  1. For the third straight year, I've come out of our Christmas trip to Kenosha with an upper respiratory piece of crap.
  2. The flags bear a SSH logo in the corner, so it's a custom job.
  3. Season seat holders are getting a full sized flag from the Brewers for Christmas and the current-style M is large, front and center. So they're not abandoning that logo completely.
  4. Zsa Zsa Gabor died on Sunday. She'd had so many health crises in recent years that my first thought was surprise that she hadn't passed previously. In case you're not keeping close track of the Gabor sisters, Zsa Zsa was best known for being married a jillion times and being a guest star everywhere. Her sister Eva was the "GOODBYE CITY LIFE" voice of Green Acres. The third Gabor sister was Magda. http://abcnews.go.com/images/Entertainment/ap_zsa_zsa_gabor_soap_opera_jef_ss_130322_ssh.jpg
  5. I suppose someone had to fill the DBK (Designated Brewer Killer) spot on the STL roster?
  6. I don't know that it was THE BEST game of 2016, but on June 12 (Sunday game vs Mets), we had no fewer than three foul balls come to our seats in front of the press box, two of which my SO caught. The latter catch was a Cespedes foul that I'm pretty sure was headed straight for my face, and my 10 year old nephew swears he saw us on camera for that one. We don't have MLB TV so I can't verify this. I do have access to the Gameday audio archives and Tom's catch was good enough to make Bob Uecker say "Hey, nice catch!" If you decide to look, let me know if we turn up. I'm 99% certain it was the 8th inning. If you see someone catching the Cespedes foul, it's my SO and I'm sitting on his left. I vaguely remember a cameraman being in the vicinity, but I thought it was the in-house guy who captures stuff for the videoboard and not connected to FSWI. It was a career day for us in the foul ball department, for sure.
  7. If a Bandy-Susac platoon happens, I nominate JettSac as the name for it.
  8. Right?! I could see a student being scared or just not caring enough to own up, but how did the counselor not do the grownup thing to begin with?
  9. I for one was just glad they're in bowl game that has been around longer than I have. Unlike, say, the Dollar General or Beef O'Brady's bowl games.
  10. It doesn't completely outweigh the value of giving to those in need...but it's not a good look.
  11. Man, this year. Though I suppose as baby boomers start to approach "tv treasure" status, we should expect more such losses for a while.
  12. Sorry to be That Guy, but my job all but requires me to notify you that the polka is already Wisconsin's state dance, officially deemed as such in 1993. Link to all of Wisconsin's state symbols, from your state historical society
  13. We attended the town hall "Inside The Brewers" event last night. On the drive to Milwaukee, I pondered how much it would suck if a group of cub fans showed up just to be all WOOOO CUBBIEEEEEES CHAMPPPPPPS - but I dismissed it as the kind of irrational worry that's not worth spending brain cells on. Then a guy turns up in the fan question line in a cubs cap and jacket. He said he's a Brewers SSH and had a legit question about the Brewers. But COME ON. That's why a lot of us don't like that fanbase. Well, one reason why.
  14. Ya, last time that happened they moved it. They won't do it this way, but part of me would love it if they simply made the last home game (Thursday 9/28/17 vs CIN) fan appreciation night. It would be a nice tribute to the fans who show up for more than just opening day and that one Saturday night opportunity to win a car.
  15. So everyone else can join our bandwagon. I mean, in my mind they've been insufferable for a while. I feel for the Cleveland fans who actually hung on to their tickets and had to sit through a CHC celebration. We know too well what it's like to feel like the minority in our home park.
  16. Welp...if they're no longer losers, they'll become less lovable, by those outside their core fanbase, at least. That's all I've got. What an absolutely epic game, though.
  17. I've had a "Congrats, see you in 2124" tweet composed in my head all month. Tonight could be the night. Or maybe not.
  18. There's still ample room for heartbreak, though. A Game 7 maximizes the potential for that.
  19. I'm reading this thread to the SO, and he suggested a Wrigley Field problem that requires moving the CHC home games to Miller Park. THEN they can be no-hit or replayed out or whatever. And ideally, Brewers fans would get first crack at tickets. Tom's other idea was that as the last game is about to end, the lights go on in Bob Newhart's apartment and we hear Bob telling Suzanne Pleshette what a crazy dream he had.
  20. Something replay-related has my vote - although I'm not as bent on cub humiliation as others here. I wonder if "New York" would actually have the nerve to make such a high-leverage reversal. Talk about a new scapegoat. Whoever's in that replay booth would have to enter the witness protection program, possibly before leaving the booth that night.
  21. What do you mean by "select games through three different groups"? I'm just curious. We switched from the fan's choice a while ago, so I haven't followed how it works since.
  22. Yeah, I think with the "final four" set, I'm likely to be rooting AL by the World Series round.
  23. On the up side, a SF-less NLCS probably won't have as many camera operators dwelling on Hunter Pence's hair. Talk about a mad scientist.
  24. And season seat holders get 25% off most concessions on select games. In 2016 there were 25 such home dates, more than last year and including some weekend games and Cubs games. (Aside: being able to walk past the lined up hordes of cub fans for early entry was satisfying this year.)
  25. Yeah, but even in lower-attendance years like 2016, that still leaves thousands of fans who do choose to buy ballpark fare. Considering how often some businesses renovate, making these changes to the concession stands after 16 years doesn't seem as crazy. Maybe they will sell the old signage (Thirst Base! Catch-a-Torres! MVPizza! etc) at a clubhouse sale. What food and drink they sell, and for how much, won't change my household's pattern of attending games, but we go for the games first. If it sparks new or increased interest among more casual fans...their money counts toward the bottom line too.
