  1. I just had a bad vision of the speedy Jose "exactly 1.0 Altuves" Altuve scoring the winning run. That has more to do with his speediness and pluckiness than any particular lack of faith in Jim Henderson. (Though you never know when it will be Jim's turn in Reliever Roulette.)
  2. Jason Marquis didn't give up a hit to PIT until the 7th tonight (he's now with SD). That's the same dude who gave up a grand slam to Craig Counsell in 2010 (with WAS), and who didn't last to the 3rd vs. Milwaukee back in May (with MIN).
  3. On the twitters I've been calling it #RelieverRoulette.
  4. So every open checkout line at Woodman's today was full and fairly slow moving. Two women ahead of the line we chose noticed the S.O. looking around to see if any other line was worth moving to. One of them pretty much laughed at him, saying that people really need to try shopping on a weekday if they can, or at least earlier on a weekend day. True enough, but why act like you know more about when to shop when you're waiting in the same line? I reserve the right to move this to the What's Bugging You? thread later if I so choose.
  5. Well, he seems to be occupying space in the bullpen more than anything else. But why he's still on the roster is a valid question. I'd also like to know why Parra's soreness or impingement or whatever warranted essentially a 24-man roster (unless Livan counts as two) more than a DL stint.
  6. Someone tweeted the other day that the Astros are the only team left in MLB without a walkoff win in 2012. That made me worry.
  7. Last week, on July 31, we saw a Halloween Express in a strip mall along Blue Mound Road.
  8. Based on some Twitter activity from late morning, I think at least one version of the lineup with Morgan's name in it may have got around. I don't know if that is an error or a late scratch.
  9. Ugh, the bazillionth reason why I strive to avoid talk radio, even on a sports topic that interests me. We tolerated a few minutes of the TMJ postgame show last night just to hear some of the highlights again. Tuesday's game was in the Sunday Plus 20-pack, a package we've had since 2008. This is the package that brings in the bobblehead enthusiasts and what I sometimes call the ADHD crowd (at least in our section - people can't stay put and pick the weirdest in-game times to move around in front of us. Apologies to persons who are ADHD diagnosed). The fans around us were into this game in a way that I rarely see from our Sunday Plus seats. It was nice.
  10. Not saying I mind in the least, but I'm still trying to figure out what drew 41000+ to the park on a Tuesday in an "out of the race" situation. I tip my cap not only to Mike Fiers and the Brewers, but to tonight's crowd for staying engaged most of the night. (Less love to the folks in 218 who thought, "Let's start the wave!" Also no love to the dude across the aisle from me sporting a Phillips shirsey and Reds flipflops who seemed to think he was the expert on Ryan Braun's substance history.) TEHFIERS. Wow.
  11. One of the most memorable and famous games in Brewers history. This video will sum it up for you. It's one of those games where all Brewer fans remember where they were when it happened. To back PEM up, I know where I was when this happened: on the back porch at my mother's house (home from college because it was Easter weekend), jumping up and down like a goofball. As I've said elsewhere on this forum, I then thought to pop a cassette tape in my brother's Radio Shack stereo, in order to record the highlights from Pat Hughes' 10th inning show. I've got that memorized. Every time I see these video highlights, I chuckle when they show the four young shirtless men in the bleachers. How awesome would it be if those guys could be tracked down and reunited in the bleachers for a game?
  12. I don't know. That GIF shows Yuni actually reaching for the ball. A more classic GIF would show him jogging a few steps in the general direction of the ball, and watching it roll past him. He scored one of the runs in that NLDS game 5. That was his offensive peak. And he was part of that unlikely double play last May or so. That was his defensive peak.
  13. pretendastronaut's weekend absence continues; thus so do my fairly weak but well intentioned IGT lead posts. Tonight's game features throwback uniforms to the 1982 World Series. Decide for yourself whether that's good news or bad. Less classy but more lovable team: CF Carlos Gomez RF Nyjer Morgan LF Ryan Braun 1B Corey Hart 2B Rickie Weeks C Jonathan Lucroy SS Cesar Izturis 3B Cody Ransom RHP Mark Rogers Apparently Everything Good About The Game: SS Rafael Furcal 1B Allen Craig LF Matt Holliday RF Carlos Beltran 3B David Freese C Yadier Molina CF Jon Jay 2B Daniel Descalso RHP Adam Wainwright
  14. At some point, Zack's going to realize he really had a wonderful life with the Brewers.
  15. I can't say I expected to see even a chance at a Cesar Crush this early in the game.
  16. Sorry, folks. The stellar graphics of pretendastronaut are not available tonight. Here are the lineups, though: Your Milwaukee Brewers RF Norichika Aoki CF Carlos Gomez LF Ryan Braun 1B Corey Hart 2B Rickie Weeks C Martin Maldonado 3B Cody Ransom SS Cesar Izturis LHP Randy Wolf Their Opponents SS Rafael Furcal 1B Allen Craig LF Matt Holliday RF Carlos Beltran 3B David Freese C Yadier Molina 2B Daniel Descalso CF Shane Robinson RHP Joe Kelly Aramis is out tonight and perhaps for a few days more after receiving a cortisone shot in his ailing wrist. My shirt is untucked already. How about yours?
  17. Yeah, I remember that location from the last (first) time you and I crossed paths at MP. That was also a win over the 'Stros. Well, I must have walked behind you several times Tuesday night.
  18. I installed it on my phone tonight and in a very small sample am pleased with the small amount of navigation I did. If you see more IGT posts from me on Monday or Tuesday 8/6 or 8/7, you'll know why.
  19. So. Any diehard McGehee fans going to pony up for a McGehee NYY shirsey? Part of me hopes someone will buy one, though that someone will not be me.
  20. I missed that part of today's audio, but it sounds like it's worth digging into the Gameday archive.
  21. I'm bummed that I didn't know owbc was in the house, as I suspect he didn't sit far from the hawing party at all. But this game was such a soothing respite from all the crap we've absorbed this year - both on-field performance and weather. I was grateful for it.
  22. I was only able to catch bits and pieces via Gameday Audio, but watched a lot of the replay. I'd have booed Franci$co Cordero if I'd been there to see him plunk Ryan. One of the times I was able to look at Gameday was during that 14-pitch AB by Ryan. Man oh man. Most if not all of the kids Uecker has hosted in his booth have been make-a-wish kids. I missed today's kid visit but I've heard some of the others over time. That's Bob at his best.
