  1. The indoor kid areas I'm aware of are in the RF corner of the field level and home plate-ish area of the terrace. (Our childless household refers to the terrace play area as a kid Habitrail.) I have to admit I don't know how good a match the available activities are for someone who's blind. I believe the field level play area still has the huge glove in which people sit for photos. That would be hands-on for sure. The big fiberglass Bernie statue (situated on a bench for photo ops) was moved to the center of the loge level, kind of behind the press box, for this season. That's sort of hands-on. There used to be fiberglass sausage statues near the RF corner of the field level; with the remodeling done last off-season, I don't know if that's still the case. The mascots (humans in costumes) are in the concourses at particular times and they are always posing for photos with fans. When you arrive, you might ask at Guest Relations for further suggestions. There are booths on the field, loge and terrace levels, and the staff there have a wealth of information, some of it game-specific (for example, on a low attendance day, they know which concession stands are open vs closed). Honestly, it's probably worth contacting the Brewers in advance. Their Miller Park A to Z guide encourages fans to "let us know how we can help you enjoy your game experience. Please call Guest Relations at (414) 902-4900." So take them up on that! Congratulations on the adoption, in any case!

  3. It looked to me like he overran it. Padres announcers say it was a catchable ball and it was. I think everyone in the stadium was surprised when it went out. This clinches the season series - I like the Padres but this is the one besides the Cardinals that's best to get for me. I thought it was going to be caught, then it almost looked to me (live) like it went off a fielder's glove. I've since watched the replay enough to see otherwise, but I agree it was robb-able. Still, I'm glad it wasn't.
  4. There won't be lineups for a while, but I'll be on the road by the time there are. Intriguing matchup, provided neither starter changes. The Brewers' present vs. could-have-been. 6. I just had a terrible vision of STL signing Feliz and immediately transforming him into a lights-out reliever again. Shudder.
  7. That was nice of Counsell to keep Jesus Aguilar out of the field tonight, thus reducing the chance of horrible flashbacks for Garza.

  9. Here is Todd Rosiak's JS writeup on the situation with young Ryann Shaw: http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2017/06/13/travis-shaw-returns-brewers-after-daughters-open-heart-surgery/391441001/ Imagine the good fortune of having your job moved to a community with a leading children's hospital just before you're in need of such care.

  11. There were two other reasons for making the hire: 1. Guy is legitimately qualified for the work 2. He was the only applicant. It's my lesson-in-tolerance period. Plus at least he hates the Cubs.
  12. I believe this is the first MIL-STL weekday game since I hired a STL-fan* student employee back in September. If I get through the afternoon without wanting to bite his head off, it'll be a personal win. *Why would I hire someone who is deeply into the Cardinals? Because that would be an illegal reason to deny someone employment.
  13. Todd Rosiak's Twitter in the last few minutes states that Travis' daughter Ryann was born with HLHS, a heart defect, and needed open heart surgery on Friday. She is doing well. The Shaws were aware of the defect in January, so at least maybe they knew it was a possibility (which to me seems slightly preferable to being completely blindsided, but I can't speak for anyone else). Continued best wishes to Ryann and her parents.

  19. With apologies for the TMI: I finished my evening shower last night during the top of the 9th. I listened to a bit of Uecker and could tell who was pitching before he even said the name. Longtime readers here know I'm relatively upbeat and hopeful when it comes to the Brewers, and it takes some doing to turn me against a player. Yet here we are with Neftali. I get that the 2017 Brewers aren't supposed to be a true frontrunner, and I get the value of maximizing the eventual careers of (in this case pitching) prospects. But I can't believe there's no decent alternative to continuing to let Feliz wreck games one way or another. He wasn't the garbage-time pitcher last night - he made the game into garbage time! The Brewers' relative success thus far (however unexpected) has resulted in more interest from fans, yet they threaten to negate that bonus good will with such an inconsistent relief corps.

  21. No lineups are likely to be posted before we have to leave for Milwaukee, so if someone could fill them in, that'd be swell.
