Well, I've been working on this "thirty pitches of terror" nickname for K-Rod, but tonight he only needed eight to dash hopes. There was a nice turnout of Brewers fans, even one with a Branyan shirsey; and the guys behind us from Ashwaubenon didn't start insulting us when they found out we're librarians. The public address audio was out for part of the early innings, which was interesting. The Royals' knockoff mascot race is extremely lame (all hot dogs, with Ketchup, Mustard and Relish to distinguish them on the videoboard). When the audio was working, the announcer kept saying "MAR-tin" Maldonado instead of "Mar-TEEN," and he completely avoided the whole Norichika thing by just saying Nori Aoki. I miss the hot-hitting version of George Kottaras. I also would have given Martin a chance to bat in the 9th, as being effective with two runners on appears to be his specialty. I do enjoy watching Zack pitch, though, apparently enough to travel states away to see it in person. Ryan got more cheers than boos where we were sitting, though late in the game there was one guy who angrily shouted JUICER, just once. Not sure where his anger was the first few at-bats.
