  1. The Brewers have a lead. My goodness. If I were at GABP I'd take a photo of the scoreboard just to remind myself what a lead looks like.
  2. At lunch today I had the best brat of the year (to date), from the Memorial Union Brat Stand. I dare say they are better than those at MP. The only thing lacking is secret stadium sauce.
  3. Well, we spent the whole ride to Milwaukee wondering what the problem was. Thanks, WTMJ for the non-sports talk and WSSP for the NBA draft talk. Fortunately our usher clued us in (Hi, Bill, if you're lurking). I'd be scared if I were in Doug's place, but most health problems scare me. In fact, this bit from the JSOnline blog caught my eye: I've learned not to google symptoms for myself because I seem to always see the bad possibilities first; but in Doug's case, maybe it's good he tried Google this time. It's also interesting that he was examined by the same physician who is looking after Uecker. Seriously, Froedtert could change its advertising with the Brewers to three words: "We fixed Uecker." I don't know if pericarditis is a quick-onset thing, or if this could have contributed to Doug's choppy performance to date this year. I guess "treatable" is the best thing about it. Get some rest, Sharpie, and I'll have my jersey ready for your next start!
  4. I hate to say (not to mention assume), but most everything we've discerned about Ken Macha to date would suggest returning Suppan to the rotation if Davis is unable to continue.
  5. He was diagnosed with thyroid cancer while a Diamondback, had his thyroid removed and now takes medication to make up for no thyroid. I don't know enough about it to know how a problem related to thyroid cancer might recur, but it is hard not to think about Doug's recent medical history in light of today's scratch.
  6. So, he's nothing if not consistent?
  7. Maybe the roof will be closed, thus precluding the balls from going into orbit. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gifBut seriously (and since I have even more games to attend yet this year than thablingster), the last time I attended a Bush/Hamels matchup, it turned out better than expected.
  8. Doug was on the DL with Arizona for his thyroid cancer surgery and treatment. I think that may be the only time.
  9. So...maybe I shouldn't even have posted about my jersey. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif And not to call out thablingster, but "could" get ugly? We haven't been at ugly for a while already? Anyway, unless/until one of the more Yuku-savvy staffers can change the photos in the lead post, here are backup photos of tonight's starters-as-of-1:17 PM, CDT: Cole Hamels http://citypaper.net/blogs/sports/files/2009/02/hamelssi.jpg I read somewhere once that it's bad luck to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated. vs. Dave Bush http://alaskan-legacies.com/ablblog/wp-content/uploads/2006/03/bush-david_06-02.jpg Here's hoping I don't have to keep editing the graphics all the way up until we leave for Milwaukee.
  10. I wish I felt confident that scoring 9 runs would avoid the sweep. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif I will attempt to channel the Sharpie-of-old with my 2006 Davis jersey tonight. Pray for mojo!
  11. I look forward to the end of the great Groundhog Day-esque losing streak of 2010. (In this case, "great" does not mean "enjoyable.")
  12. If you scratched the ticket and it was a $$$$ winner, yet you decided not to cash in because you'd have to give up the artifact...then yeah, maybe intervention time. (Note that I have no idea how big the prizes are for lottery games, except for the humongo-jackpots where the news shows people in line to buy tickets.) If you don't intend to scratch the ticket, ever, because then it would no longer be pristine...maybe then, too. Otherwise, nah, not a problem.
  13. It'd be interesting if the Brewers could reward the fans who haven't left yet.
  14. The Brewers so need a jump start. http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:m6AgQPBYFxNdqM:http://koti.mbnet.fi/mupelo/vet.gif I think I'm going to do some yard work -- take things out on weeds instead of any of you.
  15. Hey, Charlie Manuel, I think your team is going to manage enough runs today no matter how accurate that call was. Cory: "Eating your Usinger's, Bob?" Bob: "Ohhhhh, yeah."
  16. Richmond Lockwood Sexson managed. That is quite a 'stache on the ax-man, though.
  17. Bob is talking to Cory and Davey (mostly Cory) on the phone during the 2nd inning of Saturday's game. If you're reading this after the fact, it'll be on Gameday Audio. Cory invited Bob to call a play, but Bob doesn't want his doctors to hear him and break down the door. Bob says not to panic over the team, since it's only May. You heard it from the man.
  18. I have the text and links updated to reflect Joe Blanton's start, but I don't want to mess up the photos, so instead here's a photo of Blanton from his rookie hazing days: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v227/BostonFaninMichigan/joeblantonrookiehazing.jpg
  19. No such luck for us Sunday ticketholders. It's Blanton and I'm working on editing the lead post. Way to get out of the top of the first, Narvdog! I'm sorry it's looking like you have to be the stopper. Ooh ooh - Cory just said that Uecker will be phoning the booth during the second inning. Get your radio or Gameday Audio on!
  20. I get the sense that Randolph would tighten up the defense as well.Isn't that part of Willie's role right now? I'm not trying to be snarky, just wondering.
