  1. I was telling kalle8 about this during Tuesday's game. Rock's MLB career started in 1983, when I was a teenager and still maintaining a (mostly very dull) diary, and I noted the triple in my diary. Yes. So, that one Cubs reliever at one point in the 'big' inning had thrown 18 pitches and only 4 for strikes. My goodness. On the up side, the Kalle party has clinched a "winning" homestand. If only the Brewers had maintained that pace all along.
  2. /lunging frantically to knock on all wood within reach/ I got this text from kalle8 after the Brewers' big inning: I am in 230 in the middle of a bunch of cubs fans. don't know why there is now a quiet there wasn't before. some are leaving. ahhhhh
  3. Not only that...they set the roof closing to music each time! O, the memories. The weirdest thing about today's rain was that we avoided it in row 8 of section 217. Across the aisle from me (i.e. row 8, section 218) people were wet. Two rows in front of us got wet. But not us. I have no idea how that came about. When the roof is open and we look up, we see sky. As it turned out, we got plenty wet during the postgame shower.
  4. Plus the weird - a rain delay. He also has yet to see a Brewer-blown save, though there's still time for that.
  5. MLB Trade Rumors and other sources are saying that the Astros dismissed Brad Mills tonight. Seriously, why tonight? Someone in the front office had August 19 in the firing pool and wanted to make sure they won?
  6. You guys, I'm starting to feel like the Brewerfan operator. I also feel like I'm missing the biggest social day of the Brewers' season. Hope the tailgate is going well; may the game be even better!
  7. Hey, the Brewers are now 2-0 lifetime when kalle8 is in attendance. Where have you been all this time?!?
  8. I think 9th inning relief drama gets you pretty close. Plus you have at least six more chances to witness a blown save. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of multiple blown saves in a single game - not this year, not this team.
  9. Heh. So, you guys, this was kalle8's first visit to Miller Park and first chance to see the Brewers live and in person. You'll note he had a chance to experience most of the emotional roller coaster that has made up the 2012 season, all in one game. No "blown save" emotion yet, but he's got six more games to take in. The S.O. and I had a great time with Kalle and Rosanna. I know they enjoyed it too. Thanks, Corey.
  10. I did think of something encouraging to say to Giants fans. You'll have Guillermo Mota back from his suspension next month. Take heart!
  11. Just saw that post, looked back at Gameday, saw the bases loaded and "in play, run(s)"...and was actually slightly relieved when it was "only" a two-RBI single.
  12. A few early links: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/dailypitch/post/2012/08/melky-cabrera-giants-50-game-suspension-testosterone/1#.UCvyH6Cs2Sp (USAToday.com) http://blogs.mercurynews.com/giants/2012/08/15/breaking-melky-cabrera-suspended-50-games-will-miss-rest-of-regular-season/ (San Jose Mercury News Giants blog) In light of the classic maternal admonition to not say anything at all if you can't say anything nice...I'm done with this post. (Crew2323 has a point, though.)
  13. I'll tweet it to Joe Block. (Edit: Hah. Get it? Tweet?)
  14. Ah, dead, squished frogs. That takes me back to junior high and high school, when we lived near this pond in Monroe that had a lot of frogs and was surrounded by a neighborhood with thoughtless drivers. Hence there were always wee, tiny frog pancakes on the streets in our subdivision.
  15. I'm bumping this to point interested (and not stalky) bf.netters to a list of Kalle and Rosanna's seat locations for the seven games they are attending from the 16th to the 22nd of August: http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?f=151&t=28788 I put it in the private off-topic forum so that if anything goes wrong, every member is a suspect.
  16. http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?f=151&t=28788 This thread in the Off-Topic Private forum lists Kalle's seat location for each game in the Phillies/Cubs homestand. (This way, if someone stalks him, we know it's a member. ) If you're attending any of the Phillies or Cubs games and want to give our own kalle8 a Brewerfan shoutout, check out the thread so you can stop by and say hi to Kalle and his bride Rosanna.
  17. If you're attending any games in the Brewers' 16-22 August homestand (Phillies and Cubs), Italy's and Brewerfan's own kalle8 will be at each and every game with his bride Rosanna. Here is the seat location for each game, should you want to say hi: Thursday, 16 August : section 323, row 5, seats 5-6 (Bonus: you can meet the hawing party at this section Thursday. I know you're all beside yourselves at the thought.) Friday, 17 August : section 110, row 3, seats 1-2 Saturday, 18 August : section 204, row 2, seats 26-27 (Remember also the pregame tailgate organized by TooLiveBrew) Sunday, 19 August : section 226, row 6, seats 11-12 Monday, 20 August : section 426, row 1, seats 18-19 Tuesday, 21 August : section 108, row 19, seats 1-2 Wednesday, 22 August : section 208, row 2, seats 1-2 Kalle, if you see this and I got any locations wrong, let me know and I can edit. P.S. Brewers, if you could refrain from completely stinking up the joint this homestand, Kalle and a lot of us would really appreciate it.
  18. Argh, I suppose the Astros are saving Jose "just a smidge taller than hawing" Altuve for pinch-hit heroics.
  19. That's what struck me. Seems that's what you'd say from your hammock where you've spent your Saturday lounging because you were "smart enough" to do your shopping during the week or in the middle of the night or whenever it's quiet.
