  1. All of these voicemails from politicians The election call that bugged (or maybe just puzzled) me most was at 7:55 PM on election night 2004. This was a recording from the Rev. Jesse Jackson reminding me that my polling place closed at 8:00 PM. How effective could that be? sending out the call that late? "D'oh! I somehow disregarded the umpteen other phone messages I got today and have just now remembered there's an election! I'm going to run full blast to my polling place right now. Thanks, Reverend!" At the time I lived about a five minute dash from my polling place (but I had already voted). If I get a call that late on Tuesday I'll be out of luck.
  2. My guess is Wednesday at 1:15 PM. If you meant Wednesday of this week, /buzzer sound/. I'm looking at this as an opportunity for us central types to live like we're Eastern time zone people. Mass Haas must finally feel right at home. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Either that, or it's like pretending to be Indiana.
  3. It bugs me that every cold I catch goes straight to my larynx, rendering me unable to speak for a while. The longest I have gone without an audible voice is four days - that was about 5-6 years ago. This time it was more like 2 1/2 days. Then I get an ugly cough that takes a couple of weeks to go away. So just as I'm feeling relatively better, I sound ugly and everyone who hears me says, "boy, you sound terrible." (For the record, I'm not seeking antibiotics for this; and I go out of my way to buy non-anti-bacterial hand soap.)
  4. Nuts. Well, it was nice contemplating having you guys over here for a few months. And now you don't have to sell your house. (Does this reduce the chance of the 2007 winter meeting being sited in Madison?)
  5. I guess it was lucky the Brewers weren't in the postseason this year. Imagine if Sunday had been our game 7.
  6. Congrats to RedBird Ray. Indeed. I was thinking of him too.
  7. Allright! Time to start the offseason and Milwaukee's road to the 2007 World Series. I'm with Peavey on this. 1957: World Series championship in Milwaukee. 1982 (25 years later): AL championship in Milwaukee. Add another 25 years and you have 2007.
  8. This is not reducing my long-held ill will for STL and Cardinal Nation.
  9. AmbaG would probably come looking for me. Gah! Flashbacks! Nooooo! Actually, I think we all owe Prince of Roy a debt of gratitude. Look at how that poster has brought this online community back together.
  10. also gave a game used Doug Davis autographed batting glove to hawing Yeah, now that Jason's brought it up I'll give him public (or at least forum-wide) props. That glove is swell. It gives me the strength to get through the anti-Sharpie posts (not saying you guys aren't entitled to them). Thanks for not catching a Doug Davis cup after the last game, 'cause that would be too far for me. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. You forgot some, MSC: "We can't win without spending lots of money." "Fire the Seligs" I was thinking of having a troll amnesty day. That could be amusing. Do you suppose the banned trolls monitor the site all the time? perhaps dreaming of an amnesty day? Even the ones who were banned years ago? Because that would really smack of loserness. (Worse than the rest of us.)
  12. So, did the value of the Daron and Bill bobbleheads spike or plummet in the last 24 hours?
  13. Pretty much - though I thought the author of that declaration was no longer a current poster, and litesrn is still on the scene. I'm guessing early to mid 2005 season?
  14. It'd been a while since "Worse site ever" anyway. Oh, now I wish Jamie could find his digital camera. He's got the rare bf.net T-shirt with the "Worst site" statement on the back. We need a picture!
  15. Brewerfan-dot-net You are all losers because Prince of Roy said so.
  16. TLR has never been shy about accusing ppl of cheating and having bats/gloves/hats etc inspected. When I first turned on the game (a bit late) and heard "pine tar" I frankly assumed Tony had already complained.
  17. Wow, Tigers are on the verge of imploding here. ...but they held it together. That was kind of Breweresque. Good thing for FOX, as I would have stopped watching the WS had St. Louis come back. (And I know FOX is quaking in its shoes to hear that.)
  18. Oh, I'll join in. You know this means you don't just hate a bunch of guys, but also some women. Also at least two cats. (They offer moral support to the site.) I'd say it's nice knowing you, but I don't really know you; and what you've given me to go on doesn't really help.
  19. In my "happy place", the Brewers hit Anthony Reyes early and often, and he lasts but 2/3 of an inning. Oh, wait - that really happened, less than three weeks ago. (This is the longest off-season ever.)
  20. However, I gotta admit that St.Louis winning game one would be huge for them and I think it gives them the World Series. Well, compared to 2004, even one win would be an accomplishment for the darlings of Cardinal Nation. (Jamie, if you really prefer to see Detroit win, I expect some classic brewerjamie reverse-psych trash talk. Look how it worked for BOS, back when they still warranted a bit of sympathy.)
  21. I was already expecting to wince at the sight of Ronnie Belliard in the World Series...but gah, that 'fro. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/sick.gif And if I heard correctly, Tim McCarver declared that "revenue sharing is working" because different teams have been WS winners for seven seasons now.
  22. So, STL is now on the verge of its 90th win of the year. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif If it turns out this way, I admit, I'll be grimly satisfied that it's another no-coast WS. But my hatred for the Cardinals is so great that I actually found myself feeling sorry for the Mets fans FOX keeps showing in the audience. Ronnie Belliard in a World Series. Try to think about that. Does. Not. Compute.
  23. So, I see all STL has to do is win one on the road, and they get two chances. I know it's only the NLCS, but that sounds a lot like the last postseason series I really, really, really cared about. Go Mets. Or more specifically, go Tigers starting Saturday.
  24. I would rather have Joe Winklesas. Ooh, ouch.
  25. For some reason he never got much love on message boards. Or elsewhere. A former employee of mine sent me the text of an obituary for an avid Cardinals fan who died the day after STL traded Ray King. The obit indicated that "she was glad to see Ray King traded." That said, I'm open to the majority of bullpen proposals that don't include Dan Kolb. I don't get a strong "fool me twice, shame on me" vibe when I ponder the possibility of Ray King wearing a Brewers uniform again. Plus I've always been entertained by watching Ray sprint out of the bullpen toward the mound (wherever he's played).
