  1. To be fair, the Phillies are capable of making a lot of pitchers look like Looper.
  2. On both sides, some guys definitely got 21st-century tailoring in their 70s-looking threads. Prince's jersey looks like a tent. Esco's jersey seems to hang on him too. Randy Wolf's uniform looks more cut for the 1970s.
  3. The Doorman is wearing a Seattle Pilots jersey. It looks terrific. Does anyone else think the M on the Brewers' batting helmets is disproportionately large? It looked that way to me. The M on the regular cap doesn't look as large. And I'm surprised (unless I overlooked it) that I'm the first to make an in-forum crack pondering whether Uncle Jamie is wearing a 2010 version of a retro Phillies uniform...or if it's his original from early in his career. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. Yes, it should. I hope the fans to whom we sold our tickets enjoy the game. The last fans to whom we sold tickets saw the cub beatdown of April 25.
  5. Nuts, I only saw the last minute or two of the presser (which just ended). Uecker still sounds raspy to me, but then again, dude just had a lot done on him. I did catch a bit where he said he's already walking two miles per day. Super-Ueck. It's just good to see/hear him.
  6. Excellent choice of library. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I hope the staff were courteous and efficient.
  7. I just found out that one of my high school classmates has a fairly high-ranking position in the current president's administration. Huh.
  8. You might be heartened to know that when Madison's WISC-TV reported this story Thursday night, the clip they showed of Ned was a 360 F-bomb. (I truly believe the channel 3 sports staff dislikes the Brewers, but that's another topic.) How awesome would it be if Ned could get the Royals to take Soup? After all, who is more familiar with how "great" he can "pitch"? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. Capuano pitched eight scoreless innings I know...small sample, MiLB opponent...but the phrase I italicized above has me almost drooling. Stay well, Chris!
  10. I was wondering where that would pop up on the forum. Doesn't Macha seem like about the least likely person to dig rollercoasters? Dang it, now I'm the most boring person in the world.
  11. The line between "talk" and "news" on 620WTMJ has been blurry for a while now, hasn't it? Not saying that doesn't make it bug-worthy.
  12. In the superstition department, the Braves may have written themselves a ticket to a tailspin when the coaching staff donned sweep suits for their flight back to Atlanta. This comes too late to help the Brewers, of course, and any hit to their karma that results will probably be all resolved by July 15.
  13. So, two weeks from Monday. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gifThe "terrifying lows" thus far this season are hard to watch/attend/follow, and after series like the just-completed one with the Braves, part of me would frankly not mind seeing big changes ahead - if only to reduce the number of gut-punch and otherwise crappy games, or to make us feel like "something" is being done. I just don't know what a big change or series of big changes would really accomplish. We know the mid-season managerial change helped in 1982 and didn't in 2002; but the 2010 Brewers are neither as good as the '82 squad nor as all-around bad as the souls of 2002. Unless the Brewers break out of their rut enough to return to the playoffs, I can't imagine Ken Macha being here by 2011. If the current terrifying lows continue, I would not be surprised (or necessarily disappointed) if he were gone before October 2010. I suppose the same might hold for Melvin, though I don't know if I would want to rush to fill the GM opening with whoever is available mid-season.
  14. It bugs me that upon reading this part of the post above, I had to look at the date stamp to see if thablingster was talking about Monday night's drubbing or Tuesday night's drubbing.
  15. Yeah, this happened to me in the last two threads in which I participated last night. I found the unsubscribe option and utilized it, but still got two messages after. I didn't get new ones overnight, but maybe there hasn't been activity in either thread.
  16. I recently finished a new book, Letters to Jackie: Condolences from a Grieving Nation. It's simply a sampling of the over 1.5 million condolence letters Mrs. Kennedy received from around the world in the two years following JFK's assassination. It's usually nearly impossible to mention Kennedys without getting into politics, but few of the sampled letters are political; most are simply condolences. 1963 predates me by a few years, but this book gave me a better idea than I'd ever had before of what the nation- and worldwide grieving was like. I also found it fascinating how closely (almost creepily so) some identified with the Kennedys. People wrote to Jackie inviting her to visit if she was ever in their town, or asking for a memento to remember the former first couple by. One guy asked for one of JFK's suits. Hmmm. OK.
  17. The game you speak of, pitch, was the Brewers' 82nd win of the 2007 season. They also won the Sunday game of that series, ending the '07 campaign with an 83-79 record.
  18. This series is playing like a broken record. Here's a definition for anyone who only knows CDs and mp3s.
  19. thablingster has a point. Our eventual exit from the park was possibly the quickest ever, coming from the terrace. Usually it's already slow heading down the stairs from terrace to loge, then really slows down as loge people feed into the stairwell. There was no slowdown last night.
  20. I've commented before on trivia contest atrocities, but tonight the off-field atrocity was "Guess the Attendance." Here is what I wrote on the back of my ticket stub, for posterity: The "answer" was 30,678, which I think translated into around 10,000 no-shows. It was so empty that for about the last hour of the game, we were the only fans in our section - not just the terrace box, but also the terrace reserved section behind us. By that time, we could hear Cory's radio call echoing from the terrace concourse. It had a creepy 2003 vibe. And that doesn't even include the on-field results! It's sad that Dave Bush arguably had the most competent outing of the Brewers' pitchers tonight, yet got the loss. Rather than comment further, I'll just say that the Brewers are lucky to have me as a fan, and while I would like to get a fruit basket from them in exchange for staying the whole 3:31, I would settle for a piece of fruit, or some acknowledgement of my fan effort. It would be nice if our ticket rep were reading this.
  21. It's classy to be unclassy, if you've earned the right to be unclassy. Anyone who doesn't understand that is flat out not classy. (I labored over whether to put that in blue. I chose the darkest shade.)
  22. Even if it means tonight is ugly, I'd rather see a few "JV" lineups than to have Ryan push himself and risk bigger elbow trouble. Psst, Brewers: This doesn't mean you have the green light to be ugly tonight. I'm still coming.
