  1. You know that adage about a bad day at the ballpark still being better than a good day at the office? That was put to the test, once the 6th inning arrived and the game turned into a pumpkin. Nah, it was probably still better, just pretty muggy; and it seemed like lots of people around us were there to talk about everything except the game, even when the game still held some promise. I happened to be in the restroom when the GS was launched, but the S.O. verifies what you've now already seen via MLB.com highlight. It hit the slide. I guess if the Reds are going to be this successful, they'd better make sure STL doesn't advance instead of them. I took some photos of Prince's last at-bat (in case it was his last at MP as a Brewer), but I just missed the helmet toss and player toss. But the possible last pitch thrown to him was a called strike three.
  2. In defense of...someone, the blurb on Rickie has since been edited to include an "almost" in the made-the-all-star-team bit.
  3. Aw man, now they're batting the pitcher! Edit: I guess this blows my theory of the Brewers' playing at 1.000 with Uecker back in the booth. Well, as Bob said, "Pack this one away and forget about it."
  4. I tip my cap to Joe Inglett. Nice. Maybe they're getting the ya-yas out before we get to the park tomorrow (hawing said hopefully).
  5. No small wonder you're hurt. That's colder than the time CC turned you down.
  6. Well...the win streak seems poised to end with a thud. Does anyone else wish for an actual 25-man roster of 25 playable men, or is it just me?
  7. If someone could set me up with Road Runner wi-fi for Wednesday afternoon, I could post my observations from the park. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gifAlso, I like your approach to tonight's game.
  8. Wow. I had this almost exact fear when the Brewers signed Sabathia in 2008 - that he'd get drilled in his first start and send our hopes and dreams down the drain. Not that the Angels' hopes and dreams are sunk already.
  9. I'm not basing my future happiness on the 2010 Brewers playing beyond October 3, but I would welcome a return to play that more resembles on-field respectability. In that regard, Randy Wolf can be of some help by stepping up, and I'm glad he had success Monday night.
  10. Here are a few more bookseller prices for that title. Let's try not to fight over the $236.86 used copy in Louisiana. Maybe it was sweated upon by Ben Sheets?
  11. It helped that Laynce Nyx ran lyke he was styll a Brewer. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. Wow. I asked Diego to straighten it out in the chat room, and he did. Just wow. Come on, John. No bottom of the 9th...please?
  13. Fairly or not, Bronson Arroyo is always going to be Cornrow Guy to me: http://cache.boston.com/images/bostondirtdogs//Headline_Archives/BA_cr_10.8.jpg
  14. A rehab start would take a few weeks, wouldn't it?
  15. About Rickie Weeks: Fellow poster stalton made an excellent point. Hope he doesn't mind I made it my signature (with credit, of course). Eleven and nine Is now hawing's game record In two thousand ten. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif OK, back to regular prose. I didn't listen to the radio broadcast, but surely Bob must have called it "a beautiful day for baseball," since it was finally nice and comfortable outside. The crowd - at least in our vicinity - wasn't as deeply into the game as I'd prefer (two more beach balls out toward LF), but it was fun to be part of a large crowd again. Brian Anderson made a solid barehanded catch of a foul ball that sailed into the FSWisconsin booth. Nice. Real nice. I could see Bob Uecker's forehead from my seat, and I tried not to turn around to gaze too often, but it was so heartening (maybe I should use a different word) to know he was there. I was OK with Casey erasing the save opportunity since Earl Weaver strategy was involved. I might have been more irked to see Bush at the plate in the 6th, had the bench not been so thin; but this time it didn't backfire. Esco's web gem was terrific and no small relief to those watching in the park. Keep it up, Brewers, for as long as you can.
  16. Thirded, except the state of affairs in 2010 makes me want to specify that I would prefer a blowout that favors the Brewers. As chat room regulars will attest, I was already pondering out loud that maybe Trevor could have gone on Friday night, but now that John has pitched three games in a row (even had they all been successful saves), I think he's due for a break. I'm sure Dave Bush realizes that today would be a particularly ill-timed day for him to have an early meltdown. There just isn't enough healthy bench, and he couldn't come back to pinch-run. As for records...for what it's worth, the 2010 Brewers are 1-0 vs. Washington in Sunday games I attend. Fingers crossed! and I'll hope to see some of you there.
  17. I enjoyed the Family Day bit toward the end. Corey's kids are pretty good at feet-first sliding!
  18. Axford inherits the slimmest lead possible. Come on, John, hang in there (hawing said hopefully).
  19. Oh, Manny, just because jflick is at the game doesn't mean you should implode, even vs. Mr. Home Run. Come on. Edit: That'll do.
  20. Don't be so hard on yourself, razzz. It's an uncommon situation. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif jflick, is this "your" game?
  21. Here is an IGT invitation to join the chat room if you'd like. Despite the "0" that just displayed for me, the room is occupied.
  22. Ah, Rickie, if you could have just gotten on last inning, Inglett's triple would have been a lot more exciting.
