  1. May I just say how pleased I am that no one here is bothering to comment on Game 4 of the NLCS? (though Ronnie Belliard did have a costly error. Hah.)
  2. AJAY beat me to it. I'm extremely jealous. Why not Milwaukee?
  3. I'd certainly think throat lozenge sales would increase dramatically in the greater Milwaukee metroplex I alone might buy up Culver's Lemon Ice supply. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. May I just say that if/when (your choice) the Brewers reach a post-season again...let's please not be wielding foam noodles that look like pool toys.
  5. At least Detroit has made it possible for me to have someone to root for in the WS. Had NYY faced either STL or NYM, the season would at that point be dead to me.
  6. Woo-hoo, Cardinals advance. I'm full of joy. And now pretty much rooting for the AL from here on out.
  7. Russell, you're my Mr. October.
  8. You know the Yankees are so desperate for pitching help they may be willing to trade A-Rod and $10 million for Turnbow. Psst, Doug! Call Steinbrenner tonight, while he's still in shock.
  9. We heard the end of the Yankees loss on the radio and at first I was glad...then, upon hearing the celebration in Detroit, I was jealous. But buh-bye to the Yanks as they start their off season!
  10. The PA voice on the Madison Metro buses drives me nuts. That's where we differ (respectfully, of course). I like the bus voice. It sounds soothing, on the routes I take at least. The main route I take has been detoured for seven weeks and the detoured stops lack the voice. I actually have to look out the window to see how close my stop is. That's been bugging me. Also, the detour was supposed to last two weeks (somehow they thought they could rebuild an intersection in two weeks); and they started a day early, which meant we didn't know about the detour until after it began. That bugged me. It's supposed to end on Monday, though. If it's pushed back again, that will bug me. people who drive Dodge Neons and "pimp" or "trick" them out..first of all, your car isn't cool On a Friday afternoon when I'm already a bit logy, this is hilarious.
  11. Jamie, you're always saying stuff like that.
  12. Branyan with the 3B I knew there was a reason Russell Branyan was "Mr. October" on my Brewers' 2006 wall calendar. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  13. I was just eating lunch at Memorial Union (at UW-Madison) and upon seeing more than the usual number of people wearing Twins swag...got rather jealous. I want a turn! Sorry, that's kind of veering off topic.
  14. it seemed to really explode in 2003. Well, that's when I joined. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  15. the off-topic forum still has plenty of material Indeed. I continue to be surprised at how often I find out about a non-Brewers (even non-baseball) topic on Brewerfan. From celebrity RIPs to Friday's dreadful school shooting, I too can often say, "yeah, I read that on Brewerfan.net." (And I don't even add "of all places" anymore.)
  16. To be honest, a decrease in wins of only 6 is almost miraculous. I've got to agree. It's only a bummer when you realize that the NL Central was won with 83 wins. Man alive.
  17. 75-87. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif
  18. Is anyone else really depressed that Brewers Baseball is a few outs away from being done for another 6 months? I don't know about "really depressed" but I am bummed today, despite CV's (largely) positive outing.
  19. With the Brewers' season waning, I thought I would take the time to thank everyone who has made bf.net such an entertaining (and, most of the time, pleasant) online community this year. Not just Brian and other staff/moderators, but everyone who has contributed to forums, articles and events. I've spent more time on the site this past year than I did the previous 2 1/2 combined! and with few exceptions have enjoyed it all. I really appreciate having an outlet for my Brewers interest, especially a high quality one like this. ( I suspect the people in my life who aren't such ardent baseball fans appreciate my having this outlet too. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ) This doesn't mean I'm going away in the off season, but I know participation will drop off soon. So thanks; don't be total strangers, you guys; and I'll hope to see some of you at the bf.net winter meeting.
  20. If STL must advance, I'd rather it be because of Houston's loss than ours. A technicality, but one that's important to me.
  21. Ouch for CV. BUt he's showing that gritty battler side.
  22. Foxsports is reporting that Anthony Reyes will start today As is brewers.com now. I've edited the starting post accordingly. Thanks, Tony L. Make my season-ending IGT starter post inaccurate. Just another reason for me not to like him! EDIT: As I looked at the MLB standings today, it finally, really hit me that 85-86 wins will be enough to clinch the NL Central this year. Man oh man.
  23. The Brewers make their only October appearance today as they try for win number 75. Carlos Villanueva (1-2, 3.97) hopes to further build his case for making the 2007 starting rotation. Anthony Reyes (5-7, 4.68 ) and the St. Louis Cardinals have a shorter-term goal in mind today, as a STL win or HOU loss clinches the NL Central championship for the home team. Reyes, who will be working on three days' rest, gets the nod in a late decision over Chris Carpenter, whom the Redbirds are saving for either the playoffs or other possible division-clinching needs. Come on, Brewers. Let's not have a loss greeting us on the bf.net home page for the next (sigh) six months. Edited to reflect the change in starting pitcher.
  24. My personal, 24-year-old feud with the Cardinals franchise is back to being fully stoked.
  25. Ah, 'Rillo, I'm going to miss you so - whenever you're no longer with the Brewers. Come on, Bullpen! I wish I could say that with conviction.
