know that the diamond box seats in the loge level are the first five rows, if that helps at all. When I've had questions about how far back (or in front) of a section seats are, I've called our ticket rep to find out. I think calling the ticket office would be worthwhile in that regard. I'll throw in a vote for the loge seats in front of the press box. We have had a 20 pack in 217 since 2008 and it has become my favorite view. The only thing we can't see well is the far RF corner, which Bob and Cory also can't see so we feel in good company. Note that 217 is a family section, so it's not everyone's cup of tea (or mug of beer), but the rest of that stretch (216, 218-221) allows drinking and a similar view. We've had two opportunites to sit in the front of the field level. For one game in 2007 we were in the front row of 117 and while you definitely want the net in front of you in that area, having it *directly* in front of you was distracting for me. Then for one of the Detroit exhibition games this April we were in row 2 of section 115, across the aisle from the Attanasio seats and Brewers on-deck circle. That was much better - no net and a good look at every Brewer who warmed up. For a once-in-a-lifetime (or once in a while) experience, I'd try for that again if it were available. For $10 it was super awesome.
  22. Way to rebound after last weekend, Brewers. Feel free to keep it up.
  23. In the 'strange but true' category, at the family gathering we attended today I described to my 10 year old nephew the circumstances surrounding Prince's two inside-the-park home runs. So of course there's another tonight. Nephew is going to be irked that he went swimming and missed it live.
  24. Worth a pair of consecutive posts: http://www.fangraphs.com/lgraphs/20100806_Astros_Brewers_0_86_lbig_.png audio highlights (while they last)
