  1. There's always Esperanto. It probably wouldn't take much instruction to make you a global expert.
  2. I'm not really a fan of media being used to rile up a reading/viewing/listening audience (which is a bummer, because that seems to be the goal of most media lately)...but I love that sentence.
  3. Today marks 20 years on the job for me. Plus it's payday!
  4. We are new owners of an iPod touch (8GB - came free with a Macbook purchase). Since the iOS4 update appears to pertain to iPhones and iPod touches with 32 or 64GB capacity, is the update necessary on the 8GB iPod touch?
  5. I think you may be right, and even before today, Villa hasn't helped himself a lot. Sending him down or away doesn't help the looming rotation zim-zam, though.
  6. This must be your game to work? You're the eyes of bf.net for the day, then. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. On the flip side, how does it maximize Doug's chance of success (and I realize that how much of a chance that is, is debatable) to put him in the bullpen, whack out his appearance schedule, and squander whatever stretched-out-ness he's built up? Despite my longtime Sharpie fan status, I am not sold on his being immediately plopped back into a starting rotation that seems to have finally started back toward stability; but having him take up space in the bullpen doesn't seem like a great answer either. This just continues the zim-zam, and (if it plays out as many of us suspect, with Wolf and/or Davis being the weakest links) may provide yet more disappointing evidence that contract status outweighs performance.
  8. Then this guarantees something historic, or at least memorable, will happen during the game, after which we can all lambast TV nation for not broadcasting it. Here's hoping the historic/memorable something will be good for the Brewers. Edit: presumably not a no-hitter for Dave Bush. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  9. Let's keep this thread focused on the JS sports staff. Thanks.
  10. Oh, davego, you survived the weekend. Nice! This game was more fun than the shortage of IGT comments would suggest - though I missed the first two home runs waiting for the club level deli to spend 15 minutes making a cold cut sandwich. (For those of you wondering if the pretzel roll is a worthwhile foundation for a sandwich, it is.) I was right in place in time for my boy Lucroy's blast, though, which was terrific (if not as gasp inspiring as each of Prince's bullets). We can all credit bensheeps' son and his Midas touch for wishing Jonathan luck before the game. The hawing party has grittily battled its way back to an 8-8 record, and the Brewers finally won a game when the nephew was along. Win win. This game included a giveaway of Prince Fielder growth charts to the first 10,000 fans. We now are in possession of very possibly the largest growth chart in the history of growth charts. This thing is 39 1/2 inches wide and a bit more than 6 feet high. It's like a life-sized Prince with large-print height markings. It is magnificent and if I can fit the whole thing in my camera lens, I will post a photo sometime.
  11. Tonight is my nephew's first MLB night game. I'd appreciate it if the Brewers would generate some happy memories. Edit: I'm also looking forward to hanging out with bensheeps and family. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. I'll selfishly hope so, as I'm attending Tuesday and bringing the nephew. At least Buuuud didn't get a decision, either. Well, time to reboot.
  13. The last couple of innings have been cruddy to follow, but it seems early to assume that the Brewers will lose all three games of this series, or that the Brewers will decide that Manny was the biggest problem tonight.
  14. Come pass the time in the chat room, if you'd like. Content seems to load in real-time and everything, which is more than can be said about the forums lately.
  15. I heard BA say to MA something about "maybe you'll be buying" and knew there would be much typing on the internets after that.
  16. You know, my brother and his wife were avid fans of South Park before they became parents. This made me astounded that they named their (now 10 year old) son Kenneth. He goes by his middle name, but still...you named him Kenny?!? But I digress. Sorry, dlk9s and any other Brewer-supporting Kens or Kennys reading this thread. Go Brewers.
  17. When I see the name Bud Norris, I always think of the Cosby Show and Rudy calling that neighbor kid Kenny "Buuud": http://morningbounce.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/youngrudy.jpg http://ll-media.tmz.com/2008/11/06/1106_dat_reveal-1.jpg Come on, Brewers. Go 1-0 for the night vs. Buuud.
  18. Correct. With Ichiro in right, I'm not sure how likely it is, but it'd be fun to see. I had the same thought as crewcrazy, but then what do you know, a triple that landed just outside Ichiro's reach...it was just the wrong batter. On the up side, today was the one day we had RF terrace box seats, so I had a terrific overhead view of the ball spilling out of his glove. Nice day at the ballpark today. I think the key to Narvdog's success might be the one-two fan support of thablingster and me. We just need to get to the rest of his starts. We brought the S.O.'s family, so it was good to have early scoring and sustained success, to keep them interested. I'd been watching for Branyan, but hadn't noticed that he was so close to batting in the 9th. That would have set up a collision of fan crushes for me. Finally, speaking of collisions, I wonder how much Esco has to wave everyone off for GoGo to get the message. I hope he's OK.
  19. It's been happening to me too, the better part of the last week. I thought it might be our new router, but it happens on both home and library computers, Firefox and Safari. Reloading generally solves the problem. (Every time it happens I vow to start a thread about it, but then when the page reloads I get sucked back into the forums.)
  20. Well, for better or worse, phone interviews as a first step are a pretty easy way to cut recruitment/hiring costs.
  21. Kotchman made an appearance today, so they had to watch him at least one more time.
  22. That was pretty much Cory Provus' take on the situation.
  23. The "Branyan headed to Milwaukee" had me doing a double take too. I'll say hello to him for y'all.
  24. That's great! Which pitcher threw it and which batter hit it to you?
  25. Yeah, sounds right. Dean Rosko, technically. On the radio broadcast, Davey spent a painful minute trying to remember the name of his favorite DQ Blizzard mix-in. (It's Butterfinger.)
